Chapter 569: Chapter 458 Midway Speed Contest_1

If there were a ranking of city fame on the Felen Continent, the number one spot would undoubtedly belong to Waterdeep City, nicknamed the City of Brilliance.

Many country bumpkins, who had never ventured beyond ten kilometers from their villages in their lifetime, also knew this name and harbored a longing for the grandeur of this super metropolis.

Some say Waterdeep City is a land of wealth, where riches flow like water, and if you’re willing to stoop, you can easily earn your fortune.

Others say Waterdeep City is a veritable hell on earth, draining your coin purse until it’s bone dry, leaving you to slink back home from whence you came.

The Half-Moon Colt had long heard of Waterdeep City, and when it learned that Gaven planned to head there, it was visibly excited for a while.

Especially when the teleportation ended, and the vast city was a stone’s throw away, it couldn’t help but snort loudly, eagerly saying, "Sit tight, let’s go."

"Wait, you’re going the wrong way, take the merchant road and head northeast," Gaven surveyed the surroundings, determined their precise direction, and then said.

"Aren’t we going to Waterdeep City?" The mare’s face was full of confusion; the direction Gaven pointed was decidedly away from Waterdeep City.

"Waterdeep City was merely provided by Ms. Veranika as a teleportation coordinate; it isn’t our true destination," Gaven patiently explained.

"Ah!" The disappointment was evident on the Half-Moon Colt’s face, and it couldn’t resist suggesting, "Even if Waterdeep City isn’t our destination, it doesn’t matter, we can still go there for a visit, to look around."

"I don’t have any business there at the moment, so it’s not under consideration," Gaven replied indifferently, "Trust me, as a stranger, there are many places in Waterdeep City you can’t go to, and some alleys are even more dangerous than the wilderness. You’ll have plenty of chances to experience the splendor of Waterdeep City, but not now."

When he first arrived at Waterdeep City in his past life, his excitement was no less than that of the Half-Moon Colt’s, but once inside, one realizes the brutal survival laws of such an immense city are much harsher than those of smaller cities.

It’s a place of wealth, true enough, but only if you have sufficient capital and ability.

A slight misstep can turn the wealth you’ve brought into a source of wealth for others.

Upon hearing this, the Half-Moon Colt’s enthusiasm instantly waned by half, and it tentatively asked, "Then where are we going?"

"Horse Village Anfield!" Gaven was quite clear about his goal, "Just fly along Longroad and when you see a village where the horses outnumber the people, we’ll have arrived."

Anfield Village, aptly nicknamed Horse Village, is indeed what its name suggests.

Whether it is the largest horse-farming village in the Northern Lands is uncertain, but it’s undoubtedly the most famous one.

Not only does it bask in the reflected glory of Waterdeep City, it is also known for producing a large number of fine horses.

The Roinhein Warhorses, bred by the Roinhein Clan, have consistently held the title of fastest warhorses in all of Felen, and their dominant presence is often seen at many horse races.

In the village, there’s a universally acknowledged truth: the only creature capable of breaking the speed record of a Roinhein Warhorse is another Roinhein Warhorse.

Legend has it that the Roinhein Clan possesses unique demon cultivation techniques, which are utilized to breed the world-surpassing warhorses.

There are also rumors that Roinhein Warhorses are not purely warhorses, but rather hybrids with other equine species, giving them unrivaled speed.

Along the way, they saw a disturbingly large number of horses.

On the plains flanking Longroad, bands of horses would often dash by, sometimes in groups of a few dozen, other times in hundreds, and there was even a herd that numbered over a thousand, thundering across the plains in an extraordinary spectacle.

No one thought these herds were masterless wild horses.

Although there were no horsemen on the ground, the sky told a different story; Pegasus Knights would occasionally swoop by.

Some were even intrigued enough by Gaven and the Half-Moon Colt to try getting a closer look, but they were all shaken off by the Colt.

Gaven’s objective for this journey was simple and clear: to find the Arcane Adept’s legacy and begin his path of advancement, wishing to avoid any unnecessary complications.

But sometimes, trouble isn’t something you can avoid simply because you want to, especially when the Half-Moon Colt’s appearance happens to be quite distinctive.

In a horse-farming area, it’s easy to draw various kinds of attention.

And then six Pegasus Knights appeared directly in front of Gaven.

All six knights were outfitted with long, flowing hair, sporting variously colored, uniquely styled robes. They all appeared to be somewhere between girls and women, at the most beautiful age, and full of youthful vigor.

Their appearances were above average, both beautiful and dignified. But with Gaven’s strong perception, under the cover of the wind, he could faintly hear their candid discussions which did not lack biting remarks.

When peers gather, they tend to become somewhat unrestrained, regardless of gender.

"Meet them head-on," Gaven sighed, patting the Half-Moon Colt’s forehead.

Avoidance was futile now, for the six in front of him were the unequivocal locals of Anfield Village, the clan mages of the Roinhein family stationed there, responsible for guiding the entire Roinhein family’s horse patrol.

Their notoriety in the area was quite distinguishable.

This form of notoriety was not the ordinary kind meaning vicious and terribly evil, but rather their knack for being mischievous and troublesome.

In fact, from their perspective, it was somewhat understandable.
