Chapter 554: Chapter 453 The Might of the Thunderstrike Main Cannon_1

Their most terrifying attribute was their innate petrifying gaze, which could petrify their prey upon eye contact, turning them into statues.

And these petrified prey were their most delectable feast.

Due to their natural talent, which was identical to Medusa’s,

Medusa was incredibly fond of keeping such creatures as her war beasts, using her own petrified victims as their feed.

It was unclear whether it was because of this habit, but the Petrified Lizards raised by Medusa were usually larger than their wild counterparts and their petrifying gaze was even more difficult to resist.

Their drawbacks were equally apparent. In order to digest special prey, their bodies were uniquely structured. Their colossal bodies were also in a semi-petrified state, which provided them with strong defensive capabilities but also a terrifying weight, rendering their movement naturally slow.

Most of the time, they ambushed their prey rather than pursuing it.

On the battlefield, they could only serve as heavy tanks, slowly advancing forward.

Yet, the intimidation they posed was real. Now, it was possible to control one’s gaze to avoid direct eye contact, but what about when they charged in close, getting lost in the chaos of the fray?

Their massive size and sharp teeth were not for show either, possessing destructive power of their own.

Nightshadow’s huge face with only two eyes slightly pursed, revealing a smile that was not quite a smile, contemplating the high cost to have the Medusa Lord take action, an undeniable value for money.

Able to break the deadlock and serve as the backbone of the forces.

But in the next second, his terrifying smile froze.

Accompanied by a tremendous magic aura, an entirely new army appeared out of thin air in the midst of the Petrified Lizard army.

This new army, though not large in number—merely a few dozen—should not be underestimated.

For they were not ordinary humans, but Awakened Plant Armies composed of Treants and Tentacle Demon Vines, all possessing even larger statures than the Petrified Lizards.

Most importantly, being Awakened Plants, they had a far greater resistance to petrification than regular humans, especially those Tentacle Demon Vines which mainly relied on vibration-based Perception, rather than normal vision.

The enemy’s teleportation tactics were frighteningly precise.

Many Tentacle Demon Vines appeared right beside the Petrified Lizards, displaying unique and terrifying combat skills. They used their two Awakened Plant tentacles to tightly bind the Petrified Lizard closest to them, the monstrous maws between their tentacles opening wide like pythons as the Giant Insect’s hind body suddenly propelled its massive mouth forward.

This was not about dragging prey into themselves, but rather pressing their own bodies onto the prey, using their terrifying weight to force them into their mouths, swallowing them whole into their monstrous stomachs.

Engulfing prey whole was the Tentacle Demon Vine’s specialized combat method. Their stomachs possessed a paralyzing digestive liquid of a frightening nature. Once swallowed, the prey would face paralysis and corrosion, suffering 2D6 of acid damage each round. That was far more terrifying than liquids like corpse-dissolving water, aqua regia, and such; one could only watch helplessly as their body melted into liquid, becoming nutrients for the Tentacle Demon Vines.

Right away, four to five Petrified Lizards were swallowed by the Tentacle Demon Vines, and another seven or eight were still struggling between their tentacles and massive maws, unwilling to give in easily. The magic auras in their eyes were continuously flashing, but in such circumstances, they were useless.

Petrifying stare’s magic attack was powerful, indeed, but it also had significant constraints. It wasn’t like the Eye Demon’s petrifying beam, which could petrify an enemy just by falling upon them. It required eye-to-eye contact to produce the desired magic effects.

"What’s happening? What the hell just happened?" Nightshadow looked around in shock, trying to identify the source of the problem.

He was aware that Mesnoel possessed a Dark Animated Plant Army that had been sent into Mesnoel under the pursuit of the Dwarves Elf.

Their engagement in combat was not beyond Nightshadow’s expectations.

What surprised him was the manner in which this Awakened Plant Army was deployed into the war.

To deploy such a sizeable force entirely into combat at once, how many teleportation spells must be used?

Ten? Twenty? Thirty?

How many Transcendent Casters must the enemy have?

No need for many, just ten Transcendent Casters casting spells together could turn the entire battlefield upside down. Was there a need to resort to the time-consuming and laborious tactic of teleportation?

"What are you waiting for? Now is the best time to launch a decisive battle! This is their last mobile force. Now that they’ve deployed it, they surely have no other moves to play! Take action now! Hurry up and do it!" The Medusa Lord urged in excitement, her snake hair uncontrollably flailing about.

But in Nightshadow’s eyes, it seemed more like she feared her Petrified Lizards and Medusa troops would be completely devoured by the oncoming Awakened Plant Army.

As three more Petrified Lizards were engulfed by the Tentacle Demon Vines, the Medusa Lord’s voice grew shriller, "The battle has come this far, what is there to hesitate about? If you run back now, the soldiers embroiled on the battlefield can’t retreat, and you’ll end up a lone wolf, waiting for the other two cities to come and swallow you up. Get out and try, at least there’s a chance of victory. Take action, do it now."
