Chapter 541 - 541 539 Frost Star

Chapter 541: Chapter 539 Frost Star Chapter 541: Chapter 539 Frost Star Russell’s title was that of an Earl, although many believed he was about to become a Dragon Knight, he had yet to actually become one.

So, King Ares did not receive Russell with grand ceremony in the Golden Palace.

He simply invited Russell privately to the Golden Palace for a casual gathering, to chat, and have dinner together.

“Russell, it’s been a long time.”

“Your Majesty, it’s only been a year,” replied Russell. It was just the start of the Warm Season last year when he killed Shuang Ge, and he had a rushed meeting with King Ares.

“A year’s time is enough for much to occur, please have a seat.” After inviting Russell to sit, King Ares said, “You wrote to me, suggesting that I build observatories to watch the stars, and I’ve built fifty of them across the kingdom.”

Russell did not keep the technology of the astronomical telescope to himself; he shared it directly with King Ares.

So, the scholars of the Scorching Torrent Kingdom soon made a sufficient number of telescopes to observe the starry sky.

“Have you observed the ‘Missing One’?” asked Russell.

“There have been a few brief records of it, and each time the ‘Missing One’ was recorded, I could feel some force stirring deep in the Snowfield,” King Ares said gravely, “So, your guess might be correct.”

“‘Missing One’ is indeed the world of the Frost Giant?”

“It’s almost certain. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be such a strong connection, and the last earthquake—I inquired with surrounding kingdoms—it happened almost simultaneously across most countries in the Dragon Sleep Continent. This disturbance was definitely caused by the ‘Missing One’.”

King Ares paused, then reflected, “Who would have thought that our home is a sphere, and that the world of the Frost Giants is also a sphere.”

“That’s called a planet. Each star is a sphere,” said Russell.

“‘Missing One’ has been confirmed as the world of the Frost Giants, so we need to change that name, don’t you think?”

“I’ve thought about it too. How about we call it the Frost Giant Planet, or Frost Star for short?” The previous Ice Cream that the Little Dream Dragon ate could then be renamed to Frost Star Bead, to align with the Ice Soul Pearl and Ice Pellet Pearl, as they are all forms of power crystals.

“Then we might as well call our Dragon Sleep Continent ‘Dragon Star,'” suggested King Ares.

“Your Majesty, Frost Star is invading our Dragon Star, and now that we’ve located Frost Star, how should we respond?”

“I am currently reaching out to neighboring countries. This is an issue that all of humanity must unite to tackle,” King Ares frowned, “But in the short term, it will be difficult to find a breakthrough… Dragons may dominate the skies, but they cannot fly out of the Gang Wind Layer to counterattack Frost Star.”

“Indeed,” Russell sighed.

The Gang Wind Layer of Dragon Star was like the atmosphere of Earth in his old home, but its power was incomparable. Even if a dragon wished to cross the Gang Wind Layer, it would not emerge unscathed—at least it would lose a layer of skin.

But this was not the main reason. Beyond the Gang Wind Layer, one would leave the domain of Dragon Star, and there would be no magic power in space. Even the air would no longer exist; dragons would have no means to fly—unless they could reach the second cosmic velocity.

“If I remember correctly, back on Earth, to fly into space and break free from Earth’s gravity, one would need at least Mach 31!”

Mach roughly equated to the speed of sound, so Mach 31 meant thirty-one times the speed of sound.

“The fastest I’ve gone when merging with Polly and Hape didn’t even reach Mach 2, let alone Mach 31… To fly out of Dragon Star solely by the power of dragons and Phantom Beasts—that’s definitely out of the question,” Russell silently shook his head.

In his mind, escaping Dragon Star would still require industrialization.

But the industrialization he had set up on the Blackflame Plains could barely manage to stoke a simple furnace. To manufacture a rocket capable of escaping Dragon Star’s pull would take at least several decades or even a century or more.

“Actually, I can wait. After the Ice Cream Volcano erupts, I will be a Dragon Knight, and living for another hundred or two hundred years will not be an issue… Frost Star’s invasion has been ongoing for tens of thousands of years; extending it by another hundred years is inconsequential. So, I will still have a chance to solve this problem!”

With this thought, Russell immediately regained his confidence.

As for how to attack Frost Star after flying out of Dragon Star, Russell had yet to ponder that—extraordinary worlds have their own extraordinary solutions.

At this time,

King Ares said, “You needn’t worry too much about the invasion of Frost Star. We, the older generation of Dragon Knights, will naturally come up with a solution. Scorching and I have already prepared ourselves to face the Tri-Dragon Sacrifice Method!”

The implication was clear.

If the Shadowflame Dragon returned to ancient times, there would be no hope for Russell to take it back.

Even if the Shadowflame Dragon had chosen Russell as its Knight, for the sake of humanity’s great cause, it would be best if Russell were to exhibit a spirit of sacrifice and pretend that hope didn’t exist.

In light of this,

Russell gave no affirmation or denial.

But reclaiming the Shadowflame Dragon was an action that had to be done; it was a condition he had promised to the Shadowflame Dragon.

No matter whether the Tri-Dragon Sacrifice Method was real or fake, the Shadowflame Dragon’s hope could be given willingly, but it must absolutely not be taken by force.

Seeing Russell’s lack of response, a flash of dissatisfaction crossed King Ares’ face. He lifted his goblet and said, “Come, let’s drink together, to the hope that mankind will soon achieve victory against the invasion of Frost Star.”

“To victory,” Russell raised his cup.

Afterward, the two no longer discussed the serious matter of Frost Star’s invasion and instead casually chatted about the ways of cultivation.

As the wine took effect, King Ares, slightly inebriated, said, “My granddaughters have all grown up and married; otherwise, I would have certainly chosen one to wed you.”

“I am grateful for Your Majesty’s kind intentions,” Russell acknowledged.

“You’ve taken them to heart, but you can also receive in person,” King Ares added. “Although I have no suitable granddaughters, I still have a few grandnieces. What do you think, Russell? Would you consider joining my Ares family through marriage?”

“I haven’t yet given these matters any thought. The world is vast, and I have not traveled everywhere. Perhaps, after I have finished exploring Dragon Sleep Continent, I might consider this step,” Russell deflected, not because he was pursuing romantic love freely chosen.

He wished to find someone who would be a perfect match for him, in both soul and heart.

Scorching Torrent Kingdom, Shadowflame Duchy, they were but corners of the world; he wanted to travel across the vast expanse of human civilization.

To meet and know women with different exotic charms.

“Good, that’s ambitious!” King Ares toasted, “It’s a pity that I already had children when I was riding dragons, otherwise I would have gathered all the world’s beauties! Come, let’s finish this drink. No matter how many lovers you might take on your travels, remember, a girl from home makes the best companion!”

An esteemed Dragon Knight, and a future Dragon Knight, at this private banquet they drank heartily, becoming thoroughly inebriated.

However, as soon as he was escorted away to rest by the palace servants,

Russell swiftly circulated his Dragon Breath, dispelling the effects of the alcohol, and regained his clarity. Lying on the large bed in the guest room of the Golden Palace, he silently reflected on the exchange at this private banquet.

“Polly, did you notice, King Ares, although he doesn’t seem forceful on the surface, is actually quite resolved deep down?”

“Yes, indeed that’s the case.”

Since the beginning, King Ares had been extremely courteous towards Russell, even showing concern for his junior with the attitude of an elder. But regarding the hope of the Shadowflame Dragon returning to ancient times, King Ares had never wavered.

“This won’t be easy. If we want to reclaim the Shadowflame Dragon’s hope for itself, It surely won’t be simple… We might have to clash with King Ares after all.”

“Then let’s fight it out, and show him Ice Cream’s power!” Polly responded assertively.

“Hm!” At those words, Russell was invigorated, “Not bad, when the sky falls, the tall ones will hold it up. Once Ice Cream is born, I will be one of the tall ones. I’ll take on the role as humanity’s leader… King Ares, forget about the Tri-Dragon Sacrifice Method. Just support me in battle!”
