Chapter 75: Door to Your Heart
Viviana caught herself smiling for no reason that day.
Whenever she looked at her hand, she couldn’t help but remember Leander’s hands around her hand and ended up smiling.
The top she was wearing exposed her shoulders and neck, and she noticed the hickeys on her neck. He kissed her a lot there last night. That brought a smile to her face.
She opted to change the top and when she looked in the mirror, she couldn’t help but smile looking at her body. Her finger trailed along the spots where he touched her. She smiled.
She never considered herself beautiful, not by a long shot. But right then, she didn’t look that awful. When she remembered how gently he held her, a bewitching smile graced her face.
I’m beautiful!
Holding her cheeks, she blushed as she looked in the mirror. She felt feminine, she felt like floating. She’s never spent that much time in front of the mirror, but she felt like looking at the mirror the whole time.
All she missed was music. She used to love listening to music and singing along. It’s been a while since she’s done that. She missed it.
The makeup products she used last night were still on the vanity. She sat on the seat wondering if she should apply makeup on her face. She felt like it.
When she looked at the products, she remembered all the questions Leander has for her last night. Her lips curved into a smile. He did sit there silently letting her apply lipstick on his lips.
His lips were very soft...
Her finger gently caressed her lips. Her lips parted and her eyes closed as she recalled the feelings of his lips on hers.
But he was hurt in his lips...
’My grandpa hit me...’
She remembered his soft voice that had a manly charm. And so returned her memories of the Rose Gardens.
The smile on her face faded away only for her to be left with a frown as reality hit her.
"What were you thinking?" she hit her forehead with the palm of her hand. "How did you forget, stupid!"
How can she forget who she is and the man she was with yesterday?
She’s the one who wants the destruction of his family. How can she lose herself like this?
All for a tattoo she doesn’t know the meaning of! How much more pathetic can she get?
She went to the bed and sat hugging her legs. Yesterday was dream-like. Her far-fetched dream that bordered on delusion came true last night.
But it is time she steps back to reality.
She is like Cinderella. Her midnight has come. She should return to being who she is. The prince is not going to search for her. She didn’t leave a shoe for him. She was the one who openly challenged the destruction of his family. All she left was hate in his heart.
How did she even expect him to... what? What was she expecting?
All those giggling and smiling... what was that feeling?
Love?
Pathetic!
Does she even want love from Kastello? Was she falling for the man whose family plucked everything from her hand and burned them right in front of her eyes?
She didn’t even feel like crying.
But the tattoo...
She buried her face in her knees and took in a deep breath. They say the mind is a powerful weapon that could overcome anything. But how powerful is mind against heart? Very few can overcome their heart to submit to their mind.
She never was someone who let her mind rule her actions. Well, she tried for the past two years and all she was left with was bitterness and unhappiness.
She’s someone who is happy following her heart.
His smile, his gentle caresses, the way he nestled on her chest enjoying her fingers on his hair...
These feelings were novel for her, and they were addicting. She wanted to feel that way all her life.
She took in a deep breath. The war between her heart and mind was raging. What could she do?
Maybe... maybe there is a chance that he feels the same as her too?
For a moment, the heart had the upper hand. Her eyes ended up at the door. The door that keeps her locked in this room...
She made a bet in her heart.
If that door was unlocked, then she can say that Leander might feel the same as her. That tattoo might be a fragmented memory of her that he wanted to protect close to his heart.
If he liked her enough, she won’t be the prisoner anymore. He would have left the door unlocked.
Her heart thumped. For a moment, she didn’t want to go through this stupid made-up test.
And that’s when she knew what her heart wants.
Leander...
But no! It can’t be. It must be the remnants of the hormones and the bonding created by the intimacy they shared last night.
Taking in a deep breath, she walked to the door. She must be the only one feeling this way. Leander’s feelings would still be the same. The locked door would be the proof of that.
She paused holding the knob of the door. She almost walked away, but gritting her teeth, she turned the knob. It’s better to rip off the bandage.
*Click*
The door was locked.
"I knew it..." she let out a deep breath tricking herself to feel relieved.
But she couldn’t convince her heart. Tears rolled down her eyes and she slid down to the floor hugging herself.
After crying for some time, she stood up wiping her face. She had no reason to cry. Even if she liked Leander, he’s going to end up like every person she liked ended up—burnt!
And what was she expecting? She does not deserve love from any man. How did she forget that she is barren? Leander mocked her for it.
How did you even expect that he would fall for you, Melanie? You and your grand expectations! Have we not learned enough all our life? We deserve nothing good!

Leander returned straight to the Orchid Gardens. After talking to his grandfather frankly, he felt so relieved. His grandfather understood him as he expected.
’I wannbe that guy~ I wanna kiss your eyes ~ I wanna drink that smile~’
The music played in the car. "Turn on the volume," Leander asked the driver before he switched the station. He didn’t know why he finds Ed Sheeran’s song lovely.
The driver was surprised by him. So was Steve. But Leander didn’t care.
Leander replied to Lionel that he will meet him the next day. He wanted to get back home, to her.
He walked up the stairs skipping three stairs, humming. He took in a deep breath placing his hand on the knob. What reaction will she have to see him?
He furrowed his brows to see the door locked from outside.
"Katerina, I asked you not to lock the door anymore," he said.
Katerina apologized and told him that she did it out of habit.
"It’s fine," Leander smiled. "Don’t lock it anymore."
