Chapter 236 - 236 235 Enjoy the Ice Cream

Chapter 236: Chapter 235 Enjoy the Ice Cream Chapter 236: Chapter 235 Enjoy the Ice Cream The snowfield was vast, and as Russell followed the Knight Regiment in their charge, he had no idea how many Snow Ghosts, Ghost Beasts, and even Snow Ghosts mounted on Ghost Beasts they had hunted down.

These were all the periphery of the Snow Demon Legion.

On the snowfield there were endless Snow Ghosts; each year they killed a great many, yet the number of Snow Ghosts didn’t seem to decrease. They were like weeds, sprouting en masse after a snowfall.

He couldn’t understand the origin of the Snow Ghosts.

Right now, Russell couldn’t care less about that, nor about the imminent battle between Snow Giant Da and the Shadowflame Dragon. His mind was occupied with a single thought: charge, hunt, and harvest Ice Pellet Pearls.

Ice Pellet Pearls were money, they were Gold Coins!

They were also essential for casting his skill, Quiet Dream Gaze, and served as occasional snacks for the Little Dream Dragon.

“So many Snow Ghosts, Russell,” communicated Unicorn Polly in their minds.

“No matter how many there are, we will eventually exterminate them all. Rest assured, Polly, this great battle is destined to end with human victory.”

“Mm, I believe it.”

“Then let’s get to slaughtering!”

Unicorn Polly didn’t have any active attack-type magic; the Wind Walking Skill was passive, while Wraithwalk and Ethereal Dream Escape Skill were support magic.

But as a Fantasy Beast, Polly had powerful offensive capabilities.

Its singular horn was incomparably sharp, more so than the Green Ceramic Sword, tougher too. It would simply charge at any Snow Ghost it encountered.

The Prime Breath on its horn surged, directly smashing a Snow Ghost into pieces.

The elegant mane, the split corpses, the clash of snow white against azure blue—violent aesthetics were on full display in this moment.

“Charge!” Eric yelled loudly.

“Woof!” Kevin the Gold and Silver Wolfhound, positioned at the rear support group, unleashed his magic—Explosive Frostfire—from his eyes. The light struck a Snow Ghost, instantly blasting it to smithereens and sending an Ice Pellet Pearl flying into the air.

Then Kevin leapt, biting the Ice Pellet Pearl and tossing it to a Knight beside him: “Woof woof!”

“The seventh Ice Pellet Pearl, I’m keeping count, Kevin!” This Knight was James, Russell’s Knight Attendant, the weakest of the bunch, so he was at the rear of the group, responsible for collecting Ice Pellet Pearls. His small bag was already filled with quite a few pearls.

“There’s a mounted Big Green Ghost!” Eric’s voice came again. “Entire support squad, Spearhead Formation!”

Boom, boom, boom!

The hooves tromped on the ice cap, emitting a dull, thunderous roar as the support squad, with Eric as the spearhead, shifted into the Spearhead Formation.

Russell was right behind Eric, clearly viewing a large Snow Ghost mounted on a Ghost Beast. It wielded an ice-sculpted club studded with fangs, its face grotesque, silently roaring, and the mount resembled a cross between a tiger and a rhinoceros.

The entire scene was incredibly brutal.

Yet upon contact, they were penetrated by the long spears of Eric and Russell’s Knights, tumbling from the Ghost Beast’s back.

The Ghost Beast itself was impaled by Unicorn Polly’s horn, the Prime Breath furiously surging within, splitting it open in an instant.

In a flash, the mounted Big Green Ghost was brought to its knees.

The Spearhead Formation drilled through, each Knight swinging his sword, chopping deeply into the Snow Giant and Ghost Beast. After one charge, the mounted Big Green Ghost was reduced to chunks of flesh and bone.

“Heh heh!” James at the rear of the squad dismounted with a flip.

Wielding a mace, he repeatedly hammered the still-twitching head of the Snow Giant until it became nothing but a pile of icy slush, digging out a high-quality Ice Pellet Pearl from inside. He then proceeded to hammer the Ghost Beast’s head as well.

Finding another Ice Pellet Pearl, he exclaimed, “Wish we had this business every day!”

Suddenly.

Someone shouted, “James, watch your back!”

Upon hearing this, James rolled forward on the spot, narrowly avoiding a long spear that thrust toward him. Had he not dodged, the spear would have pierced his neck.

It was the remaining half-body of a Snow Ghost clutching an ice-carved spear, suddenly surging up to attack. Unfortunately, after James evaded, the mutilated body had no chance to launch a second strike.

James swung his hammer furiously, hammering down on the remnants of the Snow Ghost’s body: “I’ll show you, sneaking up on me, I’ll show you sneaking up on me! You’re already reduced to half and still trying to be relevant. Think you’re immortal or something, huh?”

He didn’t stop until he had smashed the Snow Ghost’s half-body into mush, then he let out a breath of foul air, still frightened, “Damn, you think a sneak attack can kill me? The Shadowflame Dragon is coming soon, and I’m watched over by the dragon every day!”

“Quickly clean up the battlefield, go through all the pieces of the body to prevent any missed parts that could launch another sneak attack.” Eric turned his horse around and came back, “After cleaning, rest here for a quarter of an hour!”

The strain of the battle Qi resonance from the repeated charges had exhausted many knights.

Russell didn’t dismount. Clearing the battlefield, such a menial task, naturally didn’t fall to Lord Baron like him; he simply looked into the distance.

The other four units of the Knight Regiment were hunting Snow Demons.

This level of battle had been expressly forbidden to Russell by Baron Roman, even after Russell was promoted to Phantom Beast Knight. There were two reasons: it was too dangerous, as Roman was worried for Russell’s safety; and it was feared it might expose him, possibly leading to him being called to participate in even greater conflicts.

So far,

Only Baron Roman, Uncle Mejie, Cousin Mel, and Eric knew of Russell’s advancement to Phantom Beast Knight.

“Do you remember when we just arrived at Wuyao Snake Manor, and Lone Wolf Lisbon attracted a group of Snow Ghosts, which led to a bloody battle with them?” Russell reminisced.

Upon hearing this, Eric replied in a muted voice, “I remember.”

“Back then, a single Snow Ghost felt so powerful, their bodies seemed as tough as if they were impervious to swords and spears. I didn’t expect that in less than a year, Snow Ghosts would be no match for us, not even worth mentioning, even a mounted knight could slaughter them with ease.”

“Both Sir and I have transformed in strength. Now we are fully capable of hunting Snow Demons,” Eric said calmly.

“Yes, Snow Demons…”

Russell merely sighed with the sentiment and had no immediate desire to engage with a Snow Demon.

For one thing, there was indeed a risk involved, and he would avoid danger wherever possible to minimize risks as a principle; for another, the Ice Soul Pearls obtained from hunting Snow Demons in reality would eventually have to be handed over to Red Castle. It was better to feast with the Little Dream Dragon at night.

After all, if the Ice Pellet Pearls were eaten by the Little Dream Dragon, so be it; he could afford it.

But an Ice Soul Pearl was worth hundreds of Gold Coins, a hard-earned military exploit that was nearly impossible to come by. Feeding it to the Little Dream Dragon would be too costly.

“Dreams are better… The M-shaped mark in the palm of my hand is still there; clearly, the Snow Giant Da can’t suppress the Little Dream Dragon. Ah, tonight is destined to be a feast of gluttony!” Russell thought cheerfully, not needing to seek out his prey, as the Snow Ghosts were everywhere around him.

In this manner,

From morning to afternoon, over a dozen units of the Knight Regiment fought on the vast snowfields for an entire day, piercing through the outskirts of the Snow Demon Legion and killing countless Snow Ghosts.

At night, the Knight Regiment withdrew to the caverns to rest.

After falling asleep, with a “caw,” the Little Dream Dragon arrived as promised, first pulling Unicorn Polly into the dreamscape, then swiftly flying towards the snowfields.

“Ice Cream, aren’t you afraid of Snow Giant Da?” Russell asked curiously. Previously, when they approached Shadowflame Volcano, the Little Dream Dragon played dead. But now, over a hundred kilometers away from Snow Giant Da, there was no sign of fear from the Little Dream Dragon.

“Caw caw!” the Little Dream Dragon cried disdainfully.

Clearly, it had a different attitude toward Snow Giant Da compared to the Shadowflame Dragon.

Suddenly, amidst the darkness ahead, a shimmer of cyan light appeared. Excited, the Little Dream Dragon flapped its wings faster, and as they drew closer, more and more cyan lights illuminated the surrounding darkness.

Russell couldn’t help but shout out loud, “Feast to your heart’s content, Ice Cream!”

“Caw!”
