FALLEN ANGEL: MARRIED TO THE DEMON KING
Chapter 109: THE ANSWER (2)

Chapter 109: THE ANSWER (2)

A/N: There seems to be something wrong with the way my Chapters are updating. So I ask that until I have fixed the issue, no one purchase privilege. Because I am at work from 7am to 9pm daily, it is taking longer to fix the issue, although I noticed the issue two days ago. I will try and fix such that the Chapters that come just before privilege are not affected and fix the entire issue over the weekend. I ask for all of your understanding, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

"Why? What exactly is Kratel?"

Haniel poured himself another cup of the tea. "You truly do not know. What is this future he spoke of. If even the one he brought has no idea why they are here. Oh Kratel. What were you thinking" His voice was low, and although Arella heard him, she did not understand what he meant.

"For now, you must not allow anyone to know you are not Kratel." He gripped his tea tightly in his hand, "There must be a reason why you were brought to this specific time and place, a reason why I am the one who noticed that Kratel’s body has awoken."

He raised one hand, and rubbed his finger on his forehead, "Great Heavens, why does he always leave me to do the heavy lifting in this relationship. Do I not have feelings?" He murmured once more as he picked up another piece of pastry and took an angry bite.

Arella observed Haniel in silence for a moment, taking in his frustration, his exhaustion, and the deep grief he was struggling to conceal. She exhaled slowly, placing her empty cup on the table with deliberate care. "You seem... oddly accepting of this," she finally said, tilting her head. "For someone who just learned their ’sire’ is missing, perhaps even lost forever."

Haniel scoffed, swirling the tea in his cup. "Accepting? No. I am merely doing what I always do—cleaning up after his messes." He took another sip before fixing his piercing gaze on her. "I will find a way to bring him although I am sure that he had a plan for bringing you here. The faster we figure out what that plan was, the easier it will be for us. For me."

His unwavering resolve made something uncomfortable coil in Arella’s stomach. He was placing faith in him, despite everything, despite not knowing any plans that Kratel had. Such unwavering loyalty was scary.

"Should I help you in any way?" Arella finally picked up the pastry and took a bite. It had a soft cakey texture, and was not too sweet. It reminded Arella of the cakes and cookies their chef at home would bake.

"The best thing you can do is remain silent if someone approaches you. He was known for his moods and sometimes for going silent for periods of time. Until at the very least all his memories come to you, or at the very least he returns." He stopped swirling his tea, looking at the contents, as if it held all the secrets to his problems.

"What exactly is Kratel?" Arella took another cake-cookie-pastry and stuffed it in her mouth, "why does he seem very important?"

"He is... everything."

Arella almost choked on the pastry at that. She coughed, covering her mouth as crumbs fell onto her lap. "I’m sorry... what?"

Haniel’s expression remained deadly serious as he slowly set his cup down. "Kratel is everything."

Arella gave him a blank stare. "That’s not an answer."

"It is the only answer you are ready for," Haniel replied, his tone dark. "If you truly carry his memories, then you must already have an inkling of this."

"Not the entirety of his memories."

Haniel hesitated, "You truly do not know." he murmured, more to himself than to her. He placed his cup down, and stood pacing to the edge of the balcony that overlooked the celestial spire. Beyond the horizon, gold and blue skies stretched endlessly, and the divine energy of the realm pulsed faintly through the air.

It was unlike anything Arella had ever experienced before, and was slightly intoxicating. "Kratel is not merely an angel." Haniel said at last, "He is more of a vessel, imbued with the most holy power, as is what happens to most who are destined to take the throne. Currently, his body is the anchor that balances the celestial and human realm. If his soul has been severed from the vessel, and you will inhabit it for the foreseeable future, I do not know what will become of this world."

"Could he have been so foolish?" Haniel’s voice was but a whisper, but Arella still heard it. She chose to ignore his ramblings, and instead concentrated on the pastry that was in front of her.

Arella let Haniel’s words sink in as she munched on the soft pastry. The taste was comforting, but her mind churned with unanswered questions. She was trapped in Kratel’s body, bound to his memories and his power, and now she learned that his absence could unravel the balance between realms.

No pressure.

None at all.

None in the slightest.

She was being honest...

Perhaps.

Or not.

Haniel remained at the balcony, his pale golden wings catching the light as the sky reflected off of them. There was a tension in his posture, one that made him seem almost... mortal.

Arella was sure that the only reason she had that thought process was because she was not used to seeing angels displaying so much emotion.

"The only way to confirm if he is really gone is the Archon’s mirror." Haniel turned to her. His voice was as low as it had been before, almost as if he did not want any other person to hear him. His robes were billowing in the wind, and his lips were pressed tightly together.

"The Archon’s Mirror?"

Haniel’s wings unfurled slightly, as he turned to face her fully. "It is a relic, one that reflects not flesh, but soul. It will reveal who you truly are, and perhaps, give us a clue as to why Kratel’s soul still lingers somewhere within you."

Arella felt a strange tug within her chest at the mention of the mirror.

Arella cleaned the crumbs off of her hands on one of the napkins that were on the table, "So, where do we have to go for me to use this mirror?"

Haniel’s jaw clenched, "It lies within the Hall of Eternity, deep within the celestial spire. I doubt even Kratel has express rights to go in the Hall of Eternity. We would need approval of the king, and of the angel’s council. The whole process might take weeks."

He lay his weight on the balcony edge, "to get to it, we would need to sneak in. "

Arella’s lips pulled up in a smirk, "So we are going to break into someplace? How exciting."

"I am not sure that I like the tone in your voice." Haniel’s eyes widened as he looked back at Arella.

S/T:

In an alternate timeline/universe: (This is all so confusing for the author too.)

If Castiel had gone into this new world with Arella:

Arella(gets that smirk on her face when seh wants to do something mischevious. Although the face is different, the facial reaction is just too similar for Castiel to ignore.)

Castiel: Arella, whatever you’re thinking, no.

Arella: (Fake pouts) But, I did not even say anything.

Castiel: Your face said everything that needed to be said. So in simple terms, no. Or do you want me to say it in Spanish? Noh.

Arella: Varzie. You support me? Do you not?

Varziel: (Who is in this alternate universe for some reason. Do not ask the author questions. The author is also slowly going crazy) Of course. Where do you want us to break into.

Haniel: Who said anything about breaking into anywhere?

Arella: (Avoids looking at his eyes.)

Castiel: Arella.

Arella: (In a small voice,) I thought it was the next obvious solution. How was I supposed to know that that is not what he meant? I am not all knowing. Nobody is.

(Later that night; Arella is sneaking through the palace walls, when she bumps into someone, who turns out to be Varziel.)

Arella: Ahahaha. Varzie, what are you doing here? It is so late, and are you not supposed to be in bed, you know, asleep.

Varziel: (Raises a brow) What about you? Are you not supposed to be in bed, especially seeing as you are not in your own body?

Arella: Of course, but you know, we all need to go for a walk sometimes. This place is new, and everything feels different, I feel like I need to get used to this place if we are going to stay here for a while.

Varziel: (Shakes his head and sighs) If you are quiet enough, I will help you get to where you want. Just stay behind me.

Arella: Kekekeke. (You do know this makes you my partner in crime, right?)

Varziel: Yeah yeah. Come on. Let us go.
