Chapter 768: Crisis - Part 1
Aria was having a hard time driving the car. Her heart was thumping louder than ever and her hands trembled when she thought about her sister.
"Please be safe, Ivy. Please be safe." She begged. Her hand had turned clammy in fear and she didn’t know how long she could go before she lost it completely While she drove like a maniac on the road, she sent a voice message to the group chat consisting of Noah, Joshua, Ian, Ivy and her, informing the men about of the situation. She didn’t dare slow down and her swift driving made it difficult for the guards behind her to follow.
Meanwhile, Joshua, who had been waiting for Aria at home was trying to track Ivy in his own way. He tried to find her using the surveillance cameras on the roads when he received Aria’s voice message.
Although her words were incoherent, he could still make out what she was saying and his body turned cold immediately. He stood up in shock, the sudden impact sending the chair swiveling across the room.
’Kidnap? Ivy kidnapped?’ Joshua broke out into a cold sweat and he immediately grabbed his keys and gun before running out of the mansion.
Aria had also sent him a live location as well as asked him to bring more people. So, before getting inside the car, he sent orders to the guards in his mansion as well as the people from the Underworld.
Joshua was shit scared and he couldn’t stop imagining the worst. If only he had...If only he had stopped Ivy from leaving, she would’ve missed the calamity. There was no room for regrets now. She was already on the front line of danger and it was all his fault.
Joshua tried to call Aria on his way. But the lady was too busy driving to answer his call. She had to catch up with Stuart and save Ivy first.
The guards behind her had no idea what had happened. It was only when they received a high alert message from the Underworld that they understood the severity of the situation and the guard who was behind the steering wheel pressed hard on the gas pedal while he tried to catch up with Aria.
However, at an intersection, three cars slammed right into them. The impact of the crash was so strong that their car was overturned completely. With broken windows and dents at various places, it was impossible for them to continue driving. Moreover, two of the guards were even injured severely, one among them with broken ribs.
Even though they were injured, they were still worried and they tried to leave the car and think of ways to help their Madam and her sister. However, they had difficulty even getting out of the car let alone help others in the situation they were in.
Aria was completely oblivious to all that was happening behind her. She followed the live location and her eyes widened in horror when she saw Ivy’s motorbike abandoned by the roadside. Her heart skipped a beat while a chill ran down her spine.
"Ivy," She breathed, utterly terrified to even think about what she had experienced and the torment she was going through currently.
Gritting her teeth, Aria increased the speed of her car. Never had she driven at such a speed before. Even though she was frightened, she had to do it for her sister. Many times, she had even narrowly missed crashing against other cars.
Apologizing many times for her reckless driving, she ignored their curses and in no time, she saw Stuart’s car. Despite having a non-flashy car, his number plate was quite fancy and Aria recognized it right away. They were on the outskirts of the city and Aria frowned, not recognizing the place she was in.
Ignoring all the missed calls on her phone, Aria called Stuart while she maintained a steady pace behind him.
"Hello, Aria." His voice was equally worried as hers, maybe even more and Aria felt utterly bad for him. She more or less had an inkling as to who was behind Ivy’s kidnapping and she didn’t intend to put the man in more trouble. The situation was dangerous and he might even lose his life if he didn’t leave now.
"I see your car, Stuart. Is Ivy in the car ahead of you?" Aria’s gaze didn’t waver from Stuart’s car and she looked at the other vehicles ahead of him.
"No, Aria. She’s three cars ahead." He couldn’t hide his shaky voice and Aria pursed her lips before she made her decision.
"Stuart, the situation is utterly dangerous. I’m here now. You may leave if you want." Even though she had given him the choice, she still hoped for him to be with her. She was utterly scared and she didn’t think she could handle the situation on her own.
"Are you kidding me, Aria? Do you think I’ll leave you alone in this situation?" Stuart almost yelled in dismay.
"But..."
"Aria, you are my friend and I consider Ivy a friend too although I haven’t spoken to her much. There’s no way in hell I’ll leave you two alone in this predicament. Moreover, even if your lovers were here, I wouldn’t have left. Get that thought in your mind." Stuart stated with utter conviction and Aria was touched by his sincerity towards them. He was completely unlike the fake friends who didn’t even think about them when they were in trouble let alone help them.
Aria’s courage raised with his presence and she sighed in relief. "Stuart, you’ve been following for quite some time. Do you think they’d have noticed your presence?"
"No, Aria. This is the national highway and there are quite a few cars if you haven’t noticed. So, they have yet to notice me following me. I have memorized their car numbers as well in case we have trouble finding them if we lose them."
"Stuart, what would I do without you?" Aria felt tears slipping out of her eyes. "Please stay on the call. I need someone to keep me going. I’m utterly scared."
"Me too, Aria. Please stay with me."
Aria and Stuart continued to follow the cars ahead of them. Given the number of people they were, they couldn’t face the kidnappers head-on. Not only would Ivy be in danger, but they would put themselves at vulnerability too and that would be highly detrimental.
Aria only hoped for Joshua and the others to have seen her message and they were somewhere on the way.
"Stuart, where do you think they are going? Have you been to this place before?"
"I have no idea, Aria. I have yet to explore a lot of places after I returned to the country and this area is new to me. I’m sorry." Stuart was helpless and he sighed softly. "Aria, they are taking a left turn. You might miss it if you are not observant. It is hidden and difficult to see in the dark."
"Ohh, I’m right behind you, Stuart. I noticed them taking the left."
Stuart glanced at the rearview mirror and noticed Aria’s car behind him and he sighed in relief. If not for them being on the highway and they couldn’t stop the car recklessly, he’d have abandoned his car and driven with Aria instead.
"Aria, should we follow them from here? What if we are the only ones here on this road?"
Aria too thought about it and she looked ahead. They were now close to the turning and they had to make a decision.
Stuart, switch off your car’s headlights and follow them. If you find a chance, stop your car at the side, I’ll park my car here and we can follow them together."
Stuart did as he was told and the moment he turned left, he found a spot and stopped his car. Aria found a secluded spot and parked her car before she dashed towards him and got inside the car.
"Aria, thank god you are here. I don’t think I’d have done this alone." Stuart almost cried as he pressed the gas pedal once Aria had fastened her seat belt.
"Me too, Stuart. Me too."
Just then, Aria’s phone rang and she felt like crying when she saw Noah’s name. Without wasting a moment, she answered the call and put it on speaker.
"Aria, what the hell is happening? Where are you?" Noah’s tone couldn’t hide his panic and he shouted on the phone.
"Noah!" Aria cried and Stuart felt bad for the lady beside him. "Ivy is kidnapped. I’m following her with Stuart. Please come fast."
"I’m on my way, Aria. Joshua has already explained the situation to me. Stay..."
The call ended abruptly and Aria’s eyes widened in horror. She checked her phone. She still had some battery left, but the signal connection was utterly disrupted.
"Stuart, I think, there is no signal here."
"Check my phone, Aria."
Aria did not hesitate and checked his phone and just as she had expected, there was no signal in the place they were in.
