Chapter 242: Chapter 191 The Deterrent Power of a Legendary Mage_1

"We definitely can’t do it here, we need to enter the Dragon Oak Dream Realm."

"Then let’s go!" Gaven took the lead, heading straight for his rest room.

The rest room was no longer as rudimentary as it once was, when everything needed to be shaped by Lord Virginia with a Wood Shaping Technique.

Instead, it had been properly decorated, not only expanded to twice its size but also converted into a three-bedroom and one living room suite, replete with all kinds of furniture.

The walls were adorned with magical lanterns fitted with the Everbright Flame, illuminating the place as bright as day.

Each magical lantern was equipped with a small mechanism.

Once activated, the lanterns could be retracted into the walls, effectively turning off the lights.

In Felen, lifestyles often represent a dichotomy.

Those without magic usually adopt the most basic, most backward pastoral lifestyle, where everything must be accomplished through human or animal labor.

Once magic is introduced, the level of convenience can rival that of modern times, or even surpass it.

This magic lantern is a clear example, using a Permanency Spell to make any small object perpetually bright with the Everbright Flame, providing enough light for dozens of square meters of space.

It’s just that the price is a bit steep, usually around one hundred and ten Gold Coins on the market, though it varies depending on the prevalence of magic use in the area.

In places like Ser or Halruaa with many mages, the price would definitely be cheaper, down to around seventy or eighty Gold Coins.

In rural areas where mages are scarce, such items could reach a price of one hundred and forty or fifty Gold Coins, often with more demand than supply, requiring a long time to sell.

Gaven was mulling over other modern facilities, trying to create them with magic, and he had already come up with some preliminary ideas.

For example, running water could be managed with just an Endless Water Jug—no need for water pipes at all.

As for the toilet, just a wooden barrel with a connection to an extradimensional space would suffice—no need for sewage pipes.

The former is easy to arrange since Felen already has the necessary things, but the latter is still in the concept stage, and he needs to find mages interested in this field to cooperate with him on experiments.

Primarily, Gaven saw no major profit point in this endeavor yet, not worth the huge cost just for his own convenience.

Should the day come when he gets the opportunity to develop real estate on a large scale in cities like Waterdeep City, Baldur’s Gate or West Gate, he will surely bring along a series of corresponding facilities.

Except for the side near the tree roots, all other parts were reinforced multiple times with the Stone Shaping Spell, to a thickness of no less than two meters.

The tree roots themselves were not left rough and exposed but were intricately reshaped using the Wood Shaping Technique, carving out a large tree hollow, creating a big bed three meters long and three meters wide, covered with thick animal fur.

Gaven really liked to use this tree bed for daydreaming or entering the Dragon Oak Dream Realm, always feeling that doing so made him get closer to the Dragon Oak Mother Tree, making some things easier.

Of course, he and Virginia had often used it for some healthy double exercises.

This time, in a hurry to deal with the goods, they weren’t in the mood for that, so both laid on the tree bed and went straight into the Dragon Oak Dream Realm.

The current Dragon Oak Dream Realm was a far cry from a month ago, like two completely different places.

It could be described as bustling with people and buildings sprouting up everywhere.

These buildings varied in appearance and materials, each unique, with some made of stone, some of wood, and even some translucent.

Some looked complete, with doors and windows all set.

Others were merely foundations, their interiors visible at a glance.

As for the people, they were an eccentric lot, from Little Fairies with wings to Demi-Humans, Half-Goat People, Humans, Dwarfs, Elves, Yaling, and even Angels and Demons.

But here, one can’t always trust what they see.

Don’t forget, this is the Dream World, and all these forms are reconstructions by the Soul Consciousness.

That seemingly burly Orc could very well be an underage Little Fairy or Flower Spirit in reality, not much bigger than a palm.

Ninety-nine percent of the people in the Dragon Oak Dream Realm come from the Fairy Wilderness, with very few from the Dragon Oak Territory side.

Entering the Dragon Oak Dream Realm has strict conditions; you need at least an Intelligence of 10 and Perception of 12. Fall short in either, and you can’t even sense it, let alone enter it.

The number of Gnolls meeting these Attribute requirements is pitifully small.

On the other hand, for many of the Fae Race, not only do they meet these requirements, but many also exceed them, especially in terms of Perception, with a significant number standing out. They take to this place like a fish to water.

From the start, Gaven envisioned the permanent residents of the Dragon Oak Dream Realm to be those of the Fae Race living on the Dragon Oak Mother Tree.

First, the very existence of these Fae Race hinged upon the Dragon Oak Mother Tree, and they held deep affection for it. Both emotionally and rationally, they deserved assistance, especially when this help merged with entertainment.

Second, the Dragon Oak Dream Realm currently has certain limitations, as it must be based upon the Dragon Oak Mother Tree. To enter the Dream Realm, one doesn’t need to make direct contact with it, but at the very least, one must be under its canopy or root coverage.

If they can directly contact the Dragon Oak Mother Tree, entry would be even more convenient.

But Gaven vastly underestimated the curiosity of these Fae Race members, especially when faced with something that sounded incredibly fascinating and fun. If they didn’t witness it with their own eyes, they wouldn’t be able to sleep well.

Countless members of the Fae Race, in groups big and small, rushed to the base of the Dragon Oak Mother Tree. Here, they were ushered by the guides of the Dragon Oak Dream Realm into the legendary Dream World.

The result is the thriving scene you see now.

The Dragon Oak Dream Realm truly catered to the tastes of these Fae Race members. Here, they could freely indulge in cosplay, freely construct houses and clothing. Concerts and dance parties were everywhere, continuing from dawn to dusk, and from dusk to dawn.

The Fae Race, usually not known for indulgence, found many of its members hopelessly addicted to the Dragon Oak Dream Realm.

Left with no other choice, Lord Virginia had to enforce a strict rule: everyone could stay in the Dragon Oak Dream Realm for only twelve hours a day, after which they would be forcibly ejected.

Apart from waiting a full twelve hours, there was no other way to re-enter.

Of course, this was the restriction during normal times.

Once war was declared, such restrictions would automatically be lifted.

Currently, a good number of the Fae Race were planning to establish new gathering points around the Dragon Oak Mother Tree to facilitate permanent residence within the Dream Realm.

To date, the statistics for the Dragon Oak Dream Realm are as follows:

Total number of entries is 76,323 people.

The record for the highest number of concurrent users is 34,234 people.

The daily average of concurrent users is around 13,000 people.

To the Dragon Oak Dream Realm, these are not just big data, but a multitude of spiritual imprints; some have even left their dreams here forever.

These have all become the supporting keystones of the Dragon Oak Dream Realm.

Not to mention the insane hammering of a dozen Foul Giants, even if hundreds of them entered and wreaked havoc, the impact on the balance of the Dragon Oak Dream Realm would not be significant—at least it wouldn’t cause the violent tremors felt before.

Gaven, following Lord Virginia, did not enter the normal Dragon Oak Dream Realm but the backstage area, which was still a sea of energy, just like the first time he entered the Consciousness Sea.

Here, not only could one clearly observe the happenings within the Dragon Oak Dream Realm, but also the situation inside the Dragon Oak Dragon Nest.

As Virginia’s will converged, the energies seemed to come to life and surged towards the batch of goods, wrapping them from top to bottom.

Under the wash of the tidal energy flood, strands of unusual light began to shine from these freight cars.

The anomalous lights varied, some red, some yellow, some blue.

If one looked closely, they would see that these were not mere magic lights, but unique and arcane magical characters—Mage runes.

All Arcane Spellcasters can choose to create a personal insignia or rune which signifies ownership or serves as a warning, acting as a personal signature.

The Magic Goddess protects Transcendents and above (level 10 spellcasters) against the misappropriation of their Mage runes for deception. Anyone attempting such an act must undergo three compulsory Will Saving Throws to prevent the three-fold curse of the Magic Goddess from befalling them.

The first curse permanently drains two points from one’s Strength Attribute.

The second curse permanently drains two points from one’s Intelligence Attribute.

The third curse permanently drains two points from one’s Intelligence Attribute, and any additional spells gained from high Attributes will be lost for one month.

Due to this feature, lower-level Spellcasters rarely create their own Mage runes, and even if they do, they seldom use them.

Without the protection of the Magic Goddess, they also risk mockery from other Mages.

Only Transcendent Archmages would openly use their own Mage runes.

These Mage runes are like identity tags for Spellcasters; recognizing these runes could potentially reveal the Transcendent Archmage standing behind them.

Manson, Bozor, Mels.

Gaven recognized at least three Mage runes on these items.

With each identification, his heart involuntarily skipped a beat.

There was no need to elaborate on the first two—the Santarin Association’s top two leaders, both of whom were terrifying beings who had stepped into the Legendary realm.

The latter was the City Lord of Far Mountain City, the Great Commander of the Crimson Feather Commerce Guild, and the one who suffered the most from this heist.

This batch of goods was even hotter to the touch than Gaven had imagined; a slight misstep, and the storm it triggered could swallow him whole.

If it weren’t for Lord Virginia backing him, the wisest move would have been to take the goods and rush to seek refuge with Komeer, using them as a bargaining chip for protection.

Gaven decided that for the time being, he would not show his face in the Rocklands but rather hole up in the Spring Bud Forest.

It wasn’t just him; the Hobgoblin Wolf Cavalry led by Blood Claw who had participated in this mission, one and all, were summoned by him into the Dragon Oak Dragon Nest. He also bestowed upon them the same dream realm energy protection to prevent them from becoming targets of tracking or prophetic targeting.

Gaven’s conjecture was not wrong.

Indeed, this incident whipped up a storm in Santiel Fortress, in Far Mountain City, and even throughout the Moon Sea Region.

Two days later, this storm reached its peak.

The invisible ruler of the Moon Sea Region and the Leader of the Santarin Association, Manson himself, appeared above Far Mountain City. The tall man enveloped in a huge black cloak, his face mostly hidden by a battle throat-guard revealing only his eyes, was shrouded in mighty Magic Power. A massive convergence of elements swirled around him, causing the very color of the sky to change, and the winds and clouds to cease.

The entire Far Mountain City was under his dreadful intimidation, and his chilling voice filled everyone’s ears, "Tell Mels to come out and meet me."

The whole city stopped functioning at that moment.

Merchants ceased their hawking, pedestrians halted in their tracks, the noisy crowd in the taverns fell silent, and even the children stopped their cries.

This was the deterrence of a Legendary Mage, just one person, but more chilling than an army of tens of thousands.

An army of tens of thousands might not be able to conquer a city, but a Legendary Mage had the power to blast it into the sky.
