Chapter 249: 197 Chapter Each Has a Scheme_1

By the time those powerful misshapen monsters, especially the Foul Giants, burst forth.

Gaven realized that his ideas were a bit too naive.

The Evil Eye Curse of the Foul Giants was also a supernatural ability, and it was effective even within the Dragon Oak Dream Realm.

Especially on members of the Fae Race, the lethality was astonishing.

Merely being glanced at by them, many from the Fae Race would exude black gas from their bodies, their figures beginning to warp, showing signs of turning into misshapen monsters on the spot.

These Fae Race members, frightened, would scream and recite teleportation spells, leaving the battlefield.

But even upon returning to the safety zone, the Evil Eye Curse on them was still at work, until Lord Virginia wielded purifying powers, repeatedly cleansing them, before the curse’s power was removed.

After such a scare, many unattacked Fae Race members also ran back to the safety zone, at least a third of them, although many returned one after another, their enthusiasm was not as high as before, each of them keeping their distance from the Foul Giants.

These members of the Fae Race were, after all, not regular warriors; their combat awareness and will to fight were lacking by no small degree.

And it was difficult to make significant progress in a short time.

However, as a feint, it was sufficient.

The commotion they stirred up in the combat area was large enough.

The Foul Giants in reality immediately noticed and sent a large force of high-end combatants at the first instance.

They were well-versed in this regard.

While Lord Virginia and Gaven deliberated and recruited members of the Fae Race to stabilize the Dragon Oak Dream Realm.

Within the Corruption Lair, Prince Elton was not idle either, quickly dispatching messengers to return to the Black Mirror Kingdom, seeking aid from the great Black Mirror Guardian, the Foul King, the Master of All Things, Dominick.

King Dominick took this matter very seriously.

He not only sent a detachment of Foul Giant reinforcements but also escorted a Divine Artifact—the Breath of the Black Mirror.

Just by inhaling a breath of this gas exhaled by the Holy Guardian Black Mirror.

His warriors could enter a petrified cataleptic state, allowing their souls to freely enter and leave the Corruption Realm, just like in true death.

Once the mission was completed, using the Breath of the Black Mirror again to absorb the petrifying gas from their bodies, they would immediately recover.

Thus, the soldiers could freely traverse between the two worlds.

Their dreams of crushing them through the mental and consciousness realm were about to be dashed.

They were the true kings in this respect, possessing methods far beyond what those naive members of the Fae Race could imagine.

"Prince Elton, the Yaling have been attacking more frequently lately, are they planning a major counteroffensive?" Necromancer Shaman Felisk spoke with barely concealed worry.

This worry was not only based on the loss of their forces recently.

It was also due to the changes among the Spring Bud Forest Fae Race.

The two have been old adversaries, with standoffs and battles continuing for countless ages, so long that even the Everlasting Kind has forgotten the origin of the initial war.

Since Felisk can remember, it has always been the Foul Giants who have held the absolute advantage in the war.

They could advance or retreat at will, always treating the forest Fae Race as the largest source of Dark Servants.

This situation reached its peak a hundred years ago when, after signing a holy contract with the great Black Mirror and receiving his support, they laid siege to the much-desired surface, viciously rending Spring Bud Forest and integrating its richest part into their own kingdom.

If not for the collective repression of the Black Mirror’s power by the great Druids of the Court of Summer, they would have devoured the entire Spring Bud Forest.

Especially that Dragon Oak Great Tree, even the Holy Master Black Mirror had long coveted it.

Once they could corrupt and erode it, the Holy Master would break through the seals set by the great Druids and descend upon this land, restarting the path of expansion for their Black Mirror Kingdom.

But they had to act discreetly, for if they attracted too much attention from the Court of Summer, they would be met with determined opposition, including the destruction of the Dragon Oak Great Tree to prevent them from corrupting it—as they had once done in Spring Bud Forest.

The rapid corruption of the Black Forest wasn’t just due to the effort of the Black Mirror but also to the great Druids.

They turned that forest into a prison for the Black Mirror, binding the two together.

As for the lifeforms of that forest, they were a necessary sacrifice for the seal.

In this corruption mission, both Prince Elton and Felisk were quite at ease.

Because it was really not difficult.

The Fae Race of Spring Bud Forest were utterly unaware of the underground situation.

It was simply because the prey here was too scarce, and the Dragon Oak Great Tree was too massive.

To corrupt it was not the work of a day.

They just needed to grind away slowly, time was the least of their worries.

But all of this, with the destruction of an advance team they had dispatched, underwent changes beyond their expectations.

First, their presence was exposed.

So be it if exposed.

They were still not too worried, for even if the Yaling were given a hundred guts, they wouldn’t dare to venture deep into the Dark Domain and start a war with them.

Not only because this is their home turf, their domain.

But also because they are very clear about the situation in the Spring Bud Forest.

Their top warriors all sacrificed themselves in the defense battle a hundred years ago in the Black Forest, their souls having become part of the Black Mirror prison, leaving behind only a group of the old, the weak, and the sick, eventually forcing them to appoint a young girl no more than a hundred years old as the Lord.

They lacked the ability to organize an elite force to delve into the Dark Domain and wage war.

If they were to organize a large army composed of ordinary Yaling Spirit Soldiers, bringing it here would possibly be just feeding the corruption—but that’s not to mention that the Black Mirror Kingdom would not stand idly by.

As for seeking aid from the Court of Summer, Felix wasn’t particularly worried.

Because of what happened a hundred years ago in the Black Forest, the new Lord of the Spring Bud Forest had a terrible perception of the Royal Court and those Great Druids, having turned away all their envoys.

Not to mention actively seeking help.

Perhaps she feared that once the Great Druids sensed an unfavorable situation, they would not hesitate to sacrifice the remaining half of the Spring Bud Forest.

But as the frequent appearance of the corruption tide intensified, Felix felt something a bit different.

The way the Yaling acted in Spring Bud Forest was unlike before.

This method of expelling corruption through spiritual consciousness was unheard of, not even seen by the Court of Summer.

What had the Foul Giants relied on to maintain the upper hand in the war against the Yaling?

The Evil Eye Corruption.

This answer was correct, but rather one-sided.

Their enormous size and terrifying strength were also not to be overlooked.

It was when these two aspects merged that their strength was at its most formidable.

If these two abilities were separated, their power would be greatly reduced.

Most importantly, those currently deployed by the Yaling were not their Regular Army, but those Little Fairies who, on ordinary days, were nothing but a noisy nuisance to people.

Compared to the Yaling, the number of these Little Fairies was not just ten times, not just a hundred times greater.

If this force was organized, how terrifying would it be?

To verify his speculation, Felix had personally entered the Corruption space before.

The situation inside horrified him; it could no longer be simply called a Corruption space, but rather a remarkably stable dream realm constructed by the opposition.

It wouldn’t take much longer for them to possibly launch a counterattack from this direction.

Regarding the outcome of this war, Felix was very pessimistic.

If by then, their Corruption Vanguard failed its task, that would be a minor issue.

The other party might very well use this as a means to threaten the Black Mirror Kingdom in return.

"Earlier, hadn’t you already confirmed it yourself?" said Prince Elton with a burp, unconcerned, "Isn’t it just a bunch of Little Fairies? No matter how numerous they are, they are merely Little Fairies, which at best could pose a threat to those Dark Servants but could never threaten our mighty warrior souls."

The Foul Giant Prince paused slightly, revealing a cunning smile on his ugly face: "And this is precisely our perfect excuse, my dear brother. Previously, you only dispatched a bunch of useless Dark Servants to my aid, with very few real warriors.

I have already reported the situation here directly to the Great Shaman, and you see, this time not only did he send a batch of real warriors to aid me, but he even sent the Breath of the Black Mirror, such a significant treasure. What does that tell us?"

Felix was quick-witted, and his eyes lit up with understanding, "This means that the Great Shaman holds the corruption of the Dragon Oak Great Tree in high regard. If a situation arises on our end, he will not ignore it; he will surely find a way to persuade His Majesty the King to send us more support."

"Mm," Prince Elton gave Felix a look that said ’you’re not completely foolish,’ "Your ability is commendable, but your understanding of politics is too simplistic, which is no wonder you were assigned to me to corrupt the Dragon Oak Great Tree. Is the task important? Of course, it’s important — it’s crucial for the future of our Black Mirror Kingdom and relates to the unsealing of the Holy Master. However...."

The Foul Giant Prince drew out his words, casting aside his stature and appearance at that moment, he resembled a seasoned human politician, "But what’s most important is what we can gain from this process. You wouldn’t want to follow a fallen prince for the rest of your life, would you?"

Prince Elton’s last few words made Felix’s heart race with alarm, yet also ignited a fiery passion within him.

Power — who doesn’t love it?

No Foul Giant could resist the temptation of power, the lure of dominion — unless it was the temptation of even greater power, the dominion over more beings.

He had been aware from the beginning of Prince Elton’s grand ambition; if it were not for that ambition, he would not have been relegated to such a forsaken place to undertake such a vanguard task.

But he had not anticipated the prince’s ambition to be so immense that he would use matters relating to the future of the Kingdom to seek personal gain.

And this approach was in keeping with the usual style of the Foul Giants. They pledged no loyalty to anyone, only to themselves, to the desires of their own hearts.

But the next moment, an icy chill surged from the depths of Felix’s heart.

It was one thing to speculate, but quite another for the other party to lay bare his ambition before them.

He was clearly being invited to join the fold, to declare his position.

Prince Elton’s twisted gaze was fixed tightly on him, and the huge battle-axe in his hand exuded a cold chill.

Felix knelt immediately, raising his voice, "I pledge my loyalty to my king, I swear to follow in my king’s footsteps unto death. My king’s wishes are my wishes, my king’s enemies are my enemies."

Before him, there was only this one choice; any other would have led to becoming material for eternal corruption, the kind thrown directly into the Dark Altar.

"Rise," Prince Elton said with a smile, but placed upon his deformed face, it was as twisted and terrifying as could be imagined.

Standing up and patting Felix’s shoulder, he said, "I knew you were a smart man, Felix. But the title of King, for now, is a bit premature. Once I lead you to forge new territories, then you can be given that title. For the time being, I am still only a prince of the Black Mirror Kingdom."

"Forge new territories?" Felix was startled. Could it be that the prince wasn’t solely aiming to use this opportunity to expand his own power and eventually seize supreme authority over the Black Mirror Kingdom?
