Chapter 1023: Chapter 607: The Formidable Lizard Queen_3
Hou!
The moment she stepped onto the Bridge of Human God, the Lizard Queen once again stretched out her stout neck and let out a terrifying roar in all directions. River water mixed with her acidic, viscous saliva sprayed out with the sound waves, and even more terrifying was the horrendous stench that the air carried—a mix of stomach acid, rotted corpses and fermentation, among many other odors. It was so putrid that even the smell of a latrine that hadn’t been cleaned in a hundred years wouldn’t compare to a tenth of the stench emitted from her mouth. Many people uncontrollably doubled over and vomited on the spot, and this bio-attack was clearly tied to magic, to magic effects.
In its wake also spread the true power belonging to magic.
This was a natural ability only accessible to dragons of a certain age.
This ability went by many names: Ferocious Momentum, Majestic Aura, and Terrifying Demeanor among others, but it was commonly referred to as Dragon Might—a term crafted specifically for humanoid creatures praising the demeanor of another.
Experts who studied the Giant Dragons discovered that the elements composing the Dragon Might were many, including external factors such as magic which did indeed enhance it to some degree.
The most important factor, however, was internal: the infamous savagery of dragons, their terrifying body type and appearance, all contributed bonuses to this special ability. In other words, the greater the reputation, the more ferocious and larger the Giant Dragon, the stronger its Dragon Might and the harder for ordinary people to withstand it, and vice versa.
Moreover, it would receive a certain regional enhancement; after all, a Giant Dragon famous in one place might be utterly unknown in another. The effect of this ability on enemies and allies was completely different, as it involved psychological effects on people.
The Dragon Might of the Lizard Queen had reached an unprecedented peak as she casually engulfed several Mad Frogmen who were too slow to charge, crunching and swallowing them down as if they were candy. A serious polarization occurred between allies and foes.
"Her Majesty, hou, with Her Majesty we shall be invincible in battle."
"Her Majesty, Her Majesty has taken personal action. This battle is ours to win. Charge, kill all these foolish humans, all the riches belong to Her Majesty."
"Guagua, guagua, guagua, Lord is here. Those who don’t want to die, charge with me and seize these Ballista Carts. We cannot let them pose any threat to Her Majesty."
Morale among the Lizardfolk and Mad Frogmen was driven to an extreme.
The Blackscaled Lizardfolk did so because of their close relationship and unwavering faith in the Lizard Queen’s strength.
As for the Mad Frogmen, it was due to a deep-seated fear from their very bones. Calling them servants of the Lizard Queen was putting it nicely; they were actually her living provisions, destined to be eaten—a fate inescapable in this lifetime, merely a question of sooner or later. What they sought was to be eaten later or, in other words, to be devoured after death, not while still alive.
"What is this monster? Wasn’t the Lizard Queen supposed to be a Black Dragon? How did a meatball resembling a Black Dragon bounce out here?"
"That is a Black Dragon, that is the Lizard Queen, just incredibly gluttonous and fat."
"Run, we can’t confront this Giant Dragon, run!"
"Ah ah ah... run, get out of the way, don’t block me..."
"You’ll die, you’ll really die, get out of my way."
"Stay calm, stay calm, don’t panic, take a deep breath, stay calm... Ah... you idiot..."
"Don’t panic, everyone stay in your positions, keep your defenses, falling into disorder will only lead you to die faster. Lord will not ignore this situation."
"Don’t run around, hold your positions, look, look, that’s Five-Willow True Form controlled by Lord. Lord himself is taking action. Our Lord is a Dragon Slayer, in front of Lord, this Black Dragon is merely a slightly bigger lizard."
The Conqueror Army, on the other hand, was far more chaotic. Anyone who could see the immense body of the Lizard Queen had to undergo a test of will, although those crouched inside the Tower War Chariots fared better. The difficulty of these tests of will varied with the distance to the Lizard Queen.
Firstly, the visual impact was less, and secondly, the chance of being attacked was relatively smaller, therefore the sensation of fear was somewhat lesser.
Those who were only twenty meters from the Lizard Queen – not just the armed settlers, but even the front line commanders and Hobgoblin Soldiers – were completely overwhelmed by fear, uncontrollably sprinting away from her. Some even leapt over the side of the Human God Bridge and plummeted into the raging river below, surrounded by scores of Lizardfolk and Mad Frogmen. Such actions only guaranteed a quicker death.
Even the two Hobgoblin Giants were not spared from difficulty, although their symptoms were slightly milder; they did not descend into total loss of control but trembled—adrenaline surged through their bodies due to extreme terror, causing uncontrollable violent shaking that impacted their combat performance.
Not only Hobgoblin Giants, but even Conqueror Army soldiers further from the Lizard Queen were mostly in the same state. Many frontline commanders diligently tried to maintain the unity of the formation, knowing that in such situations, sticking together meant a higher chance of survival. Because the Lizard Queen could only attack so much area at a time, compared to her direct assaults, the surrounding Blackscaled Lizardfolk and Mad Frogmen posed an even greater threat. Once their formation broke, they would certainly launch a ferocious counterattack.
However, the effect they could bring to bear was exceedingly limited, especially when the Lizard Queen lifted her head to inhale crazily, swelling her fat chest to an exaggerated extent.
Regardless of whether one had fallen under fear’s dominion, all would dash away from it.
