Chapter 112: Chapter 109 Inquiry - Part One

Clang!

His entire body violently shuddered, and Lin Xin only saw the inner wall of his Spiritual Light Shield instantly dent inward, crack, and then shatter into countless fragments of white light.

He met the attack with his Solar Yang Talisman Sword and Luminous Talisman Sword, desperately blocking in front of the slashing blade of white light.

Without time to think further, Lin Xin only felt a roaring in his ears, his whole body numb, and in an instant, he could see nothing, hear nothing.

Both Talisman Swords snapped and broke at the same time, red and gold flames exploding around him. His vision blurred, then turned into a vast expanse of whiteness as he was briefly blinded.

Lin Xin, guided by his memory of the surroundings, lunged to the left, rolled several times, and activated the Heaven Soaring Cloud Technique. His body lightened and, to his surprise, he managed to rush forward, skimming along the ground.

He groped with his hands and, sure enough, grabbed onto something hard, putting it up as another block.

Clang!

Another sharp sound, and Lin Xin spat out a mouthful of blood as he was violently slashed and thrown far away.

"You... despicable dwarfs!"

The voice that had spoken previously rang out again, the tone laced with a touch of disgust.

"Die!"

Lin Xin’s hearing had by then recovered, and hearing the voice, he hurriedly rolled trying to dodge.

But the sound of the curved blade followed, changing direction. He rolled several times and still couldn’t shake off the cutting wind of the blade.

Lin Xin simply drew the three remaining Luminous Talisman Swords from behind him, grabbed them in one hand, and fiercely threw them at the blade wind.

Boom!

An explosion roared, and Lin Xin felt as if he’d been struck by an elephant; he was blasted into a tumbling flight, unable to even spit out blood from his mouth.

In mid-air, he hurriedly gripped the hard metal object in his hand, fiercely infusing his Inner Qi.

This time, his ears went deaf again, and his eyes could hardly make out anything. Without the protection of the Spiritual Light Shield, his body was torn apart by the blast, and not even the pure force of the rebound was bearable.

Lin Xin strained to open his eyes but could only see a blurry dark shadow charging towards him swiftly; in his deafened ears, he faintly heard the angry roars of the man with the curved sword.

Thump.

He felt as though he was thrown into mid-air, then fell into a wooden box.

In agonizing pain, Lin Xin propped himself up, groping around inside the box.

The first thing he touched was a body sitting upright. Then the closed carriage, the familiar faint smell of decaying death...

"Indeed, I’m back..." Lin Xin’s heart relaxed, unable to hold on any longer, he passed out.

**************

On the wastelands.

A tall bearded elder with a white beard pointed his hand, and the curved blade flew back to him from afar.

His face turned ashen as he stared at the distant sky.

"Invisible? Impossible! A mere novice in Qi Cultivation, how could he have the ability to turn invisible before me and go undetected?"

He fiddled with the numerous red pouches tied around his waist, pulled out a small book from one, and flipping through it, browsed a few pages.

"Not the Spirit Flash Step either... Strange, strange... How could a living person just disappear into thin air?" He frowned, utterly puzzled.

"Moreover, that dwarf’s body is even harder than metal; my blade would have left any other person’s flesh torn to pieces even if the attack was blocked. And yet, this kid was unharmed..."

Sheathing the curved blade, he scanned the surroundings again, but still found no abnormalities. He picked up a fallen bundle from the ground, stuffed the scattered items back into it, and walked toward another part of the grassland.

There lay another tall person, his body a blur of blood and flesh, the unfortunate victim of a blast caused by one of the Luminous Talisman Swords. He was barely alive, his eyes wide open with resentment.

"If there’s an opportunity, I will avenge you!"

The elder spoke coldly.

Only then did the man exhale his last breath.

"Tha... thank you..."

And he completely ceased to breathe.

Spirit Heart Villa

Ugh.

Lin Xin abruptly sat up in bed, his hand covering his mouth as blood sprayed out, streaming down between his fingers.

He got out of bed, staggering to the basin, and spat again.

Splatter...

"Xin Brother!!" Xiao Lingling had been awakened by his commotion, and sitting up groggily, upon seeing him spit out blood, she was immediately shocked and fearful.

"Xin Brother, what’s wrong with you!!??"

She hurried out of bed and ran to Lin Xin’s side.

"It’s... it’s nothing..." Lin Xin didn’t want to worry her, gesturing with his hand, "I was just a bit too eager with my training these last few days, got ahead of myself, and misdirected my Qi. This is just old stagnant blood. Once I spit it out, I’ll be fine..."

Before he could finish, another mouthful of blood sprayed out, turning the entire basin red.

"This isn’t just ’old blood,’ this... this...." Xiao Lingling became frantic.

"Don’t worry, it’s nothing... I said I’m fine, and I will be fine." Lin Xin felt much lighter after spitting out a few more mouthfuls of blood.

He found the first aid kit in the room. It was a small wooden box he had fashioned himself, an old habit, and inside were various medicines, powders, and pills for stopping blood and emergency treatment.

Opening the medical kit, he took a pill of Lifesaving Pill with a glass of water that Xiao Lingling had poured for him. Then he took out a small bottle of blue medicine oil, dribbled out a bit, and applied it to the back of his neck.

He stood still and regulated his breathing slowly, and after a while, he finally began to recover.

"I’m really okay; it was just an accident during practice. This experience is a lesson; it definitely won’t happen again," Lin Xin reassured as he opened his eyes to see Xiao Lingling’s concerned look, whispering gently to her.

Xiao Lingling could tell he didn’t want to talk about it and didn’t press him, simply nodding weakly.

"It’s a good thing your lordship is always prepared with emergency medicines," she said softly.

"Don’t worry, I told you it’s nothing..."

Lin Xin comforted her, moving closer to wrap her gently in his arms.
