Chapter 48: 045. Kalomba Ritual.

Inside the large room that could be considered a shared room, several mattresses were no longer used and there was only one mattress that still looked well-maintained.

One mattress was in the corner of the room and on it, sat Zaskia who was hugging her knees.

The woman sat leaning against the wall while occasionally sighing heavily.

"Stupid Nabil, now I can’t sleep," muttered Zaskia who was now reminded of the bad memories of her school days.

"What does he really think?" she muttered with a rather pitiable look.

She buried her face in her knees and hugged them tightly.

"Stupid Nabil."

---------------------------------------------

Both eyes suddenly opened wide and Reizel found himself lying on the sofa in the living room.

All the lights had been turned off and all he could see was darkness. At least for a few minutes before his eyes finally got used to the situation without light.

He looked around and he finally realized that he was inside Salma’s house.

After Aril had fully recovered, they left the hotel they had made a temporary stopover in.

And although technically they had all gone home. Aril was planning to move on and leave the city of Palu. And tonight was their last night in Palu.

It was perfectly normal to rest early before leaving for a long travel, but Reizel woke up in the middle of the night.

The strange reaction felt by the wavy-haired man made Reizel himself uncomfortable.

He looked down at his hands that were trembling slightly and the cold sweat that was pouring down his face.

That premonition... he felt it again...

Lately he had begun to feel a strange sensation that made him dizzy, nauseous, and sometimes short of breath.

"They’re doing it again?" Muttered Reizel who was holding his head which seemed to be throbbing.

After a while, he looked around again and realized that the door of the house was not closed tightly.

The man walked out and found Aril who was standing in the middle of the street, looking far to the southwest direction.

Aril’s gaze was serious and worried at the same time. Reizel didn’t want to disturb the young man but it was too late because Aril had glanced at him. The sharp glance seemed to invite Reizel to talk about something important.

Reizel sighed heavily and had no choice but to walk over.

"Why are you outside? In the middle of night like this, you can -"

"Can be attacked by creatures like demons and ghosts?" asked Aril with a swiftness that didn’t even give Reizel room to finish his sentence.

Reizel wanted to take it as a joke, but he couldn’t, he knew that Aril was not that kind of person. Coupled with the look in his eyes that pierced straight into Reizel’s soul.

Reizel swallowed his own saliva and could only stay silent.

"Earlier when you talked to the gatekeeper in Donggala... When the gatekeeper described the monster’s features, if I’m not mistaken, you said (Kalomba), right?" asked Aril seriously.

Reizel averted his gaze, not wanting to look Aril directly in the eye. "What are you talking about? Everyone already knows about the myth of Kalomba. It’s nothing new."

Aril narrowed his eyes and looked at Reizel. "But your expression back then says that you know something more than that."

Reizel didn’t answer, he didn’t even look at Aril directly.

Aril sighed. "It’s probably not important anymore anyway. Tomorrow, we’ll leave this city."

Aril walked towards the house and as he stood parallel to Reizel, the young man stopped. He didn’t look at Reizel, he just stared ahead.

"It’s not that I care about your past or your background or your problems. But if it could endanger Putri’s life, I suggest you to saying it now," said Aril who slightly glanced at Reizel’s face.

The wavy-haired man just stayed in place, downcast with an expression as if holding back pain.

Physical pain?

It’s highly unlikely...

Aril stepped his feet and walked into the house. "If you don’t want to tell me, I’ll consider it as unimportant matter for now."

"Aril..."

That one word managed to stop his steps, Aril did not turn around, but his entire attention was on Reizel.

"Can you feel it too? The Spiritual energy?" asked Reizel though somewhat hesitantly.

"Why are you asking such an absurd question? Of course I feel it, thanks to the demonic power I’m using, I can feel and see things I shouldn’t feel or see. It’s more like a curse," Aril replied firmly.

Reizel frowned slightly. "Curse... Maybe you’re right."

"Oh yeah, I’m just curious, you can feel the air or aura of the existence of spiritual things, right? Can you also see them? Like ghosts or something." asked Aril.

"Unfortunately I can’t see ghosts," Reizel replied.

"Oh... Good then, I thought you have a weird fetish for letting a naked male ghost hug your leg."

"What?!"

--------------------------------------------

After being unconscious for a long time, Jessica opened her eyes slowly.

There was no proper lighting, the temperature was quite cold and there were many mosquitoes trying to bite her.

When she looked closely, Jessica realized that she was in a big cage.

The floor and roof were made of wood. There were no walls, just a collection of iron poles that stood upright at the edge of the floor like a birdcage.

The more attention she paid, the more uncomfortable Jessica became. She now knew she was in the middle of a forest, because of the many trees around her.

There was no one else in the cage, just her alone. In front of Jessica, a large field stretched out and several people in black hoods suddenly came carrying long wooden sticks with burnt tops, it’s look like torch on a stick.

Jessica could not see it clearly at first, but when the hooded men came with the fire, she could see it....

Someone was sitting in the center of the field.

More precisely, a woman whose hands and feet were bound, her mouth also covered with thick tape to prevent her from screaming.

Jessica became suspicious when she could feel the mind waves of a nearby system user, but she didn’t expect it to be in front of her.

Did her ability weakening?

But why?

Jessica wanted to answer that question, but she dismissed her curiosity when she realized the woman was one of Johan’s subordinates.

"What do they want to do?!" Jessica held the cold metal bars with both hands.

Upon further inspection, the woman was sitting on the ground with line that formed a large circle.

3 circles that were about 2 meters apart from each other and formed a triangular pattern with each circle being the corner.

But Jessica only saw the woman sitting inside the circle. The other 2 circles appeared empty.

Not long after, a man came and entered one of the circles.

Now, there was only one empty circle.

"What are they trying to do?" muttered Jessica, who didn’t understand the strange mystical ritual that was happening in front of her.

Not long after, one of the black hooded men stepped into the center of the field.

He spilled something into the last circle.

It was coconut pulp. The white contents inside of the coconut that shredded into a fine, cottony mass.

But what was it for?

Fortunately it didn’t take long for Jessica, as her question was answered instantly.

From out of the darkness, a creature appeared. Its arrival sent chills down to Jessica’s spine.

Jessica’s eyes widened and her mouth opened wide in shock.

She could see it quite clearly....

It was a large goat with a height of more than one meter. But what surprised Jessica was not its size...

It was its face....

The face the creature had was not that of a goat, but of a human.
