Chapter 499: Chapter 432 The Natives of Mesnoel_1
Elves were the originators of Mystlock Locks on the Felen Continent and at the same time, the race most skilled in their use; this was an acknowledged fact among all races. Under the guidance of Miseren Serlette, the god of Mystlock Locks, they mastered how to create and weave these locks.
It was said that the most powerful elf Mystlock Locks all bore the divine power of this True God, such as the Dragon Madness Lock and the Mystlocks surrounding Eternal Gathering Island, and so on.
However, doing so depleted much of his divine power, and as a result, he fell from possessing feeble divine power to that of a demigod.
In order to restore his divine power, Miseren decided to forge for himself a high-order divine artifact, Miseren’s Ring.
The creation of the high-order divine artifact was successful, yet it was met with an unexpected attack. The only remaining divine nature incarnation of Miseren was destroyed, and the newly-forged Miseren’s Ring was lost.
The god of Mystlock Locks suffered an unprecedented blow and was no longer able to send incarnations to Felen; his presence could only be confined to his own divine palace, Mystlock Palace.
Other races managed to replicate the unique Mystlock Locks of the elves with spells to protect their own cities and graded these locks based on their strength.
The existing Mystlock Locks are classified into six levels according to the Mist Barriers forming them—Castle Level (seven rings), Town Level (eight rings), City Level (nine rings), Regional Mystlock (ten rings), National Level Mystlock (eleven rings), and Continent Level Mystlock (twelve rings).
Relatively speaking, the first three levels of Mystlocks are quite common, while the latter three levels, even when counted together, could be enumerated on both hands.
Currently, the only known Continent Level Mystlock is the Dragon Madness Lock, and for National Level Mystlocks, the representative is Eternal Gathering Island, while the fallen Mystorno is a Regional Mystlock.
In terms of function, elf Mystlock Locks and human Mystlock Locks are the same.
But essentially, due to the existence of the god of elf Mystlock Locks, people generally believe there is a closer relationship between elves and Mystlocks.
Although the god of elf Mystlock Locks couldn’t send incarnations to Felen, he was still able to convey messages through illusions.
This was particularly true when the lost Mystlock Locks related to him were reactivated, which was when he showed the most active response.
The moment Mesnoel was reactivated, the illusion of this True God appeared not only in various temples across Eternal Gathering Island but also directly in the sanctuaries of three Silver Elf families.
These three families were the Elonos Family, the Nightstar Family, and the Eaglesong Family.
They shared one thing in common—they had all migrated back to Eternal Gathering Island from Mesnoel.
Regardless of their relationships in Mesnoel, once they arrived on Eternal Gathering Island, these three families remained close, acting in unison on many matters.
Banding together is an inherent survival instinct for all intelligent beings, even in the relatively peaceful Eternal Gathering Island, which is not as serene as claimed by outer rumors.
Otherwise, the Elf King Zol wouldn’t have been assassinated in his own palace, and so many elves wouldn’t have answered the call to return to Eternal Gathering Island from afar and, after staying for just a few years, begun planning their return to old haunts with such urgency.
Many reasons contributed to this situation. Due to the widespread elf migration across Felen, Eternal Gathering Island became well-known and many of the elves’ arch-enemies began scheming to conquer it.
This would not only deliver a deadly blow to the elves of Felen, but it would also have serious repercussions for the Elf Gods.
Another reason was that the density of elves on Eternal Gathering Island far exceeded many elves’ expectations, making some of the larger cities even more crowded than human cities.
This was overwhelming for elves accustomed to peaceful, secluded lives. Although Eternal Gathering Island had forests and high mountains, the area was relatively limited. It didn’t hold a candle to the vast Comanso and was lackluster compared even to Mir Forest.
The forest area of a single Mir Forest could match half of Eternal Gathering Island.
The three major families, reminded by the god of Mystlock Locks’ illusion, unanimously gathered at the Eaglesong Tower, the stronghold of the Eaglesong Family.
The Eaglesong Family was known for its hunters and bards, especially skilled in taming giant eagles and pegasi. Many of their kin were now serving in these two elf air forces and were the most successful among the three families on Eternal Gathering Island, naturally assuming leadership.
"Ms. Tiasa, it is simply wonderful that you could be here,"
Sallaniel, with a severe expression, visibly relaxed upon seeing the Silver Elf lady in front of Eaglesong Tower, as if he had found his pillar of strength.
He is the current head of the Elonos Family, bearer of the ancient elf weapon Haranmala, and it is said that the founder of the family, Ranmala Elonos, once slew a mature Red Dragon named Skala with a single shot from this bow.
While the strength of a weapon depends on its user, one that can slay a dragon with a single arrow is certainly no ordinary weapon, especially ancient elven weapons, which have their own unique features and should not be underestimated.
As for Ms. Tiasa mentioned by Sallaniel, she is the head of the Eaglesong Family.
This Silver Elf lady, who looks to be only in her thirties or forties, is unimaginatively old; since Sallaniel began to have memories, she has already been the head of the Eaglesong Family, already looking as she does now.
Four centuries have gone by, their place of residence has shifted from Mir Forest’s Mesnoel to Eternal Gathering Island, and she remains the head of the Eaglesong Family, still the same as in memories.
Such a situation, even among elves, is rare and inevitably leads to speculation that even if she were to be buried in a tomb, this lady would still be in her prime; many believe that Ms. Tiasa has become eternally ageless due to some special magic, her physical condition being fixed, never to grow old.
"I had just received the news and rushed back from the Inner Plane," Ms. Tiasa said, not attempting to hide her whereabouts from the younger generations whom she had watched over growing up.
Controlling the Clalata Gemstone and possessing the ability to traverse the Crystal Barrier and travel to the Inner Plane is no secret among the other two major families.
A young and beautiful Silver Elf woman hurriedly made her way over, her voice, like silver bells, arrived before she did, "I’m sorry, my lords, for being late. Halem was summoned by Her Majesty the Queen this morning to discuss matters and hasn’t returned yet, so I came ahead on my own."
This Silver Elf woman is named Selin Nightstar; she and her twin sister Halem Nightstar jointly manage the Nightstar Family. Both younger than Sallaniel, they only took up their leadership roles upon arriving at Eternal Gathering Island. With their shrewdness and strategy, they have helped the family overcome decline and restored its vitality.
"Since little Halem has official business, let’s not wait for her. Having you here, Selin, is just the same. After all, you are the real star of wisdom in the Nightstar Family. Little Halem never had as many clever ideas as you when she was young, and it’s even more so now," Tiasa declared definitively.
Selin couldn’t help but say in a coquettish way, "Ms. Tiasa, are you complimenting me or are you making fun of me?"
"Whether it’s a compliment or a jest depends entirely on you," Tiasa said with a smile.
The three of them chatted and laughed as they walked into the highest floor of Eaglesong Tower, overseeing almost half of Liuxipa City.
Sallanis couldn’t help but sigh: "Every time I stand on top of Eaglesong Tower, it always reminds me of the days of viewing from the Tower of Dominion. Comparing the two, the Tower of Dominion is somewhat more spectacular."
"What’s the matter? Missing home?" Ms. Tiasa inquired.
"Don’t you, Ms. Tiasa?" Sallanis countered.
"If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have built Eaglesong Tower," Ms. Tiasa sighed languidly, "How many years have you lived in Mesnoel? I spent most of my life there, the city also harbors a portion of my efforts. But you are aware of its uniqueness, the problem with the Primordial Temple of Moando not being completely solved. Living there is like residing atop a volcano that could erupt at any moment, and the Enos Family, as the Tower of Dominion holders, were even cursed by Moando, falling into numerous disasters, almost wiped out. Only a posthumous child was left in Mir Forest, and we only received news of this in recent years..."
By the end, Ms. Tiasa reined in her own words, laughing at herself, "I’m truly aging – always irresistibly falling into memories. This time, I was stirred again by His Highness Miseren’s illusion. Let’s talk business."
Ms. Tiasa paused briefly, her gaze sweeping over Sallanis and Selin, "Returning to Mesnoel is not the topic of today’s discussion. However, now that the Mystlock Locks of Mesnoel have been rebooted, we cannot ignore this matter and must investigate it as soon as possible. We can’t let the uninformed descendants of the Enos Family act recklessly. Should they release the Divine Root, at the least, Mesnoel could be destroyed, and at worst, Mir Forest and even the surrounding human realms might be affected."
Sallanis nodded solemnly, "That’s exactly what I think too. But with teleportation cut off between Eternal Gathering Island and the Felen Continent, we must take a ship to a human port to use the Teleportation Spell. A round trip will take a substantial amount of time. Entrusting this task to an ordinary clansperson is difficult to feel assured about."
"Let me take care of this. I will personally make a trip to Mesnoel and quickly send back details of the situation there," Selin offered eagerly.
"If this task is entrusted to young Selin, nothing could make me feel more at ease. However, you are now one of the heads of the Nightstar Family, and many matters rely on you. Can you manage?" Ms. Tiasa couldn’t help but ask.
"It’s just a bit of an impact on business. Money is something one never accumulates enough of. Compared to that, investigating the situation in Mesnoel is more important. As for other family matters, with Halem here, and with the support of both esteemed individuals, there shouldn’t be any major issues. After all, we’re the only family with two people, the esteemed ones can’t be in two places at once," Selin declared with the air of someone who would not shirk responsibility.
"Very well," Ms. Tiasa took out a gemstone and passed it to Selin, "This is a Positioning Gemstone, capable of precisely locating the Tower of Dominion in Mesnoel. Use it as a medium to cast the Teleportation Spell. Even if the Mystlock Locks have restarted and you cannot be teleported directly into the Tower of Dominion, it will enable you to appear in the closest vicinity."
Selin received the gemstone respectfully, thanking her while asking, "Do we need to report this matter to Her Majesty the Queen?"
"I assume Her Majesty has already received the information. His Highness Miseren likely didn’t only cast illusions at our shrine; surely the Hall of True Gods was notified immediately too. Nevertheless, we should still make our position clear. I’ll handle this and personally report to her. You concentrate on preparing for your return to Mesnoel," Ms. Tiasa advised.
After some thought, Ms. Tiasa took out another gemstone and handed it to Selin, "This is a Transmission Gemstone linked to the Clalata Gemstone. It can send a message to the Clalata Gemstone over a long distance. With this, you can send back the information you gather at the first opportunity."
Selin took the gemstone again with all due respect and couldn’t help asking, "Since we need to inform Her Majesty, why not directly ask her to use a teleportation gateway for the transfer? Wouldn’t that be more convenient?"
