Chapter 200: Chapter 193: Resolute Part 1

Lin Xin named the secret technique Nine Luo Technique, which could temporarily stimulate the potential of the body. Lin Luo had tested it a few times and found it incredibly compatible after use.

Time passed, and several days went by in the blink of an eye.

Hundreds of people had spent a few days under the vast shade of trees, and their supplies were quickly running low.

Lin Xin had not yet received instructions from Hua Yunu and others, but he saw them frequently entering and leaving the camp, their expressions growing increasingly hurried, seemingly puzzled as well.

Hua Lin occasionally came to have casual chats with Lin Xin and revealed that they hadn’t found the Beast Tamers they were supposed to encircle.

If they couldn’t find the target within a few more days and ran out of supplies, they would have no choice but to turn back earlier than planned.

Unlike the leaders, there was a subtle sense of relief among the team members.

Especially the cultivators from the inner territories, each of them appeared relaxed, their previously tense faces now adorned with smiles.

It was not until the tenth day.

Lin Xin was in the cabin, watching Lin Luo and Ouyang Fei playing chess, holding a cup of clear tea and sipping slowly. Suddenly, the cabin door was slammed open.

"Brother!" Dongyue rushed in urgently, a look of anxiety on his face.

Lin Luo and the others already recognized this guy and weren’t surprised, continuing their chess game.

Lin Xin gestured for them to continue and stood up to go out with Dongyue.

"Come with me."

The two of them left the camp, one after the other, and stopped under a cluster of dense branches and leaves.

"Speak, what brings you running back here? Have you made a decision?" Lin Xin asked indifferently.

Dongyue bit his lip, his eyes a bit reddened.

"I... I sneaked a look... he has been adding a lot... a lot..." As he spoke, he couldn’t help but retch.

"Those not of our kind surely have a different heart," Lin Xin shook his head, "She definitely has a plot against you. As far as I know, ever since Beast Tamers appeared, there hasn’t been any record of them mingling with humans."

"Beast Tamers are cold-blooded and cruel creatures, they are not human, hence it’s impossible that they could truly fall in love with you."

"Then... what should I do?" Dongyue looked utterly distraught.

"What should you do? Leaving early is the righteous path... wait a moment." Lin Xin slightly narrowed his eyes, "Do you know what her cultivation level is?"

"I don’t know... but it must be no less than the Foundation Establishment Stage, I saw her flying without relying on magic artifacts," Dongyue replied quickly.

"If that’s the case..." Lin Xin narrowed his eyes, "If you’re not afraid, you can cooperate with me to place this object in her daily food and drink."

He reached into his Storage Bag and took out a pearl-like, milky-white spherical object the size of a fingernail.

"What is this?" Dongyue blurted out in astonishment.

"This is a high-level extermination pill I acquired, which contains seventeen kinds of extremely precious extermination medicines tailored for Beast Tamers. I spent a hefty sum when I acquired it," Lin Xin communicated telepathically.

"This..." Dongyue hesitated for a moment, then began to hesitate.

"If you feed her this, if she truly is a Beast Tamer, once she ingests it, she will definitely be controlled by others. If she isn’t, this pill won’t have much effect, and at most, she’ll just be weak for a few days," Lin Xin said solemnly, "Consider this for yourself."

As Dongyue recalled the scene he witnessed earlier, Jing’er was actually extracting pus from a deep pit filled with a mass of rotting corpses, using it to make the medicinal waters he drank and bathed in, his throat retched again.

But remembering the kindness Jing’er had shown him before, he began to hesitate again.

Lin Xin, however, thought that if he personally killed the Beast Tamer quietly, such a creature capable of opposing many Foundation Establishment Stage cultivators, if slain by his sword, might yield more cultivation benefits.

With a hint of selfishness in his heart, and also considering Dongyue’s well-being, not wanting to see him misled, he continued to persuade.

"Beast Tamers are cruel and treacherous. You cannot possibly last long with her. In the Outer Regions, where every day is a struggle between life and death, how likely is it that a creature born from such an environment would truly fall in love with you, an ordinary disciple from a Sect?"

"If you still wish to live in the Mortal Realm, you must decisively break off this connection, otherwise, you will end up against tens of thousands!"

Dongyue’s originally struggling expression gradually firmed up under Lin Xin’s persuasion.

"I still can’t believe she’s a Beast Tamer," he still harbored a sliver of illusion.

"Regardless of belief, administer the pill to her. If she is a Beast Tamer, she will lose her cultivation, and I will personally come over to help you sever ties and eliminate a menace for the people. If she isn’t, the pill won’t cause her much harm," Lin Xin said softly. "Don’t worry. When the time comes, I will be with you. If we succeed and her behavior is exposed, act decisively."

Seeing the pain in Dongyue’s eyes, Lin Xin understood that a brief pain was better than a prolonged one. Whether or not there was true affection between them, his actions were also to prevent Dongyue from encountering another tragedy.

In such a tragic romance, whether the other party truly had feelings didn’t matter anymore.

Clutching the high-level extermination pill, Dongyue carefully placed it in his sleeve.

"If... if it’s successful, how should I notify you?"

"When the time comes, just break this item," Lin Xin handed him a green bamboo dragonfly-like gadget.

"I understand," Dongyue took the item, looked at it, and replied softly.

"It’s good that you understand. Do not be deceived by her facade, she definitely has intentions for rescuing you, don’t be softhearted," Lin Xin patted his shoulder.

"I... I know," Dongyue’s voice was soft, his parents were renowned cultivators of an Orthodox Sect, and the wisdom of generations in his family could not be ruined by his own hands.

Recalling the scene he had seen earlier, Lin Xin felt a sudden firmness in his heart.

"When?"

"The day after tomorrow... I will make my move the day after tomorrow," Dongyue whispered.

"Good..."

After seeing Dongyue off, Lin Xin stood in the shadows, gripping the hilt of the Red Flower Sword once more. The Yin Mantuo began to beat violently again, as if ready to unsheathe itself at any moment.

"For the Red Flower Sword to be so excited by an insect master..." His brows furrowed tightly, and he had an inkling that this might be his chance.

Over the years, even in the secluded manor, killing disciples at the Foundation Establishment Stage had ceased to yield significant benefits, and his cultivation had slowed down increasingly. If it weren’t for the general slaughter enabled by Pudu Life, Lin Xin would never imagine overcoming the incessant illusions.

"Hopefully, this time will bring good fortune..." Clutching the sword hilt and suppressing the excitement of the Yin Mantuo with his Spiritual Energy, Lin Xin turned and walked toward the camp.

Somewhere in the Giant Tree Forest.

A woman in black, with four dragonfly-like wings on her back, was flapping them rapidly, propelling her forward through the air.

The twisting, dense forest before her was like a broad avenue, completely unobstructed, as though she had traveled this route thousands of times.

After flying for an unknown duration,

the four-winged woman slowly decelerated and came to a stop in a clearing amid the trees.

"Fedora... you’re really still here!" She delicately sniffed the air, revealing a shocked expression and unexpectedly speaking in the language of specters.

"Ge’er, you shouldn’t have come back. It’s very dangerous here now. My brother, the Beetle King, has been looking for us..." A dark figure emerged from the shadows of the woods, and it was none other than Jing’er, who had been living with Dongyue.

"If I hadn’t heard that you were still here, I wouldn’t have come specifically to find you. Those lowly, lower-class bugs are gathering a large force to hunt us down. Several of our sisters and brothers have already met with disaster. I’ve come specially to warn you that those Sect insects have found us. If you don’t leave now..." the four-winged woman said urgently.

"I know," Jing’er interrupted softly. "It’s just... I still have something little left to do... I can’t leave just yet..."

"What could possibly be more important than your life?!" the four-winged woman looked at her incredulously, "You can’t be... you can’t really be like the rumors say, staying in this Giant Tree Forest looking for medicine for a human?!"

Jing’er, at a loss for words, turned her head and did not answer.

"You’re mad!" the four-winged woman exclaimed in shock.

"I know what I’m doing," said Jing’er sternly. "Thank you for coming to warn me. Go back, please go back. I just need to prepare a few more medications, and then I’ll leave."

"But you..."

"Don’t worry, I’ll be fine..."

Jing’er cut her off.

In a wooden hut in the forest.

Dongyue quietly tended to the fire, simmering a pot of mushroom deer meat soup.

White steam continuously wafted from the pot, spreading out and brushing his face.

"Yue’er, you should go out less these days. Some bad people have come, and it would be troublesome if you ran into them," Jing’er said as she stepped out of the house, holding a bowl of greenish soup.

"Yeah, I’ll just wander around the usual places. I saw those people, but I didn’t go near them," Dongyue said naturally with a smile.

"Here, this is your Myriad Thousand Souls Water. Continue to drink it a few more times, and you will be fully healed. Then we can leave here and won’t have to stay put anymore," Jing’er said with a beaming smile as she handed over the medicinal soup.

Dongyue naturally accepted the bowl, aware that Jing’er was watching him intently.

"Why are you looking at me?"

As he raised the bowl to his lips, he also felt a slight tremor in his heart.

Before he knew what this substance was, it hadn’t bothered him much; but now knowing that the water was made from the pus that leached from rotting corpses, a wave of nausea swept over him.

However, since Jing’er was right beside him, he couldn’t just refuse to drink, lest she suspect something was wrong.

"What’s wrong?" Seeing him hold the medicinal soup to his lips but hesitating to drink, Jing’er grew puzzled. "Is it becoming too much for you? Should I add some sugar?"

"No... It’s nothing, just that I might be a bit full..."

Dongyue replied with a smile, indirectly lying. After all, having been in the Sect for many years, deception had become an instinct; most people would not notice anything amiss.

"But the medicine must be taken," Jing’er said as she tidied her hair softly by her face.

"Yes..." Suppressing his nausea, Dongyue drank all of the soup in the bowl in one go.

Since he had already consumed so much of it, he did not care about one more bowl.

After he drank it all, Jing’er, feeling reassured, went back inside to start packing her belongings.

Listening to the sounds from inside, Dongyue continued to squat by the pot, holding back his nausea as he reached out to stir continuously with a spoon. Meanwhile, from his sleeve silently rolled out a high-level Extinction Pill, which landed on a piece of fungus in the pot before rolling into the broth. In the blink of an eye, it dissolved into the juice, becoming invisible.
