Chapter 776: Critical - Part 2
"No, no, no, no." Joshua became hysterical at once and shook his head fervently. "You cannot leave me, Ivy. You can’t. I’m yet to beg for forgiveness from you. You are yet to punish me for what I did. How can you leave before that?" He kept mumbling in his disarrayed state as he stared blankly at the OT.
"You’ll have to fight. Please, don’t leave us. Please." Joshua begged as his tears rolled down.
Ian saw his state and shook his head. What was the use of lamenting now after the damage had been done? If he truly loved her, he wouldn’t have hurt her. Although Joshua was not responsible for Ivy’s condition, his actions had indeed put her in the arms of danger. The lady was not just hurt physically, she had been damaged emotionally as well.
Ian wanted to punch Joshua for what he did to Ivy and Noah’s feelings were no less different. For the first time in his life, he regretted, regretted not stopping Joshua from dating Ivy.
Suppressing his anger, he looked at Aria and pulled her towards him. "Aria, please calm down. Please. Ivy is still with us. She is here." He tried. But Aria continued to cry and with every drop of tear that left her eyes, his heart twisted in pain all the more.
"Ivy cannot leave me. No, no, no. How can she leave me? We are yet to explore the world. We are yet to attend each other’s weddings. We are yet to pamper each other’s children. We are yet to grow old and be the super cool grandmas we always wanted to be. How can she leave before accomplishing all of these?" Aria mumbled as she kept shaking her head.
If it was any other time, Noah would have burst out laughing at her words. But not right now. He just prayed for Ivy to fight the battle and return to them. He wanted Aria and Ivy to fulfill all that Aria had just said.
With great difficulty, he helped Aria to the nearest chairs and held her as they waited for the doctor.
Nobody knew how much time had passed. It was as if they had been waiting outside the OT for years when they heard rushed footsteps.
Ian was the first to notice Oliver and froze immediately. The man had arrived quicker than he had thought. He didn’t even have the time to sort his emotions and muster the courage to face him.
"Ian," Oliver ran towards Ian, not noticing Aria who was leaning against Noah. "Where are Ivy and Aria? What happened to them?" He panted as he darted his gaze around before he saw Aria and his eyes rounded in shock.
"Aria!" He almost yelled on seeing her state. Her face was swollen, her arms were covered in gauze and with her unkept hair, she looked appalling.
Hearing the familiar voice, Aria raised her head and her lips quivered. The sobs she had been holding back spilled out of her lips and she ran to him immediately.
"Dad." She cried as she plunged into his embrace.
"Aria, how did you get injured? What happened?" Oliver was mortified to see Aria injured. He had never imagined that he’d see his daughter in such a condition, ever.
"Dad, Ivy...she..." Aria sobbed, ignoring her pains and wounds. They didn’t matter to her at all. She just wanted her sister back.
"What happened to Ivy? Where is she?" Oliver pulled back when he sensed the fear and sorrow from her and his heart dropped when he saw her glancing at the OT. If Ivy was in the OT, it only meant her condition was critical.
"Aria, what happened?" Oliver steeled his heart and looked at his daughter whose eyes were red and swollen. But all he got in response was her sobs. Helpless, he glanced at Ian while Noah held Aria’s shoulders.
"Mr. West, Ivy....she...." Ian hesitated and glanced at Noah who nodded at him in return.
For the next few minutes, Ian filled in Oliver with all that had happened and all that he knew.
"Mr. West?" He saw Oliver go into shock while his face lost all its color. "Mr. West?"
Again, there was no response.
"Oliver?"
Oliver lost all the strength in his legs and was about to collapse when Ian held him. The man did not speak a word as he stared absent-mindedly. Ian helped him toward the chair and sat beside him.
Nobody spoke for a long time and hours passed while they continued waiting. It was the longest wait of their lives as they prayed for Ivy to fight it out and escape from danger.
Right at that moment, Noah’s phone rang and when he saw the unfamiliar number, he ended the call immediately. But his phone rang again and with his brows furrowed he glanced at Ian who nodded at him in return.
Holding Oliver on one side and supporting Aria on the other, Ian glanced at Noah who had stepped aside to receive the call.
"Hello, Noah Carter. How was my surprise?" Jared chimed and Noah clenched his fists in fury when he realized who it was.
"Did you like it? I’m sure you did. After all, I had planned a lot for it." Jared continued, his voice filled with ecstasy and triumph. "How does it feel to be a loser, Noah? Are you hurting? Are you sad? Are you in pain?"
Noah had never despised anyone as much as he despised Jared. The man was vile and a monster and had single-handedly pushed all of them into misery.
"Is Ivy still alive?" Jared queried, his tone changing all of a sudden. It was as if he was concerned about her well-being. "If she is, I’m sure she’ll be dead soon. Too bad, I couldn’t taste her. You guys arrived faster than I thought."
Jared clicked his tongue in regret and Noah was filled with such killing intent at that moment that the veins on his arms popped out.
"Anyway, I hope you liked the present I gave you. I’ll send you the video for you to enjoy it. This is just the beginning, Noah. I’m yet to give you a lot of presents and next time, I’ll make sure you guys will arrive a little late." Jared promised.
"One down, four more to go. Goodbye, Noah. Miss me until the next time."
