Chapter 1015: Chapter 605: Divine Response
Wild Border River was now within reach, and from hundreds of meters in the sky, they could already see the surface of the river—right in front of the Conqueror Army, a bridge of immense proportions faintly visible, as if it were composed of mist.
Literally, the bridge over the river seemed to be made of fog, its appearance somewhat evanescent, many parts appearing and disappearing intermittently.
Directly above this bridge hovered an equally mist-made giant figure, a white-haired but handsome human male radiating regal majesty. He leaned on a massive two-handed greatsword, with a cloak wrapped around him, which, even as a mere misty apparition, clearly seemed to be whipped about violently by the wind, entwining around its master.
This misty apparition was none other than the Windslaver, the Hand of Aid, the God of the Road, Mount Dakor.
As the Conqueror Army’s convoy approached this yet insubstantial bridge, the trucks carrying the huge stones were immediately enveloped by a violent whirlwind and lifted into the air.
Amidst incredulous gasps, these boulders flew toward the still-phantasmal bridge.
These boulders, like fireballs flung by a mage, grew continuously larger as they flew, and transformed profoundly in shape and size, expanding by tenfold when they reached the bridge, perfectly matching the spot where they were to land.
As each of these massive stones settled into place, the once illusory bridge became solidly real at the point of contact, without any visible seam, as if it were naturally formed, seamlessly unified.
Seeing this, the fervor in the crowd of the Conqueror Army grew louder, and their eyes lit up with boundless zeal, while the merging speed of the bridge accelerated, and the remaining misty parts began showing signs of solidifying on their own.
"With the physical as the primer and faith as the cornerstone, mortals answer to the divine, joining hands to create the unprecedented Bridge of Human and God. The God of the Road has made a fine stroke, and General Gaven is a genius of the highest order, even making a deity serve his purpose. They’re sure to win this war; it’s just a matter of seeing who they’ll devour next," the Crown Princess’s eyes shimmered with excitement, but her gaze wasn’t fixed on the God of Travel and Exploration, Mount Dakor, or the Bridge of Human and God; rather, it was on that towering Half-Elf.
This person was terrifyingly formidable. If they couldn’t tie him to the Komeer Kingdom, then they would have to destroy him by any means necessary. Otherwise, one day, he would consume the Komeer Kingdom like a greedy Demon Whale swallowing it whole.
Marriage was the most advantageous method of binding.
Of course, this meant allowing him to consume the Komeer Kingdom, since his offspring would become the future kings of the Komeer Kingdom. But this was a mutual devouring; the Komeer Kingdom would gain all the territories he conquered. Such expansion would surpass any Komeer dynasty over a millennium, and this grand accomplishment would be completed under her own hands.
"Is this even a bridge? It’s more like a fortress straddling the river," Yalusai couldn’t help but exclaim once again.
The feeling wasn’t distinct while the bridge was still an unstable mist, but became apparent as the bridge-stones fell into place.
The bridge was monstrously large—not a two-lane, not a four-lane, but wide enough for eight tower war chariots to race side by side.
Even more absurd was that instead of side railings, the flanks of the bridge were built like the battlements of city walls, with half-man-tall crenellations and arrow slits. The bridge, rising almost ten meters above the river, was akin to the top of a city wall.
Even the relatively inexperienced Yalusai fully grasped the situation, exclaiming, "They’re not just trying to cross the river, they’re preparing to turn this miraculous bridge into a defensive fortress for a counterattack battle. They’ve created this battlefield for themselves, and this strategy is simply brilliant. Even the followers of the God of Conspiracy at Dark Castle wouldn’t expect General Gaven and his team to have this up their sleeve. Here they come, here comes the Lizard Queen with her Lizardfolk Army returning to the fray, haha! When they left, this place was barren, but upon return, a never-before-seen bridge dominates the river. I wonder what sort of expression Her Majesty the Queen will wear?"
From hundreds of meters in the air, they had the advantage of surveying the entire battlefield.
Several kilometers away, they saw the tumultuous wave stirred up by the Lizard Queen leading the Lizardfolk Army, ferociously surging toward them.
Riding the downstream current, fueled by raging anger from being outmaneuvered, the Lizard Queen’s waves were even larger and more magnificent than before, standing fifteen meters above the river’s surface.
Such colossal waves were a rarity even at sea.
The unimaginable force of this single wave could topple most ordinary bridges, not to mention the presence of a monstrous Giant Dragon and its brood.
But considering the soon-to-be-completed Bridge of Human and God and the oncoming giant waves, Yalusai couldn’t help but shake his head, silently mourning the Lizard Queen and her Lizardfolk Army for three minutes. It was certain they would be the ones left battered and broken.
