FALLEN ANGEL: MARRIED TO THE DEMON KING
Chapter 89: THE ATTACK (2)

Chapter 89: THE ATTACK (2)

Velmoria staggered back, gasping heavily.

Sweat trickled down her forehead, as she struggled to maintain consciousness. What had hit her? She had not seen it coming. What were the words that floated in the air, and why was she suddenly able to answer them? What did HP mean? What did status effect mean?

Her vision swam in front of her, as the words flickered into and out of each other, glowing with a golden radiance that reminded her of the halo their queen and her brother had. The sensation of whatever had hit her was still painfully nauseating, painfully wrong.

She grit her teeth, tightening the grip on her whip, ready to throw out another attack, when a wave of heat spread of the point of impact of her chest.

It hurt, it hurt painfully.

The pain was not like a normal burn. It ate at her, feeling like living fire that sunk into her body. The pain was so much that she lost feeling in her legs and fell to her knees.

She clutched at her chest with her free hand, feeling the pain eating her from the inside out. She could see a blur of movement to her left, and in a moment, Young Lady Darvia was at her side, moving with an inhuman speed, intercepting one of the attackers before she could be struck once more.

The young noble spun with fluid grace, her dagger a streak of black and pink as she drove it deep into the side of one of the swordsmen who was clad in mismatched armor. The warrior grunted, but rather than bleed, his body flickered for a split second, before it was whole once more.

The glowing letters that Velmoria had suddenly managed to read appeared before his head,

-150HP--Critical hit.

Velmoria’s breath hitched as the words melted into each other, and more words appeared.

Heal activated.

Darvia stood in front of the kneeling Velmoria, holding onto her daggers tightly, protecting her. "What in the realms is that?" She shouted as the attacker drove for her again.

It was as if she had not just critically wounded him. He barely reacted to his wound, and instead of staggering or collapsing, more glowing words that Velmoria could read appeared over his head.

Defensive Buff Activated.

A golden glow wrapped around his body for a brief second before fading, and his attacks grew heavier, as if nothing had happened from the attack.

"They are healing from the attacks," Velmoria clenched her fists as she pushed her heavy body up. The burn from whatever they had attacked her with persisted, and above her, she could see the words;

1000 HP

920 HP

The numbers continued to lower until they stagnated at seven hundred, and the air rushed back into Velmoria’s lungs.

At this point, Castiel slammed his staff against the ground, releasing a burst of holy energy so beautifully blue and gold. The wave of light forced several of the invaders to step back, but did not do much damage as it should have done from an angel so high in rank as him.

"No." He rushed over to where Velmoria and Young Lady Darvia stood, "They are not healing, it is something different. I cannot tell if they are truly injured or not." He waved a hand and a translucent golden shield rose around them.

Velmoria grunted as she pushed herself up to a standing position. Castiel held her elbow, helping her up. Electricity rose from the point of contact, and Velmoria’s teeth begun to itch once more. "Breath Velmoria, breathe." Castiel whispered as he touched the tip of her staff to Velmoria’s head. She realized that she had stopped breathing, and forced the air into her lungs.

Holy power poured into her from the point of contact with the tip of Castiel’s staff, healing her from the inside out.

Her tail swished behind her, obviously happy at the point of contact between her and him. She tightened the grip on her whip to stop herself from throwing herself on him.

Young Lady Darvia worked on ensuring none of the attackers got through the shield, though Velmoria could see the the young demon throwing her anxious looks every few seconds. The very obvious care that the demon had for her brought a smile to Velmoria’s lips.

She sucked in a deep breath, allowing the odd holy energy to seep into her being from Castiel’s staff, knitting together what had gotten hurt, healing the damage that had been inflicted on her. The golden glow from his staff was warm and soothing-- although somewhere in the back of her mind her demonic instincts recoiled. Holy power and demonic essence were not meant to mix, in normal situations.

However, this was not a normal situation. The angel in front of her, healing her with such a concentrated look on her face, was her mate. One of two who was supposed to protect her for the rest of her miserable life. Unlike how holy power was supposed to burn her, it steadied her, grounded her.

Her tail flicked behind her involuntarily, betraying the part of her that craved whatever warmth he was providing her. She looked up at him, painfully aware that the thread that pulled them together was getting stronger with every second that they spent together.

A succubus and an angel.

How pathetic.

"You will have to pardon me for this, Lord Castiel," Velmoria muttered in a low voice.

He looked at her, confusion etched onto his features. "For what?" He asked, distracted with healing whatever part of her was hurt.

Velmoria pushed away the tip of his staff with the end of her tail, and raised her body up with the help of her wings, pressing his lips onto his. The angel visibly stiffened, his entire body locking up as Velmoria’s lips met his own.

For a split second, there was only stillness-- the battlefield, the glowing golden text, the chaos of the fight, all faded into the background. The taste of his holy energy clashed against her demonic energy, yet instead of rejection, the two energies melded into each other. She raised her hands to cup the back of his neck.

It was intoxicating.

His breath caught, and she could feel his pulse race beneath her fingers where she gripped the back of his neck.

She had expected resistance. She had expected him to push her away. After all, the only one who seemed truly excited for their bond was Young Lady Darvia. He had been quiet, brooding for half of the time she had been together. She expected him to recoil in righteous fury, to demand an explanation of why she had stolen a kiss from him in the middle of a fight.

However, he did none of those things.

Instead, he shuddered, and a soft nearly inaudible gasp escaped his lips before he melted into the kiss, just for a second. It was hesitant, but rough in how he gripped her waist tightly with his free hand.

Velmoria felt her reserves quickly filling up, as if she had just feasted on the most decadent source of energy she had ever tasted. It wasn’t just power—it was _pure_, untainted divinity, slipping through her veins like liquid gold, warming her from the inside out.

She had kissed before. She had _fed_ before. But never had it felt like _this_.

Her wings trembled, overwhelmed by the sensation, and her tail coiled tightly around Castiel’s wrist, an unconscious, needy reaction she couldn’t suppress. It was maddening, it was dangerous and worse— it wasn’t enough.

She pressed in deeper, dragging him closer, until she felt his breath hitch once more. His fingers clenched around her waist, as if torn between pulling her in and pushing her away. The war raging inside of him was palpable, and for a brief moment, she thought she had won over him with this kiss.

S/T:

Castiel: (In front of the interviewing camera) On the heavens, I am the epitome of a good angel.

Velmoria: (Appears in a skimpy lingerie with Darvia trailing after her in something similar.) What are we talking about? (She takes a seat on his left knee and Darvia takes a seat on the other knee)

Castiel: (Clenches his fists) Nothing. Nothing at all. What makes you think we are talking about anything. Shut those cameras off! (He unfurls his wings and covers the three of them up, hiding them away from the prying eyes.)
