Chapter 1073: Chapter 624 Above the Nine Rings_2
For the Conqueror Army, the Bridge of the Human God was their castle fortress, designed exactly with this concept in mind by Gaven and his team.
The remaining hundred Tower War Chariots weren’t idle either, but were staggered in two rows on the Human God Bridge, to prevent enemies from popping up again from the side of the Wild Border River.
After the Pioneer Army of the Founders and the Limb Severing Vanguard completed their assembly to the west, they did not rashly enter the battlefield. Instead, they formed a huge encirclement in the mode of a moving chariot formation, like pincers, squeezing towards the Monster Army which had already been severely diminished.
Their objectives in battle were clear: First, to provide long-range fire support for the main forces on the battlefield. The sides of these flank chariots were also equipped with Cart Heavy Crossbow Vehicles, but due to the formation, they could only fire through reserved shooting holes. As the flank chariots moved, they were free to open fire.
Second, to prepare for the further annihilation of the enemy’s main force and new tactics. When the enemy is completely defeated, they will form two walls, preventing them from fleeing through their own lines.
From a bird’s-eye view, centered on the western entrance of the Bridge of the Human God, a huge pocket formation was taking shape.
How much power this pocket formation could exert depended on the dual kings at the center of the pocket, and whether they could crush Plunderer’s Chosen, along with the Blood Plunderer Brigade he led.
A spell is a spell, gathering natural phenomena quickly and dispersing just as fast, even a Ninth Ring Spell is no exception.
One second it’s a storm, the next second the magic power is exhausted and the storm subsides. Although it’s not to the point of a bright sunny sky, at least the visibility is no longer affected.
And then the next second, the most intense battle erupted.
What was said before about not moving in the dark only applies to beings of normal intelligence.
Neither Plunderer Kallargos nor his followers fit into this category. Those two Plunderer’s Chosen actually took advantage of the storm to hide their tracks, and relying on memory, they charged furiously, trying to launch a surprise attack.
This kind of crazed action had its pros and cons.
On the plus side, they had closed the distance to Gaven and his team, especially the two Plunderer’s Chosen, who were only dozens of steps away from Gaven and Katherine respectively.
The one who reached Gaven wasn’t the Hobgoblin Chosen who initially charged at him, but the Jackalwere Chosen.
The Hobgoblin Chosen made his way towards Katherine instead, creating a perfect misalignment.
The disadvantage was that there was a serious disconnection within the Conqueror Army, and the number of Blood Plunderers guarding the Hobgoblin Chosen drastically decreased. Originally, there were at least over two hundred Blood Plunderers and six or seven hundred Blood Berserkers around them.
Now at most only about a hundred Blood Plunderers remained around them, the others either stayed in place, were scattered along the way or misplaced direction, running towards the sides or away from Gaven and Katherine.
But neither the Jackalwere Chosen of the Plunderers nor the Blood Plunderers cared at all. They had no intention of waiting for their troops to catch up and launched an attack directly on Gaven and his group—they would deem even the slightest hesitation as a blasphemy towards Plunderer Kallargos.
For his concept of war was to charge forward relentlessly. Hesitation and retreat were the actions of the weak and would become the targets of plunder.
"Iron Tempest!" Both the Jackalwere Chosen of the Plunderers and the Blood Plunderers, before officially launching their final attack, did the same action: They threw their Blood Cloaks forward.
Some of them split directly from above, reconverging in the blink of an eye into thick Blood Phantom arms, each holding a Blood Phantom Scimitar.
These scimitar-wielding Blood Phantom arms, five in a group, bent like spinning tops, with the blades of the scimitars facing outwards, forming wheels.
This shape was the Holy Emblem of Plunderer Kallargos.
Like a whole entity, they advanced forward in the form of wheels, accompanied by sharp wailing sounds. Even without the solid characteristics demonstrated by the Blood Cloaks before, nobody would consider them harmless phantoms.
This was another exclusive ritualistic ability of the Plunderers, Iron Tempest, a Fifth Circle spell.
These Iron Tempests hovered in front of their users, moving in sync with their advance, starting their whirling assault with a wailing spin.
Due to the differences in their troops’ composition, the methods displayed by Gaven and Katherine’s sides were entirely different.
"Form up, raise shields." Under the command of several Hobgoblin Giant commanders, the dispersed Hobgoblin Giants around the Lizard Queen swiftly assembled on either side of her, forming ten battle squads of ten members each.
The large Warshields in the hands of the Hobgoblin Giants overlapped one another to form a giant Wall Shield, completely protecting them.
And dozens of Iron Tempests, along with the Blood Plunderers charged up and violently collided against their Wall Shields.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Squeak! Squeak! Squeak!
For a moment, all that echoed around were the sounds of metal clashing, mixed with the piercing noise of metal scraping.
When the Iron Tempests slashed, there were obvious dragging traces. If they slashed at flesh and blood, it would result in more than a mere wound—it would cut out a large gash.
