Chapter 62: Not

"What the—? Aiden Hawk! Why are you standing here, naked on my doorstep?" Serena blurted, her eyes widening as she stared at him.

Aiden raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "I am not naked. If you can bear to tear your gaze away from my chest, you’ll notice I’m wearing trousers."

Serena blinked, forcing her eyes downward to confirm. Yep, the lower half was definitely covered. Too bad. But that wasn’t the point. The point was why he was at her door shirtless.

"Fine, fine! Why are you at my door without a shirt on?"

"Do you have an issue with me being at your door, or is the shirtlessness the problem?" Aiden shot back, leaning casually against the doorframe, while crossing his arms in front of her as if it was the most normal thing in the world.

Serena paused, narrowing her eyes. He was doing this on purpose—she could tell from the mischievous glint in his eye. Juvenile fellow! Was he in middle school or something? Being dense on purpose!

"Aiden Hawk, why are you here? Enlighten me, please," she demanded, folding her arms in front of her and accepting defeat, refusing to play along with his little game any longer. She did not have the time for this!

Aiden smiled, clearly enjoying himself, and finally answered, "Alright, fine. I need to know what you’re wearing for the party tonight."

Serena grinned, satisfied by his shift in tone. "I’m wearing a dress," she said sweetly, knowing full well that the ball was not in her court.

Aiden grimaced. He knew it! When he teased, she was all impatient wtih him. But of course, she’d never miss a chance to needle him, would she? "I meant, what color dress are you wearing?" he clarified slowly.

"Why?" she asked, arching an eyebrow.

"Because," he sighed, "I need to match my clothes to it."

"You want to wear a matching dress?" she teased, pushing his buttons further.

Aiden rolled his eyes, already regretting this whole conversation. "No, Serena. I need to match my shirt to the color of your dress. Grandma’s orders."

Serena grinned, "Good, good. Grandma wants us to match" she purred. "Wow! I can almost imagine you in that pretty colour...For your information, the color of my dress is a lovely shade of neon pink."

Aiden’s expression froze. "Neon pink?" he repeated, as though the words themselves might offend his sense of decency. His face twisted into a mask of horror, and she bit her lip to keep from laughing out loud. He looked positively horrified, like she’d just announced she was attending the party dressed as a clown.

"Yep," she confirmed, her grin widened as she began to slowly close the door, savoring his look. "Good luck matching that!"

Before the door could click shut, Aiden’s hand shot out, stopping it in place. In a quick, smooth movement, he slipped inside, his body brushing lightly against hers as he moved past the threshold.

She stopped him,"Hey! What are you doing?"

Her words caught in her throat when he suddenly pushed her against the door. As she blinked, her hands on his shoulders, to push him away, stop him or bring him close, she didn’t know.

"Neon pink, huh? Let me see if I have the exact neon pink shirt to match that...Or maybe I would prefer blush pink...like your face now..."

"You’d really wear neon pink?"

Aiden’s lips curved into a lazy smile. "For you? Absolutely."

Serena scoffed. "You’d look ridiculous."

"And you’d love every second of it," Aiden replied smoothly, as he sidestepped her and moved into the room. "But let’s be honest... there’s no way you’re wearing neon pink tonight. You just wanted to see me sweat."

With that, Aiden went to sit on her bed, and leaned back, as if a lord awaiting service.

The sheer nerve of the man!

"You want to see the dress? Fine, go into the dressing room and see for yourself," she said, pointing to the door on the far side of the room.

Aiden raised an eyebrow, not budging. "No, thanks. I’m comfortable right here. You bring it out."

Serena huffed. "I’m not your maid, Aiden. If you want to see it, move your lazy ass and get it."

"Nah! I dare not touch. If something were to happen to it, I won’t be able to handle the blame. Go go. Don’t waste my time. Bring it here fast.

"You’re impossible! I wish I would have chosen Neon pink just to look at your horrified face!"

Aiden gave her a smug smile, his gaze following her as she stomped into the dressing room, muttering under her breath. The second she was out of sight, however, his entire demeanor shifted.

He quickly sat up, reaching for her phone on the nightstand. With nimble fingers, he popped out the SIM card and slid it into his pocket. Then, from his own pocket, he retrieved a small replacement card and slid it into her phone. His hands worked quickly and efficiently, making sure everything looked untouched. Just as he finished the job and placed the phone back, he heard the sound of something being dragged.

Shoving the original SIM card deep into his pocket, Aiden threw himself back on the bed as Serena appeared.

"Seriously? Red? You chose Vampire red?"

Serena grinned. She’d like to see him try and match thisto his shirt. Unexpectedly, the gown that she’d chosen to wear tonight was actually Grandma’s choice who believed it to be an auspicious colour for married life.

As far as she knew, Aiden Hawk only wore, black, white and blue shirts... This was going to be good..." Do you even have a red shirt?"

Aiden stood up and walked towards the door, shrugging his shoulders," I don’t. But what I do have is an assistant whose job is to take care of my needs. So, An will be finding a shirt for me before the party.See you later, byee."

Serena stood there shocked as she found Aiden leave and sighed. What was up with him?
