Chapter 80: Screams of her Heart
Chapter 80: Screams of her Heart
"Why? I am just concerned," Leander said.
He tried to look at her, but she pressed her hand over his eyes. She didn’t squeeze his eyeballs but covered his eyes.
"Don’t, anyway..." she said.
"Why?" he asked. "Why can’t I look at you?"
His lips curled out of displeasure. But as if he was trying to respect her wishes, he endured her hands on his face.
"I don’t want your pity, Kastello..." she said sucking in a deep breath along with her emotions. "If you truly are concerned about me, I have only one request for you."
Kastello...
She had to remind herself who he is.
"What?" Leander removed her hand from his face in a hurry to look at her. He blinked his eyes as his vision was blurry. "You’re back to calling me Kastello?" he raised his brows.
He looked displeased and sad.
Of everything that happened... this is what he is worried about? About how I am addressing him?
"Isn’t your name Kastello?" she asked.
Not wanting to get sucked into his eyes, she turned her face.
Yes, he is Kastello. Someone she must hate.
"Look at me!" his voice was stern, and yet was shaking.
Pressing her lips, she held her urges to look at him.
"Mousy, look at me..." His voice was nasal, yet he tried to be commanding.
She looked at him unable to bear his painful voice. "What?" she asked and seeing his reddened eyes, started to cry.
What was she sad about?
She was not sad about herself, that’s for sure. But she didn’t want to look at him.
"Is it hurting again...? Don’t cry. It’s okay...It’s going to be okay..." he said softly patting her back.
Viviana’s eyes watered. He was warm, and she wanted to stay in his embrace forever.
But she cannot.
She started to sob. "What do you want from me? Why are you acting as if you..." she didn’t want to say "love". That word only brings her hurt. "Why are you asking me for something I don’t have!"
"What don’t you have?" he asked.
His voice was laced with impatience. He does not know the thoughts running rampant in her head.
If she looked at him, she would have seen that he got impatient unable to bear her pain. But she interpreted it as he was showing his true emotions. He loves to get angry at her all the time, after all.
"How many times should I tell you?" she shouted pounding his chest with her fisted hand. "Should you mock me once more? Fine!" She screamed, the emotions she tried to control getting all mushed up and bursting out.
Wrongly, perhaps. But what else can she do? Who else does she have to listen to her? Even when the hand around her is soothing her and the chest she leans on gives her a place to rest her head, what will she do when she feels undeserved?
She never was a beautiful lily that bloomed on the top of the hill. She never had an easy life. She was the lily that bloomed among the thorns- thrown to the thorns in a sense. Even the woman who gave birth to her didn’t want her. She’s been pricked and prodded all her life, surviving amidst pain.
And when one of the biggest thorns that hurt her turned out to be her only resting place, how could she let her heart rest?
What is real?
The Kastello family that took everything from her? Or the youngest Kastello who is comforting her? She couldn’t say.
One thing she was sure of.
"I’m barren! Infertile! Useless! Haha! It’s funny! I’m disposable! Laugh at me, Kastello! You can have your revenge! Call me~"
"Don’t!" he pressed his lips on hers and pushed her onto the bed.
Viviana tried to push him back, but he didn’t stop kissing her. He was on top of her, not resting his weight on her, but his kisses were passionate and intense. She tried to bite his lips or tongue or whatever she could get a hold on to. But that only increased his passion and the intensity of the kisses doubled.
"Stop it!" she said when she got the chance. By then he had already let her go to take a breath. "don’t kiss me as if that means anything..."
He let go of her but not before he pinned her down. "Let go!" She tried to struggle out of his hold, but he kissed her once more. He only let go of her when she stopped struggling.
"I’ll kiss you whenever I want to shut your mouth," he said running his finger over her lips wet with his kisses. "So, stop saying what I don’t want to hear, wife!" He stressed ’wife’
Viviana’s eyes clouded.
Wife, he says. Does he even know what that word means?
Does he know what marriage means?
What is he going to do with a "wife" who cannot love him or give him an heir?
What will he do when his grandfather asks him to get rid of his "wife"? That day sure will come. Peter sure will find out about her infertility.
*Knock* *Knock*
Viviana slipped out of his embrace hearing the door knock.
"Wipe your face. I don’t want them to think that I was hurting you," Leander told her as he fixed his shirt.
Viviana did as she was told.
He ran his fingers through her hair to settle the mess. She slapped his hand away, but he didn’t mind her resistance and fixed her hair. Holding her cheeks, he looked into her eyes. She looked away.
"You are my wife," he said, again.
For her it seemed like some words he likes to say to maybe show his dominance over her, or... even if he considers her as his wife, she didn’t think that it would mean much to him.
She never thought that she is worthy of that title. And a man of Leander’s disposition has no need to consider her as his wife. Also, judging by his family’s culture, "wife" or "marriage" doesn’t mean much.
"Whatever..."
She bowed her head.
