Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband -
Chapter 61: Danger
Chapter 61: Danger
Aiden narrowed his eyes as he watched Serena go into the coffee shop to meet the man. So she really did come. And quite on time. His grip on the phone tightened then as he watched the man hug her and he swore. Who did this man think he was? Thankfully, she blocked the man before he could kiss her or Aiden would have abandoned his plan to wait outside and charged inside, to hell with getting any information about this man.
"Sir, should we go in now?"
Aiden looked up at his assistant who was sitting in the driver’s seat ahead and slowly shook his head, "Why is there no audio?"
Ann grimaced as he checked his own phone for the update. "It seems there is a technical glitch in the spyware, sir. It will be reconnected in a minute..."
Just then, the audio kicked in and Serena’s voice filtered through the phone’s speaker," Did I ever tell you about my family?"
Both Ann and Aiden heard the entire conversation and could not help but frown. Nothing. Despite the questioning, both obviously could make out the man’s lack of information. Just how did Serena end up with him and why was she questioning him about her past.
"Sir, this man does not seem to know much. Do you think that we should intervene?"
Aiden shook his head. "No. For now, have someone follow him and keep an eye on who he meets. Check if the person asking for money is him or anyone else. And see that he does not contact any media houses for his benefit. Tomorrow, Serena is going to be introduced as the Hawk’s daughter in law. I do not want any nasty surprises. Understand? And if he tries something... you know what to do."
Aiden leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes as he threw the phone aside, the cold light hidden by his lashes.

Serena nodded, even as she moved to cover her disappointment. Just how much of a problem did she have with her family that she had chosen not to even talk about her family? From what she understood though, it seemed her family was a bunch of tyrants. How else could she explain them sending goons after them to stop their marriage. Or her unwillingness to introduce her lover to them and not mention them in front of the man she loved.
And then she remembered something," Owen, what about your mother. She wasn’t happy with our decision to marry quietly, was she?"
Owen looked at her in surprise. Did she have her memory back? "How do you?"
"I had a vision. I... didn’t see ;you’, but you were arguing with your mother about standing by my side and having a simple wedding."
A flicker of panic came over him then and he struggled to answer. Did she recognise his mother as the one....
But then he stilled. No. She said something about a vision. It was indeed a memory that had resurfaced which meant that things might get more complicated. Until now, he’d thought that he was safe for now, with her memories hazy, but if she recovered all her memories then... things might get complicated.
He held her hand and gave her a smile," You do remember. But Serena I hope that you won’t hold it against my mother. She is a bit old fashioned and...she was excited about her marriage."
"Where are your parents now?" Serena asked slowly. She didn’t know why but she was sure there was something that she was missing in what he was telling her.
"They are in hiding... I haven’t met them for a while?"
"Hiding?"
"Yes. Serena, your family was dangerous. When they sent the goond after us, my father got hurt so we escaped from there and sent them away while we came to our new house. In fact, when you were in the hospital, the second biggest reason I had to leave you there was because I was worried that they would find out about you and take you away. So I left you in their care...Also, I am still being chased by them, so I don’t know how long I will be able to continue seeing you..."
He hesitated and then continued," I need to tell you something. Tomorrow... I’ll have to leave for a few days. Things are getting complicated, and I think I am being followed now. My life might be in danger and I need to lie low for a while. That’s why I came to see you today, before I go."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small piece of paper, gently pressing it into her hand. His fingers lingered on hers for a moment, as if he was afraid to let go. "Here, this is my number. If you need anything—anything at all—or if you remember more, call me. I’ll be there. I’ll come back when it’s safe, but... I don’t want you to feel like you have to wait for me."
Owen stood up then. His mission was almost successful. He could see the worry in her eyes for him. Perfect. Even though she had changed so much, she was still gullible due to her kindness. Tomorrow, he would use this and take her away from here. And then, both Aiden and Sidney would pay a pretty penny for her.
And then, he will have his time with her so that she never remembers anything of the past and would only ever be with him. Time for the final dialogue- "I’ll wait for you to remember, Serena. I know it’s in there somewhere—our love, the life we had planned together. But if it doesn’t come back... if you never remember... I hope you’ll find happiness. Even if it’s not with me. Though, I’ll always regret not being the one to make you happy, but if someone else does... I’ll try to be okay with that. Because all I’ve ever wanted was for you to be happy. Goodbye."
He walked out then, before she could call him and say something, with a smirk on his face...
