Chapter 440 - 440 439 Frost Giant

Chapter 440: Chapter 439 Frost Giant Chapter 440: Chapter 439 Frost Giant The next day, Russell awoke under the shining sunlight.

Unicorn Polly still marked Russell’s forehead as the Mark of the Thunder Lord, faithfully guarding his safety.

“Haha, Polly, we’ve hit the jackpot, hit the jackpot!”

“Found Snow Giant Da?”

“Found him, and had a big feast too!” Russell briefly recounted last night’s events in Gloomy Dreamland, “Although I don’t know why the Xueda Pilot wanted to refine Snow Giant Da, we’ve managed to tear off a large chunk of flesh!”

“Congratulations.”

“Shared joy is double joy. The stronger Ice Cream becomes, the more powerful our Dream Family will be,” Russell couldn’t help rejoicing.

He felt himself one step closer to becoming a Dragon Knight.

Then, both the man and the unicorn swiftly left Heibo Snow Forest and crossed the vast snowfield to return to Cigar Courtyard.

Black Oil Dragon Ross was here, guarding the star crystal formed from the eye of Snow Giant Da.

“Guwa!” Pseudo-Harpy Dragon Hape also came to welcome them; it had stayed behind in Cigar Courtyard to protect Wuyao Snake Manor.

“Last night was indeed full of thrills, enrichment, and plentiful harvest,” Russell pondered aloud, petting the tuft of silly hair on Hape’s head.

At that moment, Ross, atop the third-floor rooftop, poked his head down and then spat out a star crystal the size of a human head.

Its irregular edge, growing with sharp star-like spikes, resembled stars. The pale blue glow was trapped within the crystal. Incredibly hard, even Ross with his bite couldn’t break off any of the spike-like rays of starlight.

Held in hand, it was very prickly.

“Impressive, though incomprehensible.” Russell couldn’t discern any special powers it had compared to the Ice Pellet Pearl or the Ice Soul Pearl.

Only a dragon could penetrate the secrets of power that touched the world’s Origin Power.

“But then again, what exactly is the relationship between the Xueda Pilot and Snow Giant Da? How could he just refine Snow Giant Da so casually… Would Dragon Knights casually refine dragons? It feels like it should be the other way around, with the dragons refining Dragon Knights…”

Russell couldn’t understand.

After a breakfast in Cigar Courtyard, he carefully stored the star crystal, planning to nourish Little Dream Dragon with it once it awoke.

“It’s time to meet His Highness Shadowflame Dragon and recount last night’s tale.” Having eaten his fill, Russell rode Black Oil Dragon Ross, deployed Thunder Boosting Technology, and sped rapidly towards Red Castle.

He then took the underground passage beneath Red Castle to enter Shadowflame Volcano.

The way was unhindered.

Clearly, Shadowflame Dragon had ordered that no one should obstruct Russell—a policy that was likely to fuel further speculation among Red Castle’s nobility about the relationship between Russell and Shadowflame Dragon.

“Is Shadowflame Dragon deliberately creating this impression… Is it to cover up Ice Cream’s existence, or is he laying the groundwork for something else?”

Russell briefly entertained the thought but then cast it aside.

At that point, the grand doors opened, and he stood on the Magma Platform, locking gazes with the Shadowflame Dragon bathing in the magma.

The doors slowly closed behind him.

All other sounds were cut off.

Gurgling, the Magic Dragon Language arose: “Little guy, you’re here.”

“Yes. After your Highness Shadowflame’s shadow dispersed, there were occurrences I must inform you about,” Russell swiftly described the events of the evening. “… I beheaded Snow Giant Da with a single stroke of my sword, which should have ended everything, but then…”

With a roar of “Faust,” the Xueda Pilot made his entrance…

Once Russell finished relaying the battle, Shadowflame Dragon’s gaze grew solemn: “Faust, you are certain it exclaimed ‘Faust’?”

“Yes,” Russell crisply imitated, “‘Faust’… or perhaps it sounded more like… ‘Fo Ruosi Te’!”

He then inquired, “You seem familiar with this voice?”

“Faust or Fo Ruosi Te, in the limited language of Snow Demons, means ‘frost’!” the Shadowflame Dragon said gravely, “The Xueda Pilots you’ve seen… might actually be the mythical Frost Titans!”

“Frost Titans?” Russell’s eyes widened, “How is that possible? The ice that covers the Dragon Sleep Continent, according to legend, was the masterpiece of the Frost Titans… All Snow Demons, Snow Giants, Snow Ghosts, all are creations of the Frost Titans…”

Russell was astonished.

But suddenly, he remembered the Xueda Pilot melting the Snow Giant in the Gloomy Dreamland, and his amazement came to an abrupt halt: “Could it be that the Xueda Pilots are indeed the legendary Frost Titans who created the Snow Giants, Snow Demons, and Snow Ghosts?”

At this time, the Shadowflame Dragon shook its head: “Shadowflame is puzzled as well. If the legend is true, and the Frost Titan arrives, it will be bad for Shadowflame, that bandit from the Scorching Torrent Kingdom, and all of you little fellows; none would have a place to be buried!”

It found a self-serving reason: “Maybe this minor Snow Giant simply shouted a slogan, just as you humans like to chant slogans.”

“But last night,” Russell said, “I went to hunt down the Snow Giant Da and discovered something interesting.”

“Oh?”

“The Xueda Pilot seems to have assimilated Snow Giant Da,” Russell said. “It incorporated the cloak transformed from Snow Giant Da into its own body, and then its body began to swell. Hmm, when I last saw it, it had grown to about thirty meters tall.”

“What kind of move is this?” The Shadowflame Dragon shook its head, sending splashes of magma flying.

“Maybe you should ask the Scorching Torrent Kingdom. The Dragon Knight there might know something.”

“What he knows, Shadowflame knows!” The Shadowflame Dragon’s eyes flickered with a hateful light, “Dragon Sleep Continent is changing, Snow Giants are changing, even the hope of returning to the ancient is becoming faint and elusive…”

“Your Highness Shadowflame, stop being a riddle dragon and just tell me what is the hope of returning to the ancient,” Russell urged.

“Riddle?” The figure of Russell reflected in the narrow pupils of the Shadowflame Dragon, “Shadowflame never speaks in riddles.”

“But you’re always holding back.”

“Because even Shadowflame doesn’t know what it will be like to go back to the ancient times; it is just a hope that has lingered since the birth of dragons… When your Ice Cream Volcano erupts, it will also harbor this hope.”

“Alright.” Russell accepted the explanation of the Shadowflame Dragon, it seemed that the Shadowflame Dragon indeed did not know what hope was.

After all.

It never had the chance to return to the ancient times.

Setting aside his doubts, he returned to the main issue.

Russell synthesized what the Shadowflame Dragon had said and summarized the information revealed by the previous night’s battle: “Your Highness Shadowflame, you see, is there a possibility that the Xueda Pilot is indeed a Frost Titan, but, one that has not yet evolved?”

“An unevolved Frost Titan?” The Shadowflame Dragon narrowed its eyes.

“Humans need training to evolve from a regular Great Knight, step by step into a Phantom Beast Knight, Flying Dragon Knight, Dragon Knight. So, what about the Frost Titans? If they are in fact the true natives of another world, this would make sense.”

Snow Ghosts, Snow Demons, and Snow Giants seem more like artificial creations, puppets or robots.

Snow Ghosts are driven by Ice Pellet Pearls, Snow Demons by Ice Soul Pearls, and Snow Giants are powered by those starry crystals.

“Perhaps the Frost Titan is like our human Dragon Knights who need abundant Origin Power to evolve. The Xueda Pilot’s controlled Snow Giant Da has already collapsed, so it recycles the waste by directly assimilating it,” Russell continued.

“I suspect this is an action of last resort. If possible, it would prefer to keep controlling Snow Giant Da, hunting dragons to strengthen itself with Origin Power, rather than hastily assimilate it.”

“Makes sense,” the Shadowflame Dragon nodded, “Though you humans are frail, your wisdom is not to be underestimated.”

“I’ll take that as a compliment,” Russell responded indifferently, “In short, this Xueda Pilot is definitely not a Frost Titan, but it is a true creature from another realm… For now, let’s just call it a Frost Giant Troll.”

“Frost Giant Troll?” The Shadowflame Dragon mused on the term, then nodded in agreement, “So what do you think this Frost Giant Troll will do next?”

“I don’t know,” Russell shook his head, “It might seek revenge, snatch another Snow Giant from somewhere to continue hunting you; or it might flee. With both you and the Torrential Flood Dragon guarding this warm land, and me keeping an eye on it, it won’t be able to continue.”

It was saying things without saying anything at all.

The Shadowflame Dragon narrowed its eyes for a moment, then slowly sank into the magma: “A thousand words are inferior to the early eruption of Ice Cream Volcano, Shadowflame is looking forward to that day!”

“Soon, very soon!” Russell bowed and left Shadowflame Volcano.
