Chapter 624: Chapter 476 Loren’s Fantasy Journey_2

In such dense forest, where should I run to?

"Master." A deep and resonant voice rang out behind the Demi-Human escort girl, startling her into a scream as she took off running.

But before she had taken two steps, she was lifted off the ground.

The Demi-Human escort girl struggled frantically as she screamed at the top of her lungs, "Don’t kill me, don’t kill me, I didn’t see anything, I didn’t hear anything. Please let me go, I promise I won’t say a word when I get back, I swear."

The escort girl’s random and bizarre reaction left Gaven completely bewildered as he said, "Kill you? Why would I want to kill you? Why are you running? I want to introduce you to a friend, and your mission is to take him back to Anfield Village."

"Mission? Friend?" The Demi-Human escort girl carefully opened her eyes, looking around, but aside from trees, there were no other people around. Where was this friend supposed to be?

"Look up." Gaven lifted the escort girl to face the huge oak tree in front of her.

It was a massive oak tree, thick enough for two people to embrace, with an old face emerged on its trunk and two enormous arms dangling at its sides. The tree was shakily hoisting its two massive tree feet out of the ground.

"Treants?" The escort girl couldn’t help but widen her eyes in surprise, her fear largely dissipated.

Although Treants in the forest were gigantic, they were never known to be ferocious, at least not towards those who hadn’t caused destruction to the forest.

"Enlightened Tree." Gaven corrected her and repeated the escort girl’s mission, "He is an Enlightened Tree we’ve just awakened, assisting us in rebuilding the inn. Your task is to escort him back to Anfield Village, ensuring to clear up any misunderstandings with travelers along the way to prevent any conflicts."

This Enlightened Tree had already been awakened by Gaven the day before, but this wasn’t the sparsely populated Valley where you could walk half a day without encountering a single soul. If he were to leave the forest abruptly, he might encounter human herdsmen, traders, and the like.

Enlightened Trees generally couldn’t match Treants in intelligence, especially just after awakening; many things, particularly socialization, were still in the learning phase and severely lacking.

For safety reasons, that was why hiring an escort girl came into play.

They were a perfect choice; their profession meant they were adept at socializing, having interacted with a wide variety of people. Even if she didn’t know someone, it was possible they knew of her.

"So that’s how it is, Mr. Gaven. You can put me down now." The Demi-Human escort girl breathed a sigh of relief and said, "You should have told me earlier to prepare me mentally. Just now, I was almost scared to death; I thought I had encountered one of those nobles who enjoy hunting humans as prey!"

Gaven replied helplessly, "You were screaming so much before, how could I talk to you? You didn’t give me a chance to speak just now!"

"It’s because Miss Luna is so fast; I couldn’t even open my eyes." Loren spoke with conviction, and having realized that the other party was not the type of person she had imagined, the broad-hearted escort girl’s spirits began to recover. Her bright eyes roamed over the Enlightened Tree, which stood even taller than Joy Hall, "The job of taking him back seems easy, but with his one step equal to dozens of mine, surely we can’t possibly walk back like this."

"Of course not." Gaven turned to the Enlightened Tree and said, "Stone Stallion Number One, you will be responsible for carrying this lady back."

Gaven had numbered these Enlightened Trees according to the region they belonged to; only Treants were entitled to unique names.

"At your service, Master." The Enlightened Tree responded in a wooden tone, slightly leaning down, one large hand reached out in front of the Demi-Human escort girl.

The Demi-Human escort girl was clearly one of those hesitant yet playful types, timid to the core, but full of curiosity towards new things, including riding a Treant. For her, there wasn’t much difference between a Treant and an Enlightened Tree; both were walking trees.

This time, however, she didn’t scream incessantly, because next to the Enlightened Tree, she seemed as small as a toy, still feeling quite spacious even while standing on his hand.

The movement of the Enlightened Tree was smooth and stable. His large hand closed around her, lifting her up to his shoulder, about ten meters high. The spot was spacious enough for her, not just to sit, but the escort girl could have danced there without issue.

From below, Gaven asked, "Miss Loren, how will you handle it if you meet others on the way?"

"That’s easy. I’ll just drop Mr. Gaven and Mother Gao Ser’s names," the Demi-Human escort girl answered matter-of-factly, "Besides, he’s so tall and imposing, very few would dare to provoke him. Don’t worry, Mr. Gaven, I’ll make sure he arrives at Anfield Village."

She quickly adapted to the situation. Although it wasn’t as she had anticipated, like tightening her relationship with Gaven, the journey was fantastical enough to boast about to her sisters once she got back.

Riding a Pegasus and a Treant were not experiences everyone could have in their lifetime.

"That’s good," Gaven nodded, "As long as you can safely escort Number One to Anfield Village, Miss Luna will come to take you for another visit tomorrow morning. Then, you’ll be responsible for escorting Number Two back."
