Chapter 133: Chapter 133: Declaring Sovereignty with a Kiss.

The two women surreptitiously spied without getting noticed by those involved. Hugging the corridor’s wall, they peered from a few meters away. At that distance, they couldn’t hear the whispers clearly, only seeing a woman leaning closer, a flicker of orange from a lighter glowing in the dim corner as she lit a cigarette for the man.

Pei Yu, merely fiddling with the tobacco out of habit, had no intention of lighting it. He sidestepped to avoid the woman’s outstretched hand and said coolly, "Just say what you want to say."

He had drunk a lot yesterday; hence at today’s dinner, Pei Yu did not touch his wine glass nor wish to be around any alcohol scent. He knew his antics from the day before had annoyed Shen Zhiyi. He intended to behave properly today; thus, he excused himself to step out for a smoke but did not expect to be followed.

"I was just about to say," the woman flipped her hair, slightly dissatisfied with his cold demeanor but knowing he was always like this; she did not make a scene—instead, sensibly not continuing to annoy him and directly asked, "What do you think of me?"

In terms of family background, appearance, and capability, she considered herself not lacking—certainly among the few who could measure up—that confidence fueled her to make her approach.

Pei Yu was expressionless; if anything, he seemed slightly dull and annoyed. He was well aware of her intentions and scoffed, "Didn’t you have your sights set on Qin Fang?"

She had pursued Qin Fang for nearly a year, and everyone in their circle was aware of her plans, even discussing when they could celebrate her and Qin Fang’s wedding.

"He’s too frivolous," the woman unabashedly objected, "Though business marriages mean everyone doing as they please, I don’t want to be cuckolded that much."

She moved closer, "Chairman Pei is different."

A "snap", the sound of the lighter, an orange flame dancing near the woman’s face—any closer and it might singe her. She immediately stopped, pulling back slightly, knowing it was a warning from Pei Yu.

He was not the type to be lenient with women; she had known this from the start.

"Why act like this," she said, puzzled, "aren’t you ever planning to get married? I am your best choice for a spouse, you should know that."

The night breezes were cool. Pei Yu, facing the incoming wind, squinted and asked a seemingly nonsensical question, "Don’t you go online?"

"What?" The woman was visibly confused, not understanding his point, "What do you mean?"

She of course went online, but didn’t catch every piece of news, wondering why Pei Yu brought this up.

Pei Yu, too lazy to explain further, said, "Ask a friend who’s always online, and you’ll realize how foolish your approach was today."

His roundabout words seemed completely irrelevant to her, in her view, thinking he was simply brushing her off, "Pei Yu, are you truly not considering me?"

Ignoring Pei Yu’s previous warning, she suddenly moved closer, her figure unmistakably accentuated by the fitted dress, her tone low and deliberately teasing.

"Don’t rush to refuse; we could at least try."

The space on the small balcony was limited; as she moved closer, it was as if her whole being was pressing against him. Pei Yu remained impassive but dialed a number on his phone right in front of her.

The next second, a ringtone sounded in the hallway.

Pei Yu paused, looking toward the direction of the ringing, a few meters away in the hallway, someone was standing there.

Having just seen Pei Yu make the call, then hearing her own phone ringing startled the actress next to Shen Zhiyi. Before she could react, she saw Shen Zhiyi hang up the call.

She was a bit baffled. Was it just a coincidence?

After hanging up the phone, Pei Yu stepped forward, his voice echoing in the quiet hallway, clearly audible.

He spoke hesitantly, "Zhizhi?"

Is she here?

Shen Zhiyi remained silent, taking a few steps closer, her figure fully illuminated under the light.

Seeing that it really was her, Pei Yu descended the steps, intending to walk over.

"Pei Yu," the woman hurried after him. She glanced at Shen Zhiyi, suddenly understanding why Pei Yu asked if she went online, but she still didn’t grasp Pei Yu’s intention. If he merely had a lover outside, she wouldn’t mind, "Who is she?"

Pei Yu paused slightly, looked at her, and spoke in a light but firm tone, without any hesitation, "My wife."

The woman was instantly stunned, finding the situation utterly absurd.

How could this be possible?

Ignoring what she might think, Pei Yu quickly walked to Shen Zhiyi’s side. Seeing that she hadn’t spoken, he knew something was amiss, but he had no explanations to offer. If she had been here all along, she should clearly understand that nothing had happened between him and that woman.

He was slightly uneasy, "Zhizhi?"

Raising his hand, he lightly touched her cheek, which was somewhat hot. Pei Yu asked softly, "Did you drink?"

Shen Zhiyi looked up at him, her face showing no particular emotion, seemingly calm, "When did you get back?"

"Two hours ago," Pei Yu said, "I sent you a message. Didn’t you see it?"

After finishing her call with Duan Jiaze, Shen Zhiyi hadn’t checked her phone again. She responded with a simple "Oh," saying, "I didn’t check my phone."

"Mm," her reaction was slightly slow, probably slightly tipsy. Pei Yu softened his voice, "Are you headed to the restroom?"

Shen Zhiyi nodded, then shook her head, "Don’t want to drink anymore, came out for some air."

The two of them spoke as if no one else was around, and although they weren’t exhibiting overly intimate behavior, it was evident to any observer that their relationship was intimate.

The woman couldn’t help but interject, "Pei Yu ..."

She couldn’t accept it, nor could she comprehend, when had she ever seen him speak so gently and tenderly to someone?

As soon as her voice came out, Shen Zhiyi first looked up, her gaze plain. Then, all of a sudden, she moved.

In the brightly lit corridor, Shen Zhiyi suddenly grabbed Pei Yu’s tie, pulling him into a bend. Meanwhile, she tiptoed and kissed his lips.

This was an unexpected kiss, catching everyone present off guard, including Pei Yu himself, but his reaction was quick. Before Shen Zhiyi’s heels touched the ground, he supported the back of her head, deepening the sudden kiss.

Not letting him kiss for too long, Shen Zhiyi turned her head to avoid him, her lips glistening slightly. She looked at the woman standing not far away and asked calmly, "Miss, you wanted to say something?"

Say something? The woman couldn’t utter a single word now. She saw Pei Yu’s hand on Shen Zhiyi’s waist, saw his restless Adam’s apple, saw his gaze that from the beginning never left Shen Zhiyi’s body.

Even now, he still didn’t shift his gaze away.

In that brief, simple kiss, Pei Yu was unquestionably the one unable to pull away.

His initial introduction of Shen Zhiyi was certainly not a joke.
