Chapter 1010: Chapter 603 Battle Begins_2
Of course, this doesn’t mean they were completely inactive. At the West Gate Tower Fort of the Komeer Kingdom, they had assembled a corps of three thousand men from the Purple Dragon Legion, led personally by their heir, Crown Princess Tainalasta. They were certainly not there just to fill numbers.
As soon as the Conqueror Army made a move, they would definitely follow deep into the Goblin Margins, scavenging for advantages, something every power liked to do. Even the Komeer Kingdom, which was known as a force of good, was no exception. As for whose loss they would profit from, that would depend on how the war situation developed.
Even if the Conqueror Army were defeated, they could still take the opportunity to absorb some of the defeated soldiers and refugees to strengthen themselves. This was an advantage of their position as a human force of good.
"They’ve assembled a claimed force of a hundred thousand monsters, moving toward the Wild Border River, but such self-proclaimed numbers are likely as exaggerated as the waters of a marsh. If their numbers exceed fifty thousand, that would be impressive enough; and a large part of that is just Goblin cannon fodder," said the Spirit Soul Naga with hardly concealed disdain when discussing Dark Castle.
It was unclear whether the disdain was directed at the gathering of miscellaneous troops or stemmed from the hatred between the two sides.
"On the frontline, this mixed army will definitely not exert much combat strength, but if they rely on the defense along the Wild Border River, they will cause significant trouble for the Conqueror Army, and provide us with a huge advantage when harvesting in the water," said the Lizard Queen, her small eyes shining with wisdom and cunning.
Anyone who thought that her corpulence meant she lacked brains or combat strength would likely soon become her next meal.
"The Conqueror Army has set out, set out!" a Black Dragon Half-Dragon Lizardman announced while flapping its wings, flying into the Dragon’s Nest Palace.
"What is their march route?" the Spirit Soul Naga quickly asked.
"They are heading straight for the bridge construction site at the Far Sea Marsh along the road they have just built," answered the Black Dragon Half-Dragon Lizardman promptly.
"It’s our turn to set out," the Lizard Queen declared with a high-pitched dragon roar that pierced the clouds. Despite her unbelievably bulky body, her slender and seemingly delicate dragon wings began to beat rapidly. For a time, the entire Dragon’s Nest Palace was caught in a whirlwind of sorts. The Spirit Soul Naga had to coil itself up to avoid being blown away by the gust.
Swaying, the Lizard Queen managed to lift her front feet off the ground, ready to take flight.
She demonstrated what was meant by "great size, great strength," as her power seemed to break through some limit.
But her weight also reached an unprecedented level, certainly beyond her own estimates and the carrying capacity of her wings.
With a roar, the Lizard Queen, not one to give up easily, stirred her body fats, which resembled tumors embedded in her skin. Those fats began to quiver. Without disappearing, they subtly shifted their arrangement, forming a unique rune pattern. A massive whirlwind appeared out of nowhere, wrapping around her immense body and lifting it, aiding her in flight.
With external forces helping, the Lizard Queen finally managed to fly, though from a distance, she looked less like an agile giant dragon and more like a meatball with wings. She could fly, at most, but don’t expect her speed or agility to be remarkable.
To such a sight, both the Spirit Soul Naga and the Black Dragon Half-Dragon Lizardman were accustomed.
Only Mickros couldn’t help but change his expression slightly. Controlling her own fat to achieve a type of magic effect was a special ability he had neither seen nor even heard of before, likely stemming from a Transcendent or Legendary Constitution, tailor-made for her.
Assisting in flight was just one of the uses of this ability. There were undoubtedly many other ingenious applications, too varied to guess. One thing, however, was certain: not only was her constitution amazing, but her defensive power was probably just as astounding. Her layer of fat was her best shield and armor; wounds that would be fatal to others might just be a mere itch to her.
After the shock, came an undeniable joy, for the other party was now an ally. The strength she displayed, the more potent it was, the greater the help to him. He was already looking forward to the stunning scene when the Lizard Queen appeared above the Conqueror Army.
She alone could easily disrupt the entire war situation.
Forget ordinary stone bridges; even those built with magic wouldn’t withstand the frenzied flailing of such a massive creature, weighing hundreds of tons. Without an equipped team with high-quality coordination in all respects—a legendary squadron of four to five—slaying a dragon was an impossible task. Although the Lizard Queen was of elderly age, her unrestrained gluttony had piled up strength far beyond that of other dragons her age.
Let alone dragons of her own age, Mickros was not optimistic even about those a stage older than her.
Of course, this was only if the giant dragon was willing to fight her head-on. If any other giant dragon wanted to flee, given her clumsy current flight and slow flight speed, by the time she took off, the opponent would be long gone.
"The whole army, attack! Alhashan, don’t forget to bring our guests," the Lizard Queen’s imposing form had already flown out of the reserved skylight of the Dragon’s Nest Palace, but her booming voice still echoed back.
