Chapter 890: Countless Immortals and Forces Gathered [Traitor]
Shenlian Yingyue, who was observing from the side with her companions, narrowed her eyes. Why were there so many immortal disciples gathered here? Most of them belonged to the Human Race, while two other races appeared to be unknown, based on the colors of their eyes and hair.
The Human Race here possessed black hair and eyes, dark as polished onyx, catching light like a starless sky. Unless they practiced some secret skill, their appearances would remain unchanged. In contrast, other races were easily recognized for their unique appearances and the distinctive colors of their hair and eyes.
"Elven race, what are you doing here? It’s rare in millennia that your beings would want to participate in a conflict," a group of immortal dragons from the Dragon Race said as they appeared in human forms, their features radiating divine majesty. A pair of majestic dragon horns emerged from each of their heads.
They possessed deep, dusky crimson hair and deep red eyes, like the vibrant color of pomegranate seeds. They wore imperial black silk robes adorned with silver wave patterns. Their sleeves billowed like dragon wings, and their sashes shimmered with scaled designs. They were from the Long Clan.
"I should return this question to you. You Dragon Race, instead of guarding your valuable treasures in your domain, are you here to join the fun too?" another group of immortal beings replied, their voices ethereal like a heavenly melody.
The immortal elves of the Elven Race appeared as ethereal beings, their features blending celestial grace with untamed nature. Their hair was as white as snow, as pure as clouds and milk. Their eyes were silver-white, reflecting the eternal starlight.
They wore flowing hazel-green hanfu; their sleeves fluttered like falling petals, and their sashes were tied with living ivy. Their ears curved delicately to a point, slightly longer than human ears, elegantly tapered and subtly pointed, a mark of their ancient lineage. They were from the Ling Clan.
While the two immortal races conversed in an indifferent but sarcastic tone, the Human Race also glanced at them and at the other immortal forces with vigilance.
Some forces were acquaintances, while others were long-time foes. Some pretended to be friendly on the surface while secretly waiting for an opportunity to stab each other in the back, while a few projected cold and disdainful expressions openly.
Among all the forces gathered from various places, Shenlian Yingyue noticed that several forces had previously clashed with the immortal disciples of the Cold Maple Palace. One force, in particular, didn’t even bother to hide their disdain.
"Ehh, I wonder who this group of immortal people is. It seems to be the unmasked, self-righteous immortal disciples of the Cold Maple Palace, parading about with their chins raised high, casting disdainful glances upon the world below," the immortal disciples from the Hundred-Faced Mirage Sect said with a pretended surprise.
"You’re the weakest force among all forces, and we didn’t expect you to appear here before us. What despicable methods have you used?" they pondered disdainfully.
"It turns out to be a bunch of ugly people whose faces are so hideous that they have to hide their true appearances under the disguise of masks," the immortal disciples from the Cold Maple Palace sneered coldly in response.
"How are you so sure that we’re ugly? And are you not? Wearing silk veils all day long, who are you pretending to be mysterious for? Those who know you well have already seen your hypocritical faces," the immortal disciples from the Hundred-Faced Mirage Sect crossed their arms and chuckled.
In truth, none of them showed their real faces to the outside world. Their faces appeared different and unique only because of a secret skill from their sect.
The sect did not permit them to show their true faces to outsiders. Only when they were with their sect leader, elders, masters, or fellow sect members were they allowed to reveal their true appearances. Of course, they could reveal their real faces publicly if they were sure that doing so would not bring disaster or trouble to the sect.
"We’re not a bunch of cowards who are afraid to show their true colors to the world like some people. Humph! At least, we are true beauties and are not afraid of using our real identities to face troubles," the Cold Maple Palace immortal disciples said, narrowing their eyes.
"True beauty? Pfft!! Don’t make us laugh! Where did you get such confidence from? Your parents, or your Palace Lord? But that woman seemed desperate enough to try and seduce our Sect Master, only to fail miserably."
"From what we know, your Sect Master is an ugly old man full of wrinkles. It made our Palace Lord feel sick for an entire week after she saw through your Sect Master’s true face."
Neither side showed any signs of backing down. It seemed they had completely forgotten the true purpose of coming here.
Meanwhile, the Glass Lizards coldly watched the immortal beings sneering at each other. They wondered if these immortals had come only for that thing, or if they were after the Sunfire Crystal as well. If so, they would have to activate the hidden formation that their ancestors had left behind to hide their region.
How could these outsiders break into their region one after another like this? Who had revealed the path? Their expressions turned ugly immediately. Were there traitors among them? But which fool would leak this information to the outside world? Doing so was practically an act of suicide.
Just as the situation grew tense, the Ember Dune Desert shook as if struck by an earthquake. The sky darkened, thunder rumbled, and the wind turned cold. It was like a stormy sky that was about to rain, but held back at the brink.
"The ancient treasure is about to appear!" everyone exclaimed. This was the real reason they had come to the Forgotten Domain, to obtain the ancient treasure birthed by nature itself.
Occasionally, once in hundreds of years, ancient treasures would surface in certain locations. It was as if nature itself wished to grant these opportunities for immortals to rise. Nature showed mercy, gifting rewards to those immortal beings who worked tirelessly to make the Immortal Realm a more wondrous place.
Although conflicts erupted, grudges between forces clashed, and battles destroyed the surroundings, the immortals who lived in each domain would ultimately join hands to deal with the aftermath and restore the environment.
They believed that as long as they treated nature with respect and care, they would, in turn, be loved by nature.
Shenlian Yingyue and her companions, who had learned of this belief, nodded in appreciation. No wonder they could become immortals; their mindsets and methods of dealing with the world were aligned with the will of nature itself.
After everyone realized that it was almost time for the treasures to emerge, they all left the region of the Glass Lizards, ignoring the messy traces of the battle that had taken place there.
None of them cared for the Sunfire Crystals anymore. They could always return to claim them later.
After all the forces were gone, Shenlian Yingyue’s figure appeared.
"There are traitors in our clan!" the Glass Lizard Ancestor’s tone carried intense rage, a fury ready to be unleashed at any moment.
"I know," Shenlian Yingyue replied calmly with a nod.
Everyone in the Glass Lizard clan was stunned.
