Chapter 328: Chapter 329: Determined to Take Someone Down With Me_1 Chapter 328: Chapter 329: Determined to Take Someone Down With Me_1 Muniang felt her slender arm, who would have thought that hidden beneath her sleeve was a tiny sleeve-crossbow already loaded with three short arrows, ready to save her life when necessary? Muniang’s eyes twinkled, concealing the fierce color at the bottom of her pupils.
The carriage slowly entered a woodland, and Muniang knew that the Hidden Guards were following behind. Since the enemy had so brazenly lured them in, they must have prepared countermeasures.
Sure enough, it didn’t take long for Yu Ze’s Hidden Guards to sense something was amiss. After all, the carriage’s path was becoming increasingly strange. A Hidden Guard planned to personally inquire about the situation, but as soon as he got close to the carriage, the coachman sent him flying with an unexpected palm strike.
The Hidden Guards were shocked, realizing the peculiarity of the carriage. They drew their swords and charged at it, and it was evident that the enemy had made arrangements as well, as more black-clothed figures leapt out from all around, their strength comparable to Yu Ze’s Hidden Guards.
The carriage suddenly stopped, seeming to have reached its destination. Now that they were exposed, it no longer mattered whether they needed Xi’er for leverage. The guard was not a heartless person, so he pulled Xi’er out of Qiao Yuanzhen’s embrace and threw her into Li Qinghe’s arms. Then, he placed a knife to Muniang’s neck and forced her to go out. Outside, amidst the flashing of swords and shadows, he remained calm, as if not the least bit worried about his own men losing the fight.
Upon stepping out, Muniang gasped in shock. The spot was a sheer cliff with raging Jiangshui river below. Could it be they intended to throw her down?!
The guard holding the knife against Muniang confirmed her fear with his icy gaze, indeed.
Yu Ze’s only weakness was her. Simply killing her would be of no use; instead, it would enrage Yu Ze against Qilian Kingdom, further fueling his hatred. Now that the major conflict at the border had begun, Qiao Muniang’s fate from falling here was uncertain. With Yu Ze’s personality, he would undoubtedly not rest until he found her, and it was only by doing this that they could naturally delay him.
The sound of fighting continued incessantly. The Hidden Guards realized they couldn’t protect their principal and cursed themselves for their carelessness. One of them quickly disengaged and took the opportunity to set off a signal flare into the sky. A small firework burst mid-air, visible only to Yu Ze, who could prevent the situation from escalating.
Nangong Qian suddenly appeared, swirling his sleeves to unleash a powerful burst of Inner Strength, extinguishing the firework mid-bloom, then struck the signaling Hidden Guard with a fatal palm.
“What are you waiting for? Attack!” commanded Nangong Qian, his eyes icy cold, clearly intent on putting Muniang to death.
The guard responded and raised his hand to push Muniang, but she caught him off guard by suddenly grabbing his arm and twisting it. The guard had not expected this move and found himself powerless to stop her. Muniang was faster, curling up her leg and delivering a kick that sent the guard plummeting off the cliff. She, on the other hand, stood firm, now holding a knife in her hand.
Muniang took a slight breath of relief, but seeing the fighting Hidden Guards entangled and unable to rescue her, and the man in black standing before her, her heart was still in knots. She had already witnessed this man’s skills; she was no match for him.
But would she just wait for death? Impossible! Muniang’s eyes darkened, clearly devising a plan.
Nangong Qian’s eyes narrowed slightly as a smile played on his lips, “Interesting, indeed you are the woman Yu Ze values. I underestimated you.”
No sooner had his words fallen than the smile vanished, and he lunged at Muniang with incredible speed. Muniang narrowly dodged. Her vision was exceptionally sharp, and she had noticed a slight movement in his sleeve as he spoke, realizing he was preparing to attack. Thus, she managed to evade before he could strike. However, Nangong Qian pursued her relentlessly, pushing Muniang to the edge of the cliff.
Cold sweat dripped profusely from Muniang’s forehead.
As Nangong Qian struck out with his palm, Muniang dodged to the side, clearly about to fall off the cliff. Nangong Qian smiled faintly, “The woman is a good one, it’s truly a pity.”
A cold smirk crept over Muniang’s lips, “No pity. If I die, I’ll have you accompany me!” Before Nangong Qian could react, Muniang was already clutching his robe desperately, clearly intent on taking him down with her as she lost her balance entirely.
Nangong Qian’s pupils shrank, he bellowed, “Seeking death!” With that, he sent a palm strike toward Muniang’s chest.
But in the blink of an eye, before he could muster his Inner Strength, a short arrow from Muniang’s sleeve shot out and hit Nangong Qian directly in the chest. As blood spurted out, Muniang had already completely lost her balance. Nangong Qian could never have anticipated this move, wondering what on earth had just come shooting out of that sleeve!
A chilly smile played across Muniang’s lips. Yu Ze had once told her that to injure someone skilled in martial arts, one must first learn to find their weakest spot; one is when they are enraged, most prone to carelessness, and the other is when they are gathering Inner Strength, at their most vulnerable. Nangong Qian fell for both, it would have been strange had the trick not worked.
Standing on the edge of the cliff, Nangong Qian wouldn’t have been severely damaged by the arrow, but the moment’s distraction caused him to lose his balance. Coupled with that damned woman clutching onto him and refusing to let go, their ultimate fate was to tumble down together.
For the first time, Nangong Qian was outsmarted by a woman without a hint of Inner Strength. He had arrogantly believed he had no equals in this world, but this unexpected turn of events had forced him to reevaluate everything.
When Muniang woke, Nangong Qian was still unconscious. From the fall to being washed by the river, all she did was cling to Nangong Qian relentlessly. It must be said, the man was resilient; even with an arrow in him, he managed to survive the rough river currents for so long, only fainting once he reached the shore.
Taking him down with her was indeed the right decision; otherwise, in such a rapid river, she might have died several times over with her physical strength.
Muniang struggled to stand up, taking in her surroundings — thick bushes everywhere. Could the river have carried her outside the city walls?
After being washed by the river for what seemed like ages and then being unconscious for just as long, she was now famished. She immediately got up to find some wild berries to satiate her hunger.
As Muniang picked a few fruits at random, she noticed Nangong Qian seemed to have woken up, a deep and endless look in his eyes, not sure if he was driven mad by rage or something else.
What a joke — who initiated the fight? If he hadn’t treated her that way, why would she resort to underhanded tactics? Did he really think she was so easy to bully?
Nangong Qian was indeed close to madness. It was bad enough that this woman had dragged him down, but she also used him as a flotation device the entire way, impossible to shake off! And there she was, comfortably eating fruits as if nothing had happened while he still had an arrow in his wound!
