Chapter 376: A Crown That Won’t Wither
Chapter 376: A Crown That Won’t Wither
Viviana’s heart started to pound hearing the word "date". Ever since he returned, they didn’t do anything much outside as they preferred to stay in their bedroom, on the bed.
She was excited to see where he was going to take her. His decision to leave Ziya with her family only piqued her interest. She couldn’t keep mum as she thought of various romantic possibilities. Her every thought had a climax of her ending up on the bed with him on top though.
She couldn’t hold her excitement.
"Where are we going?" Viviana asked.
"Leo..."
"Leo..."
"Leeeooo..."
"Leon!"
"Leon Michaels!!!"
No matter how she asked, Leander didn’t answer her. He just smiled mysteriously. His magnetic eyes shone with a mystical glimmer. Viviana could say that he had put serious efforts into it as she saw his calm demeanor. He stood firm like a mountain.
She stopped nagging him and looked out at the window. She realized that they were going in the direction of Abenney. With her mouth agape, she looked at him.
"You are smiling," she said.
Folding his hands, he leaned back on the seat without looking at her.
"I can see your smile!" she pinched his arm.
He sat there like a statue, unmoving. Viviana leaned on his arm. The day she met him, she thought he looked like a statue too.
"Leo..."
She called him. He didn’t answer.
"I love you..." she said.
The big stone statue melted into a puddle upon hearing that. He held her hand and kissed it with a smile.
"Love you too, Lemon."
------
Holding his hand, Viviana walked carelessly on the beach. This was the same beach she carelessly wandered around back when she was a child. Yet, she didn’t have the guts to come here.
She looked around; everything looked familiar even the distinct rocks in the sea. She was on the beach of Abenney, just under the cliff where the Church was.
Her hair waved in the breeze and she fixed them to her best efforts. The beach should have lifted her spirit but oddly, it did the opposite. Seeing the crabs peeking out of their holes, her heart squeezed.
Back then, Leona was with her.
That day when she thought she was dying when she took the bullet for Leander, she came to this place in her dreams. It was a weird dream and yet it stayed in her memory. It was a mixture of her memory of the last day she spent with Leona and Leander along with something else. She couldn’t discern what was the truth and what was not.
She remembered one thing clearly. Leona wanted to tell her something. And that day, she was jealous. She didn’t like to see Leona getting along with Leander.
And here she is...with Leander.
Thinking about it made her heart squeeze.
The smile on her face disappeared. Once again, she’s been thinking about Leona when she was with Leander. She tried not to think about Leona so much, but she failed once again.
The scent of wildflowers played a soothing melody grabbing her attention. She looked to the side and saw the white and yellow flowers on the side.
Once again, she failed as she remembered the beautiful crown of flowers Leona made for her that day.
Accept this now, Melanie. I will one day give you a crown that won’t wither.
Viviana still remembered the smile on Leona’s face. She also said many weird things. She told her that there was a lot she could not tell her because she wouldn’t be able to understand it all. She also said that they had all the time in the world.
When you end up in my arms, you’ll be mine forever. No one can stop me.
Her eyes unconsciously ended at Leander.
Was he right? Was Leona in love with me?
Viviana bit her lips. She tried to not think of that possibility.
But what if Leander was right?
This is wrong... This is so wrong... Leander was there with me that day too and yet I...Why am I thinking about Leona?
Before she knew it, the corners of her eyes got wet. This was the reason she avoided coming back to this beach. She heard the sound of the bells from the Church about the cliff. Yet this time, it only accentuated her guilt.
"Wait here for a moment," Leander told her.
Viviana quickly brought back her smile and nodded. She watched Leander’s back disappearing in the distance. She sat by the shore letting the waves touch her feet. She noticed that there was no one else on the beach. That was impossible because this would be the most crowded beach in Abenney for the views and the ambiance.
How come it is empty at this time?
Viviana could conclude that Leander must be planning on doing something. He must have gotten special permission to surprise her.
Hugging her knees, she let out a deep breath. Her husband is thinking of her all the time and here she is...
She couldn’t think of Leander Kastello she was with that day and she couldn’t stop thinking about Leona. She felt like she was cheating.
As she was sulking, something dropped on her back. Before she could react, someone grabbed her dress and put something inside her dress. That critter crawled on her back.
She stood up with a yelp and tried to get the crab out of her dress. While she was struggling, she heard Leander’s laugh. Leander was standing with a crab in his hand and just as she turned, he tried to throw it into her dress. She managed to escape his next attack and got rid of the crab in her dress finally.
"Have you ever been bit by a crab, city boy?" Viviana lunged at Leander. "Their claws hurt like hell!"
Leander screamed like a little girl and ran away from her. Viviana chased him with all her might. She couldn’t run as fast as him in the grainy sand and she ended up falling on her face as her feet got trapped in the sand.
Leander stopped and looked at her. She thought he would help her up but he ran away shaking his back. Viviana gritted her teeth and chased him.
"I am going to kill you, Leo!!"
Leander disappeared behind a small sand dune. Gasping for breath, Viviana walked to the dune.
"Stop, Leo... I cannot..."
She knelt on the sand as she couldn’t even take a step forward. While panting, she hoped he had heard her. She was exhausted. But when she heard the sound of footsteps on the sand, her lips curved to a smirk.
Let’s see how you’re going to handle sand in your underpants, Leo!
She casually picked some sand in her hand as she waited for him. The scent of the wildflowers intensified as the breeze brought the scent to her. Just like that, she stopped thinking about the past as a new wonderful memory was made in the same place.
She saw Leander’s head first and she fisted her hand closely. "Ah, Leo... I cannot brea~"
The smile she was trying to hide disappeared seeing the glittering jewel on Leander’s hand. After his return, he didn’t like wearing his jewelry. But he was holding something remarkably shimmery and large in his hand.
What is it?
Her hands went cold when she figured out what he was having in his hand. She dropped the sand she held in her hand and observed Leander.
"Get up," he gave her his hand.
Viviana shook her head. She didn’t think she could get up.
Leander let out a deep breath. The wind had ruffled his hair just like the day she met him on the rooftop. But unlike that day, she saw a bright smile on his face.
He knelt in front of her. Since he was taller than her and he was at a higher elevation than her, she had to look up at him.
"A tiara?" she asked looking at the jewel in his hand.
The design was intricate. Lemon flowers were exquisitely made in the design and beautiful gems were set taking the design up a notch. In the setting light of the romantic sun, the precious gems in the tiara glittered spectacularly. An array of colors reflected on his majestic face as he held it.
It should have only reminded her of her husband calling her Lemon.
But for a second, she saw the simple crown made of wildflowers in his hand.
She shook her head. Her chest hurt with guilt.
Why am I like this?
"Melanie..."
The magnetic voice that mesmerized her entire being, snapped her out of her reverie and she looked at him.
"You ended up in my arms, and you are mine forever..." he smiled. His lips trembled and his eyebrows twitched as he spoke. "And Melanie..." He lifted the tiara up and carefully placed it on her head.
"A crown that won’t wither...An Eternal Blossom for my beloved... Just like I promised..."
Viviana felt the tremble in his hands as he was still holding the tiara on her head.
What is happening? Why is he...
"Are you f’*cking kidding me?"
Viviana shouted at the top of her lungs. She got up pushing away his hand.
"Leander! This... This is too much... There’s a limit..." She pointed her shaking finger at him. "Even for you... It’s... It’s too much..."
