Chapter 623: Chapter 476 Loren’s Fantastic Journey_1

"What’s going on?" Mother Gao Ser came out to investigate upon hearing the noisy commotion outside.

Delara answered truthfully, "Mr. Gaven just came to hire Loren and took her out."

"Hiring Loren for an outing? Did he mention where they were going?" Mother Gao Ser’s brows involuntarily arched up. Although she hadn’t completely figured out Gaven’s modus operandi yet, she was sure of one thing: his hiring of escort girls wasn’t for pleasure seeking, there must be other purposes.

"He only mentioned going horseback riding. Why? Is there a problem? Should I go after them?" asked Delara.

"No need." Mother Gao Ser waved her hand dismissively, then turned to those giggling, unserious escort girls and reprimanded them, "All of you shut up. Mr. Gaven is still trying to carve out a new path for you, and look at yourselves, thinking so lowly of him. Do you really think that when he hires an escort girl, it must be for those dirty deeds you’re imagining?"

Falling into a quagmire isn’t terrible; what’s dreadful is deliberately diving into the mud when you’re clearly on solid ground.

"From today onwards, until you see the outcome of his actions, you are not to look at Mr. Gaven with your worldly views, nor are you allowed to insult him with filthy words. If I hear even half a sentence more, regardless of whether you regret it later, I’ll rip your mouths and sew them back up first."

After finishing her tirade, she didn’t care about the reactions of the escort girls and went back to her room, slamming the door shut with a bang.

The escort girls looked at each other, baffled by the scolding they’d received without head or tail. They couldn’t help but whisper amongst themselves, trying to understand the meaning behind Mother Gao Ser’s words.

"Mom, what did she eat today? Why is she so angry? It’s been a long time since I heard her say such harsh words. The last time was when we received the news of Sister Gil’s tragedy."

"What does it mean for Mr. Gaven to carve out a new path for us?"

"We’re just as clueless as you are; it’s the first we’ve heard of it. Who knows what it means? It just feels different from before," they said.

"Have you noticed that Mom’s attitude towards Mr. Gaven is quite different from that towards the other clients?"

"You feel that way too? I’ve noticed as well. When has Mom ever been so eager to help someone so much? Even those bigwigs from the City of Brilliance don’t get this kind of treatment, and they’ve only known each other for no more than three days."

"Fate has nothing to do with how long you’ve known someone. Some people become lifelong friends after only a few days, while others remain mere acquaintances despite many years together. When it comes to people, Mother Gao Ser often just follows her intuition; it’s always been this way, just not as intense as this time."

"Do you think Mom might also..."

"Shut up! How dare you guess such things? Aren’t you afraid that Mom will come out and actually tear your mouth apart?"

"We should not speculate further about this matter. Whether Mr. Gaven is the extraordinary person Mother speaks of or a pretentious scoundrel, we’ll find out when Loren returns."

"Given Mom’s attitude towards Mr. Gaven, we should keep a closer eye on him to prevent Mom from being blinded."

"I agree that it would be wise to do so."

Gaven was unaware that hiring an escort girl had stirred up such a fuss back at Joy Hall.

After leaving Anfield Village with the Demi-Human escort girl named Loren, the two of them took flight on the Half-Moon Colt and headed straight for the Clept Garden Forest.

This was why Gaven had chosen this Demi-Human escort girl: she was small enough, with the size and weight of a six or seven-year-old human child, not to be too much of a burden for the Half-Moon Colt.

The Demi-Human escort girl, clearly experiencing air travel for the first time, showed excitement tinged with fear; since taking off, apart from desperately clutching Gaven’s clothes and screaming frantically, she had done nothing else.

Fortunately, they were in the wilderness with no passersby around, or else people might have thought Gaven was abducting someone.

"Alright, you can open your eyes now; we have reached our destination," Gaven said to the escort girl, who kept her eyes shut and continued to scream furiously even after they had landed.

"We’ve arrived at our destination? So soon?" The escort girl’s sigh was such that Gaven could not tell whether she was genuinely afraid or just pretending, leaving him with a sense of longing for more.

Loren curiously surveyed the surrounding scenery and asked in surprise, "Is this the Clept Garden Forest?"

Looking around, one could see giant trees, thick enough to require more than one person to wrap their arms around them. They were in a primeval forest, and the only places with such characteristics were either the Clept Garden Forest to the northwest of Anfield Village or the Supreme Forest to the east.

Given their flight time, it wasn’t possible that they had arrived at the Supreme Forest so quickly.

"Yes," Gaven confirmed.

A flicker of fear and concern passed through the escort girl’s eyes, but she tried to appear calm and asked, "What are we doing here?"

Natural races might feel an affinity with these primeval woods, but other races held more fear for them, as these forests often served as hideouts for myriad monsters.

What was most important was that she suddenly realized she didn’t know much about this handsome, young, wealthy man.

For a moment, all sorts of wild stories about eccentric noble habits flooded her mind.

Some of them not only had peculiar aesthetic tastes but also the habit of using humans as prey in hunts within the forest. Could it be that she happened to encounter such a situation?
