Chapter 807: Turning over a new leaf? - Part 1
"What are you thinking, Aria?" Noah stared at the lady who seemed to be lost in thoughts. She kept frowning every now and then, making him wonder what was running in her mind.
"I’m wondering what Ivy will do now," Aria mumbled as she looked at her feet absent-mindedly.
"What do you mean?" Noah couldn’t fathom where Aria’s thoughts were going. She seemed to be perturbed over some matter, no doubt about Ivy. But he couldn’t comprehend what.
"I’m thinking about her mental well-being. I’m just... she’s just..." Aria’s lips trembled as she forced down her sobs that were threatening to escape her lips.
"Aria..." Noah sighed and pulled her into his embrace as he patted her back. "Ivy is a strong woman. She’ll make it out." He stated, hiding his traces of doubts as much as possible.
Noah didn’t know if Ivy would be as strong as before. He didn’t know if she’d continue to be the daring journalist she once was. He didn’t know how her life would be from now on, what path she’d choose. All he hoped for her was to continue to be the person she wanted and not give up because of anyone. Not for Joshua and definitely not for Jared.
"I hope so as well," Aria muttered into his chest as she relaxed lightly while Noah looked far ahead thoughtfully.
"How is Jared?" She queried after some time. This was the first time she was enquiring about him since they captured him.
Aria did not doubt Noah would give him the ’royal’ treatment he deserved. After all, it had taken them a great deal of effort to capture him. Yet, she still wanted to hear from Noah about the man she so desperately wanted to chop to pieces.
"Wishing that he was dead." Noah’s tone was dark and filled with murderous intent as he recalled the state Jared was in when he had visited him. Not a piece of him was intact. Ronnie had made sure to keep him alive, just.
"Not so soon. Ivy will grant him his wish when she feels it. Jared must be kept alive until then."
"Don’t worry. Neither Jared nor Amber will be dying so soon."
"Amber?" Aria pulled away from him instantly, forcing Noah to move his gaze toward her. "Did you capture her as well?"
"Yes, Ma’am." Noah nodded and his lips arched up into a smirk when he noticed her look of approval.
"Awesome. When did you do it?"
"It’s been quite sometime now. Why? What’s wrong?" Noah frowned when he noticed her smiling weirdly at him.
"Is it possible for me to visit her?"
"Umm... sure. But why though?" Noah tilted his head as he absorbed the change in her expression. She looked wickedly attractive at that moment and his heart skipped a beat immediately.
"I’m in the mood to punch someone. I’d love to have her as my punching bag." Aria’s eyes flashed with a killing intent and Noah couldn’t help but shake his head helplessly.
When his lady made a wish like that, what else could he do but oblige obediently?
"Can I say no to that?"
"Do you want to?"
"Nope. Why would I want to miss the front seat to something so interesting? I’ll be your support and hoot for you, not that you need any. You’re going to win of course." Noah started to flatter her and Aria looked at him gloatingly.
"Your future is promising. Continue with your good job."
Aria patted his shoulder arrogantly and Noah didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry. He didn’t have to guess what the ’good job’ she was referring to was. Of course, it was to continue praising her.
"Yes, Madam."
"Good. When are we going?"
"How about in three hours? I have a meeting to attend in the company first."
"That works."
"Do you want to stay with Ivy or do you want to accompany me to the company?"
"To your company?" Aria’s eyes widened in surprise and she gave him an incredulous look.
"Why not? I don’t think you’ve been to my company."
"I haven’t?" Aria tried to recall if she had ever visited his office, but came short.
"You haven’t. Why don’t you accompany me today? Dad and Ian will take care of Ivy." Noah suggested, his eyes filled with hope. He didn’t reveal his intentions in wishing to bring her with him. Given how smart she was, she would deduce it herself.
Aria glanced at the ward door for a few seconds before making her decision. "If you insist. Do I have to watch out for any women who have their eyes on you?"
"Eyes on me?" Noah’s expression contorted in confusion and Aria let out a giggle.
"Well, you’re the dream man for a lot of ladies. It wouldn’t be a wonder if the women working in your company have designs on you." Aria explained and made a face as if she was seriously worried about the issue.
"It doesn’t matter to me. I want to be the dream man of only one woman. I only care if one lady has designs on me and she does. I’m happy and relieved about it." Noah poked her nose and Aria’s smile widened until she was grinning.
"What a sweet tongue!"
"Thank you." Noah beamed. "Shall we leave now?"
"Of course. Let me inform Dad first."
It took them around 20 minutes to reach the office. Noah didn’t bring her up using his personal elevator directly from the parking space as she had expected. Instead, he held her hand and brought her towards the entrance, surprising the guards and receptionists, and Aria as well.
Flashing him a curious look, Aria accompanied him, not avoiding anyone’s gaze on the way. It didn’t matter to her what the world thought of her and if they deemed her worthy of Noah or not. She was with Noah and the truth wouldn’t change just because some people didn’t want her to be with him.
Discerning Noah’s plan, Aria raised her chin and matched her aura with his, making sure to show the world who she was. In no time, the explosive news spread across the office and everyone was talking about her - the mysterious lady who had stolen their Boss’ heart.
Noah led her to the elevator, ignoring all the curious gazes around him. Once the doors closed, he pulled Aria towards him, eliciting a yelp from her.
"That was awesome." He pushed her hair gently as he cupped her cheeks while he leaned against the wall, forcing Aria to lean against him.
"Was it? Did I do well?" Aria was skeptical. She had acted at that moment without thinking. It all happened in an instinct. Now, when she recalled it, she felt utterly embarrassed.
"That was beyond well. Now, the entire company will know who their future Boss Lady is."
"Boss Lady?" Aria’s face scrunched up in disgust. "You make it sound as if I’m the leader of a gang."
"You will be in the future. So, why not?" Noah gave her a mysterious look, perplexing Aria all the more.
"Why will I be a Boss Lady? What are you saying?"
"Well, aren’t we going to create a gang of our own when we have children? Once that happens, wouldn’t you be the Boss Lady?" Noah gave her a cheeky wink, loving Aria’s flustered look. Her cheeks heated up and she avoided his gaze at once.
"What nonsense are you spouting? What kids? What gang?" Aria tried to move away from him. But he wasn’t having any of it and locked his arms around her waist, forcing his lady to stay still.
"What kids?" He quirked his brows questioningly at her. "Don’t worry. We’ll get to that stage soon. Then, you ask me."
Barely had he finished speaking when the elevator doors separated and Noah led Aria to his office, temporarily putting a halt to the conversation.
Aria wasn’t stunned by the minimal decoration and dark aesthetics of the room. It was similar to their bedroom and represented Noah’s character quite well.
"When is your meeting?"
"In ten minutes. Do you want to attend?"
"No. I’ll not interfere with your work. It’s not my forte."
"You can take a look around the company. It may take me around an hour or so." Noah didn’t press her this time, allowing her to have her say.
"That works." Aria nodded as she stood by the window, admiring the view outside.
"Call Ronnie if you need anything."
"Will do."
A knock at the door interrupted them and Ronnie entered the room after receiving the order. One of his eyes was closed as he entered the room carefully. It was as if he was worried that he’d stumble into something that was not suitable for children to watch.
"Ronnie!" Noah warned lightly while Aria burst out laughing when she saw the burly man’s cute expression.
"Boss." Ronnie stiffened and his eyes went wide. He broke into a cold sweat when he noticed his Boss’ displeased expression.
"What is it?"
"Boss, the meeting’s about to begin."
Noah nodded at him before turning his attention to Aria who was smiling mischievously at him. "I’ll be back soon, Aria. We will continue our talk from the elevator later."
Aria’s smile vanished immediately and she glared at him. Snorting lightly, she turned away from him, amusing Noah all the more. "See you later."
Aria just flicked her hand at him as if she was shooing him away and Noah let out a chortle as he walked out.
"Is she here?" Noah’s demeanor changed the moment he stepped out of his office.
"Yes, Boss."
"Mia Stevenson..." Noah’s eyes narrowed and his expression turned dark. "Let us see what you have got to say."
