Chapter 957: 【957】Transfer to Emergency

Teacher Fu’s gaze seemed to penetrate right into her mind. Zhou Junpeng, observing from the side, couldn’t help but think so. Mainly because he couldn’t quite understand whether her emergency treatment was the result of a correct scientific judgment or just a stroke of luck.

A while later, hearing commotion, Fu Xinheng turned his head back first.

A group of people pushing gurneys and wheelchairs arrived and asked him, "Doctor Fu, can the patient be moved now?"

"Move," Fu Xinheng gestured dismissively. The patient’s heart rate, which was nearly at the point of sudden death, had been brought down by her. How could it not be moved? Although he temporarily couldn’t understand how she managed to rescue the patient accurately.

Everyone quickly lifted the patient onto the gurney. Following them was the on-duty surgeon from the emergency department, and it was Doctor Zhong from General Surgery Department Two.

Xie Wanying saw this and knew she should have called Teacher Zhu from General Surgery Department Two earlier. However, she didn’t have Teacher Zhong’s mobile number.

"What’s the situation with this person, Doctor Fu?" Doctor Zhong asked first, looking at the patient on the gurney.

Fu Xinheng and Zhou Junpeng were stunned for a moment, then quickly remembered what Xie Wanying had mentioned on the phone: "Heatstroke."

Severe heatstroke was no joke; they immediately rushed back to the emergency room for resuscitation.

The gurney’s wheels clattered as they transported the patient to the emergency room. Doctor Zhong then turned and saw two other people sitting on the ground, looking like patients. He was startled and exclaimed, "Doctor Li, Teacher Lu?"

Li Xiaobing had already ceased speaking when she saw Fu Xinheng appear, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

Teacher Lu wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand and tried to stand up, "I’m fine."

"Teacher Lu, please, take a seat," Doctor Zhong hurriedly walked over and supported the elderly man, calling for a wheelchair for Teacher Lu to sit in, although it was not yet clear what was wrong with him.

Sweating profusely—could it be heatstroke as well?

"You all should focus on her first; she is pregnant," Teacher Lu said to them.

Pregnancy meant caring for two lives in one.

Understood. Zhou Junpeng personally went to assist Li Xiaobing. As the wife of Teacher Zhu from his own department, she had to be treated with the utmost care.

The group pushed two wheelchairs back to the emergency room, with Xie Wanying following behind the teachers.

The internal medicine doctors in the emergency room were already on standby. As the patient with severe heatstroke was brought in, they immediately applied ice and air conditioning for cooling down, then administered intravenous fluids to rehydrate.

The two wheelchairs were pushed into the emergency observation room. Li Xiaobing was helped onto an observation bed, where the nurses, following doctor’s orders, put an oxygen tube on her and provided low-flow oxygen.

Her breathing was slightly rapid, her heart rate a bit high. Her temperature, which was higher outside, had dropped after entering the air-conditioned room. It didn’t seem to be a fever.

Remembering what Xie Wanying had said on the phone, the nurses brought over an ECG machine, and Zhou Junpeng performed an electrocardiogram for the patient.

Standing to the side, Fu Xinheng watched the proceedings below with an impassive gaze.

Teacher Lu no longer sat in the wheelchair. Doctor Zhong and Xie Wanying helped her to a chair because the teacher insisted she didn’t need to lie down.

"I’m fine now, go take care of the other patients," Teacher Lu urged Doctor Zhong away.

"What’s wrong, Teacher?" Doctor Zhong bent down to ask. Teacher Lu was a greatly respected senior figure both at the medical college and the hospital; if she was ill, she certainly needed special attention.

"It’s probably because it was too hot outside. Look at her; she’s feeling unwell too. I’m the same. At my age, I can’t handle the heat; it caused some spasms in my intestines," Teacher Lu said while touching her belly, "It’s better now, it doesn’t hurt anymore. It only hurt for a moment."
