Chapter 801: Anger management - Part 1
In no time, the four people reached the hospital, the same hospital where Ivy had been operated on. Their plan to trap Jared and capture him had been a success, and it was all Aria’s brilliantly crafted ploy, making it seem to the entire world that Ivy had been moved to Noah’s mansion when in fact, Ivy hadn’t entered Noah’s mansion at all.
"Dad," Aria entered the ICU while the men remained outside. They allowed the sisters to have their time as they engaged in conversation of their own.
"Aria, you’re here." Oliver had no idea what happened and how her valiant daughter had fought Jared all on her own. If he did, Aria would be in one hell of a hearing.
"Yes, Dad. What’s wrong?" She noticed the uneasiness on her father’s face and approached him hurriedly.
"It’s nothing, dear. I’ve been sitting here for a long time. My body’s gone stiff."
Aria felt bad for him. To execute their plan successfully, everyone had gone to Noah’s mansion, leaving only her father with Ivy. Although Kaito did protect him secretly, the man couldn’t take his place in the ICU and watch over Ivy. Only her father could do it.
"Dad, you should go and rest. We’re here. We’ll take care of Ivy now."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, Dad."
Nodding lightly, he exited from the ICU.
"Dad," Noah greeted him the moment he saw him.
"What’s happening, Noah?" Oliver questioned him right away, rendering him speechless.
"What’s happening, Dad?" Noah questioned him back as he maintained a poker face.
"You tell me, and don’t you dare lie to me. I know something big happened today. Otherwise, all of you wouldn’t have vanished at the same time."
Oliver had sensed the tension in the air when they had been moving Ivy out of the hospital. Something was up, and it became apparent when the ambulance drove for a while and returned to the same hospital they had been at. But this time, they had to move Ivy discreetly, keeping her away from everyone’s eyes.
Oliver had no idea that they had used this method to trick Jared’s men and on the way, another ambulance with the same license plate had been used as a smoke bomb to do the same.
Oliver hadn’t said a word or asked anyone anything at that time. But that didn’t mean he wasn’t curious. He was just waiting for the right time. While he couldn’t bring himself to ask Aria, he could only seek the men for answers.
"Dad," Noah sighed when he realized that the truth couldn’t be kept a secret any longer. Moreover, the man had the right to know it.
"We caught Jared."
Oliver’s expression morphed into that of terror before being replaced by hatred.
"Is he dead yet?"
"No, Dad. Ivy will kill him. We have kept him captive for now."
Oliver nodded, not knowing what else to say. His emotions were haywire, and he needed some time alone. So, without another word, he walked away from them.
"Should we go after him?" Joshua was worried for him, and he took a step forward to follow him when Ian stopped him.
"Don’t. Give him some space."
While at least Aria got an opportunity to vent her anger on Jared, the poor man had no choice but to suppress it, and Ian more or less understood what was going through his mind. He needed time to calm himself down, and if they were to follow him at such a critical moment, it’d only make things awkward and complex.
Having no idea what was happening outside the ICU, Aria took the chair which was previously occupied by her father, and stared at her sister who was deep asleep.
"Ivy, I have some news for you." She started as she caressed her sister’s palm gently.
"We caught the man who put you in this state, Ivy." Even though it was a matter of celebrating, Aria’s voice held no joy. Until Ivy recovered completely and Jared was sent to hell, there was no way she’d celebrate her achievements.
"And I rendered him incapable. He isn’t a man anymore." Aria stated as if she was speaking about something insignificant.
"He’s now being kept captive in Noah’s base. Now, all that remains is for you to recover quickly and deal with him yourself."
Aria continued to vent her emotions to her unconscious sister, and it was only when she felt better that she stopped.
"You must be tired of listening to me rant. I’ll stop now." Aria finally smiled and sighed deeply before a yawn escaped her lips.
"Good night, Ivy. I’ll see you tomorrow."
Aria left the ICU as well, and a frown marred her face when she noticed her father absent. As if knowing what was running in her mind, Noah replied to her the next instant.
"Dad’s gone to take a breather. He’ll be back soon."
"Oh.."
"I’m going to leave now. I have some work to attend to." Noah glanced at the two men before giving Aria a cryptic gaze. Since Ian and Joshua had decided to watch over Ivy, there was no need for him to stay over. He might as well get some work done and return in the morning.
"Sure. See you in the morning." Ian noticed the tension between the couple, and he shook his head discreetly.
Without waiting another moment, Noah walked away from them, rendering Aria flustered. His stance told her clearly that he was still infuriated with her, and if she didn’t follow him now, she’d be in big trouble later.
"I’m going to leave as well. Ian, take care of Ivy and Dad." With that, Aria ran behind Noah, who didn’t slow down even for a moment.
"Noah, wait for me," Aria shouted, but the man gave her a deaf ear and continued walking. He didn’t stop until he reached the parking lot, and Aria had to make a beeline for it to make it before the doors closed.
"Noah, please. I’m sorry." Aria tried. But the man didn’t even look at her, making her all the more worried.
"Please talk to me. I’m really sorry."
The elevator doors separated, and Noah glanced at her before he walked out. For the first time since she started working at the hospital, Aria cursed the elevator for being fast.
Once again, Aria had to run to keep up with the long-legged man, and they didn’t stop until they reached the parking lot. While Noah took the seat behind the wheel, Aria was quick to take the shotgun. She was worried that he’d leave her behind if she was not swift enough.
"Noah, please talk to me," Aria begged, her face filled with sorrow, and finally the man relented when he couldn’t see her aggrieved face anymore.
"What do you want to talk about, Aria?" He sighed as he started the car.
"Please, forgive me. I just..."
"Fine. I forgive you."
Noah’s words shocked Aria for a moment, and she wondered if it was all a dream. But the next instant, she couldn’t stop beaming, and she leaned forward to kiss his cheek.
"Thank you, Noah. Thank you so much. You have no idea how worried I was.
I’m so sorry for not informing you of my plan." Aria continued to rant while Noah didn’t speak a word.
It was only when they had almost reached their house that Aria realized that the man hadn’t spoken a word to her, and her stomach dropped instantly. There was something wrong with him. She sensed it, she felt it. Noah had never been this distant, and it didn’t have to take her a minute more to realize that he was still annoyed with her.
"Noah, are you still furious with me?" Aria started as Noah drove inside their mansion.
"No, Aria. I’m not."
Aria bit her lip and stared at him as he pulled over right in front of the doors. He didn’t speak a word more as he got out, and Aria had no choice but to follow him.
"Noah..."
"Aria, I have some work to handle. You go ahead and get some rest."
"But..."
Noah didn’t wait for Aria to speak at all before he entered the mansion and directly walked towards the study, leaving her all alone outside.
Aria felt tears sting her eyes. It was only then did she realize what a mess she had created. She had messed up big time, and she had no idea how to deal with it.
Dragging her body inside the mansion, she noticed him enter his study before the door closed. Aria felt miserable, and she entered their room slowly. Even though she was hurt by his cold actions, she knew she had hurt him more by not being truthful with him.
"I’m so sorry, Noah," Aria mumbled as she thought of ways to pacify him.
"Think, Aria, think. There has to be some way to appease him." She started pacing back and forth as she thought of ways to reduce his anger. But she came short. She couldn’t think of anything at that moment. Her mind was completely blank.
Eventually, she came up with only one thing, and that was to kneel before him and beg for forgiveness. Deciding to go ahead with this plan, Aria stood outside the study and hesitated for a moment before she finally knocked on the door.
At first, there was no sound. But when she knocked on the door again, she heard Noah’s voice, and she entered the study.
"What is it, Aria?" Noah sighed as he gave her a tired look.
"I am really sorry, Noah. Please forgive me." Aria kneeled right before him, surprising the man with her actions.
"Please."
Noah jumped to his feet immediately and stopped her from kneeling. "What are you doing, Aria?"
"Please don’t be angry with me anymore. I’m willing to do anything. Please."
Noah went silent at her words and gave her a look that she couldn’t decipher.
"Anything?"
"Anything."
"Think about it," Noah warned her. "I’ll not be lenient."
"It doesn’t matter. I’ll do anything if that curbs your anger." Aria stated with resolve, not knowing the danger she was inviting upon herself.
"Fine. You said it yourself. Don’t blame me later on."
