Chapter 498: Chapter 431: The Conspiracy of the Dwarves_2
"This matter shall be entrusted to you, Delnox City, and it is your chance to make amends for your previous failures. Seize it well."
The Blade of Venom did not oppose this malicious suggestion, but instead strongly endorsed it.
To achieve their ends, Dwarves Elves never had a baseline to speak of.
Compared to kindness, they were more adept at ruling through fear.
When the creatures of Mir Forest realized that the magic and swords in the hands of the Dwarves Elves were even more terrifying than the Necrotic Plague, they naturally kept their distance from Mesnoel and even sided with them.
Those hypocrites, they were always so weak.
When they succumbed to their whips, even the Dwarves Elves had to take a second glance at the way they treated their own kind; it was precisely this mentality that had allowed the Dwarves Elves to remain powerful and conquer a vast empire with only a small force.
"I will not fail you, Blade of Venom, nor will I bring shame upon the Master of the Masked again," Shadow Walker Night Shadow bowed and accepted the command.
"Remember, I will be watching every move you make. If you disappoint the Master of the Masked again, you will no longer even have the opportunity to become a Nightshadow, that is my promise," Blade of Venom coldly warned, "Go."
"As you command," Shadow Walker Night Shadow straightened up, his towering figure beginning to fade away slowly, not through invisibility, but by directly returning to the Shadow Plane, ready to use it to quickly return to Delnox City.
Blade of Venom’s words sounded an alarm for him; if he returned too late,
there might be changes in Delnox City. He wasn’t worried about the defectors; he feared those ambitious usurpers taking his place.
It wasn’t a possibility; they were already doing it.
The fact that he had not been resurrected on the altar in Delnox City but had been transformed into Shadow Walker Night Shadow in the Agate Maze of Isca Yole City was the best proof of that.
This was another purpose of Blade of Venom Masoji in resurrecting him, to ensure Delnox City remained obedient to his will. Compared to those usurpers of unknown origin, he, an old acquaintance, was easier to control.
Feelings, vows, these were the most useless in Dwarves Elf society; even when spoken, they were lies that not even the speaker themselves believed.
The only thing that ever tied everything together was interest.
Once the figure of Shadow Walker Night Shadow had completely vanished, Blade of Venom spoke again: "Silent Black Panther."
"Your subordinate is here," a ghost-like Dwarves Elf stepped forward at the command.
"You are in charge of the squad, investigating all information on the Mesnoel Rebooter. You are only allowed to collect information, do not act rashly. If you expose your whereabouts or get captured, you know what to do with yourself."
"As you command."
"Go."
"Yes."
After receiving the orders, the figure of Silent Black Panther vanished like a ghost, perfectly exemplifying the phrase ’now you see me, now you don’t.’
"Devourer."
"Your subordinate is here."
An immensely terrifying giant head emerged from the wall.
Rather than a head, it would be more appropriate to call it a gigantic maw. No other organs were visible, just a serpent-like giant mouth that, once opened, could swallow a Giant whole. Inside the vast maw, one could see its throat lined with interlocking razor-sharp teeth, much like a grinder; anything swallowed would be ground to pieces without a single intact spot remaining.
Only a small segment extended out; the full length of its body hidden behind the stone walls remained unknown.
This terrifying entity, at first glance resembling a Purple Worm, emitted a horrifying chill aura, and its obsidian-like exterior revealed it to be a more dreadful being. Essentially, it was like the Winged Night Shadow and the Shadow Walker Night Shadow, an amalgam of pure dark energy and malevolent souls.
It was another variant within the Nightshadows, named the Giant Insect Shadow, one of the most horrifying existences in the Shadow Plane. It possessed not only all the characteristics and abilities of the Nightshadows but also most abilities of the Purple Worm.
This granted it an extraordinary ability to survive; even if one could overpower it, killing it was not guaranteed. A simple burrow into the ground would leave countless enemies at a loss.
Being able to travel through the Shadow Plane and dig through the ground made it even harder to guard against, becoming an inescapable nightmare for countless beings.
From its response, it wasn’t hard to deduce that this Giant Insect Shadow, like Bunir, had been transformed by a Velen high-ranking Sacrificer.
This type of Giant Insect Shadow was even more terrifying because it not only had all the attributes and abilities of a Nightshadow but also the cunning inherent to the Dwarves Elves.
"You will go to the City of Death Wish Guards and probe the old crone Chiaranlisha’s attitude towards the Blasphemer of the lady of the dead. You may be suitably aggressive, and if they make no move, then push them to take action," Blade of Venom commanded.
The City of Death Wish Guards was the largest temple of the Goddess of Undead Vengeance in Felen, a secret to most.
Not to mention knowing its whereabouts, even hearing about it was unheard of.
But to a Velen high-ranking Sacrificer, this secret was not a secret.
The relations between the True Gods directly affected the relations between their followers.
Although Velen didn’t have a good relationship with the Spider Queen Rose, often undermining each other and their followers being hostile as well, the Master of the Masked was after all the Goddess’s son and not weak in strength. He firmly held the second position in the dark Elf Pantheon.
Even in her prime, Chiaranlisha had to bow and greet Velen, let alone now when she was in a state of severe weakness. Naturally, she had to live cautiously, including her followers.
"Understood," the Devourer Giant Insect Shadow grinned with a terrifying smile and replied telepathically, "I will make them pay any price to act."
Unlike Bunir, who was forced to transform into a Shadow Walker Night Shadow, the Devourer converted into the Giant Insect Shadow willingly to gain greater power and to serve the Master of the Masked better. He relished this peculiar form, particularly enjoying when he engulfed enemies in his belly, Listening to their desperate wails within his body, which was now one of his greatest pleasures.
"Go," Blade of Venom Masoji had no doubt about it.
With the sound of terrifying stone-breaking, the massive form of the Giant Insect Shadow disappeared into the darkness, leaving behind a hole more than two meters wide at the spot.
After the completion of the troop dispatching, Blade of Venom settled back into his throne, falling into silence.
But those who knew him were aware that this was his customary habit when devising new schemes.
However, this time it was a sudden situation. He had very limited knowledge of the enemy and could only react basically to the existing intelligence, curbing the enemy’s development in the Mir Forest. To truly weave schemes, he would have to wait until he fully understood the opponent.
They Dwarves Elves had longer lifespans and were even more patient than regular Elves.
Temporary victory was useless; what they sought was a lasting, eternal victory.
The rise of Velen’s Nightshadows in this place was inevitable, unstoppable by anyone. Anyone who tried to stand in the way would be utterly crushed like a mantis blocking a carriage.
