Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband -
Chapter 128: Nope
Chapter 128: Nope
"You were my fiancée, Serena! The girl I planned to marry! We were supposed to be together forever! But now I don’t even have the right to question you? What happened to you, Serena?" Sidney’s voice cracked with frustration as he slammed his palm against the table, his gaze burning with intensity.
Serena tilted her head slightly, her eyes calm and unyielding as she leaned back in her chair. "I was your fiancée? And I didn’t even know it? That’s... interesting." Her voice was quiet, controlled, each word measured. "Just because you planned to marry me doesn’t mean I had similar plans, Mr. Price. And as for what happened to me?" She paused, glancing down at her clasped hands before returning her gaze to him, unflinching. "A lot of things happened, so I’m not sure which particular incident you’re referring to."
The coolness in her response was like a slap to Sidney’s face. His jaw clenched, and without warning, he pushed his chair back, the legs scraping harshly against the floor. He stormed around the table, his movements sharp, his frustration palpable as he closed the distance between them. Leaning down, he braced his arms on either side of her, caging her in between the chair and the table.
Serena stiffened but didn’t flinch. Her breath caught for a brief moment as she turned her head, her eyes meeting his, but there was no fear, only defiance. She clenched her hands tightly in her lap, the only sign of tension.
"Are you saying you didn’t plan to marry me?" he demanded, his voice low, almost a growl. "We were each other’s first kiss, Rena. We talked about our future, our life together. Even before I left for business training, we were already making plans. And every time I returned..." His voice faltered as she stared into her eyes, hoping for something of the girl who would laugh with him. The one whose eyes were always twinkling when she looked at him.
But that girl was nowhere to be found. "I thought you wanted to take me to meet the attorneys. If you want to reminsce about the past, you can do it by yourself..."
Her words stung like ice, a cold, calculated dismissal of the emotions that had once connected them. Sidney’s breath hitched as he studied her face, desperately searching for any hint of the girl he had once known, the girl who had meant everything to him. But the Serena in front of him now felt like a stranger." Rena...Let’s go."
Without another word, Serena stood up and followed Sidney out of the hotel, her hands clenched. Her heart still beat fast at his closeness. And even now, seeing the pain in his eyes made her want to console him and make him smile.
She thought back to the first time they had thought to confess their feeling to each other...

Even now, she remembered the scent of the fried rice and sweet-and-sour chicken that they had been eating in his car. "Why are you all worried?Even if this Mrs Hawk is strict and we won’t be able to meet much, she has taken you in, right? That means that she considers you to be worthy. This is a good opportunity for you. I almost wish I had a dad who could arrange a mentor for me..." Serena said, even though her eyes were fixed on the rice in front of her.
"Well, what if we drift apart when I am gone? Hmm? I will lose a best friend."
Serena rolled her eyes," We will always be best friends, silly. Even if we don’t get to talk much."
Sidney’s expression darkened at her words. "I don’t want to just be your best friend, Rena," he replied, his voice firm but gentle.
She turned to him, surprise flickering in her eyes, followed by a hint of offense. "What do you mean by that?" she asked, crossing her arms defensively."Is that what this is about? You are giving me all these explanations about being super busy in the future so that you can not be me friend anymore?
He shook his head vehemently an explained," No Silly. I want to be more than your best friend!"
"What does that even mean?" Serena asked with confusion.Sidney shifted in his seat, as he tried to find the right words. "It means that I don’t just want to be the guy you talk to about everything, or the one you share food with in the car," he began, his voice low and careful.
Serena frowned, still not quite understanding. "Well, what else is there? I thought you liked being that guy. Also, I share food with you everywhere..."
"I do like it, okay," Sidney said quickly. "But... I want more. I don’t just want to sit by your side as your best friend, watching you live your life while I’m off somewhere else. I want to be the one who’s there with you, through everything."
"So, you want us to keep hanging out? You know we can do that, Sid. We’re not going to stop being friends just because you’re training under some strict mentor. I’ll still be here. You can just call me whenever you’re free! I promise I will make time."
Sidney groaned softly, leaning his head forward against the steering wheel in frustration. "No, Rena. That’s not what I mean." He turned to face her, his voice dropping into a more serious tone. "I don’t just want to be your friend. I want to be your... everything."
Serena’s frown deepened, her confusion only growing. "My everything? Sidney, you’re not making sense. We already spend all our time together. What else could you—"
Before she could finish, Sidney reached over, took the takeout container from her hands and set it aside on the dashboard. The motion caught her off guard, and she looked at him, her eyes widening slightly as he leaned in close to her again, and brushed his lips against hers as he murmured, "Rena...I want to be more than your best friend. I want to be your forever."
