FALLEN ANGEL: MARRIED TO THE DEMON KING
Chapter 110: THE ANSWER (3)

Chapter 110: THE ANSWER (3)

Haniel sighed wearily, already feeling that it had been a mistake to mention The Archon’s mirror to Arella daughter of Camael. Her expression had grown mischievous, and she had given him an innocent smile that Haniel was sure was meant to look innocent.

However, Haniel was no fool.

His sire was one of the most mischievous angels in the spire. Just because he had grown a little and had stopped acting rebellious did not stop him doing things behind the council’s and the king’s back.

The expression that Arella currently had on her face was painfully similar to the one Kratel would have whenever he had gotten a bright idea... a bright idea that was actually stupid.

"Do not tell me that you plan for us to sneak into the hall of eternity for you to get that mirror. Do you plan for us to die?"

"If there truly is no other way, then what do you want us to do? I need to get back home, and if that is the only way for me to do that, then I will gladly do it." Arella, in the body of her sire, raised her hand and patted his shoulder, "You do not need to worry, all you need to do is point me in the right direction."

Haniel pressed his fingers tightly against his temples, then turned to look at Arella, with his halo tipping down his nose slightly, "If you promise to be silent, I may very well help you to go into the hall of eternity."

"I can be silent." She made a zipping motion over her lips, and threw away the key.

Haniel’s eyes narrowed, and he let out a heavy sigh, "We cannot simply walk in thought. We will be discovered almost immediately, and the High Council may notice that Kratel’s soul is absent, and they will strike you out of existence before you can even take two steps into the hall."

Arella raised a brow, "So then, what is the plan? Because although this is not my body, I am not exactly fond of the idea of being smitten out of existence."

A flicker of something dark passed through Haniel’s eyes. "We may very well be forced to break in."

Arella beamed, "See, I knew you and I would get along quite nicely. Of course your halo might have made you a little bit stuffy on the outside, but you are really just a ball of sunshine, aren’t you."

Haniel rolled his eyes, although he knew that Arella could not see the action behind his halo. "Flattery will not make me dislike you less."

Arella let out a low tsk, but beamed back at him regardless.

Although Haniel knew that this was not his sire, the fact that she wore his face, and the fact that it was his face that was smiling up at him, made his heart pound in his chest. His frown deepend, "If we fail, the high council will not show mercy. They will implore the king to cast Kratel into the void, thus stripping him of his title of crown prince and making him a fallen angel."

Arella lifted her chin, "I will ensure such disgrace does not befall him."

Haniel stared at her for a long moment, and then, almost reluctantly, extended his hand towards her, "Then, we must begin to plan immediately. For this moment, you and I are partners and we shall ensure that we complete our plan."

"You get your sire back, and I go back home to my family." Arella also extended her hand, and gave his own a firm shake.

Haniel glanced at the sight that lay beyond the balcony, wondering what the Archon’s Mirror would reveal. Was Kratel’s soul truly lost, and if it was, would that mean that this imposter would remain and become the new vessel that held the fate of heaven itself?

If that was the case, then what would happen to him, who lived and breathed for his sire?

Would he still want to live?

The beauty of the celestial spire was blinding, and the angels that flew in the sky together with those that walked on the ground filled the entire plane with holy power. Power that was granted to them by the goddess.

Angels had the noble duty of protecting humans from any danger that tried to wipe them out. They were holy, not holier than the goddess, but holy enough that the humans would worship them and give them offerings for taking care of their homes.

Haniel could not say that he did not like the role that he played.

However, he only played his role because he wanted to live up to the expectations that had been placed upon him by the one that had saved him. That was the only reason he fought, that was the only reason he lived.

He was the only reason that Haniel breathed.

"Okay, where do we start. Should we dress up like ninjas. Back in the human realm, there is a continent where they have these fighters who are referred to as ninjas. They are very good in what they do, and they are adept at hiding in the shadows. I have never seen one for myself of course, but I heard tons of stories from Jim." By the time she was done with her statement she was pacing over the small balcony, and it was obvious that she was excited. It would seem that this angel that had inhabited her sire’s body was a very young angel.

Haniel shook his head, and tossed out the thoughts that he had.

"The best thing for you to do at the moment is to practice being comfortable in your new body."

"What do you mean?" She finally stopped her pacing and turned to look at him.

"I will not pretend to have not noticed how clumsy you seem in my sire’s body. Perhaps it is because you are a female and he is quite tall."

Arella chuckled, and rubbed the back of her hair. "Well, just a little. I am higher from the ground than I am used to, and everything does feel odd."

"Like what?"

"Well, for one, his wings are massive." She gave him a twirl, and opened up his wings as widely as they could stretch.

The golden hues on his wings reflected the light beautifully. Haniel was entranced.

"Secondly, I do not seem to be able to use any of his holy power. It is quite odd. Back in my body I have already achieved the title of a mid rank one angel. That is a very big achievement you know. I am the strongest out of all the angels my age." She placed her hands on her hips and declared very proudly. Then, she begun to pace again.

"Third, I have wanted to ask you this for a while now, but why is there holy power in the air. Like, it is just floating around, belonging to different angels. It is very suffocating. What is the use of the halos if not to regulate their holy power."

"I see." Haniel nodded, as he listened to Arella’s ramblings.

He had had his suspicions, but what she said confirmed it.

She was not from their world.

He had thought that at the very least, she was from one of their future worlds, but the way she spoke, the things she said, did not in the slightest bit match anything from their world.

"How old are you, Arella, daughter of Camael?" He asked after she paused to take a breath.

She stopped her pacing, and turned to look at him, "Do you know that is impolite to ask a female their age? Some angels are very insecure once they turn fifteen hundred years you know. Do you have a wife. If you do not, then this is the reason why you do not have a wife. How will you take care of your children then if you have no sense of empathy?"

Haniel could feel a headache coming just from hearing her continually babble. Wife? Children?

What were they?

Human?

What in the heavens was going on back in the world where she lived. Had angels lost all their sense of self?
