Chapter 363: [Bonus Chapter] Negotiation

Viviana sat on the bed and stared at the gap between the door and the floor to see if he had left. He didn’t leave for more than an hour.

After an hour, her father came and asked Leander to join him. Leander left with her father.

Viviana lay beside Ziya and stared at the door to see if he returned. But he didn’t. Martha knocked on the door a couple of times but she sent her off.

Vito, Leander, and Leonardo were all sitting in the patio with their preferred drink.

"That’s a nice bruise..."Leonardo said in a mocking tone.

"It is..." Leander smiled. He was not angry at her at all. It was better she showed her anger immediately. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been better if she decided to hide her anger.

By this time, she would have calmed down and feeling guilty for hitting him. She would be wondering how she could check on him without seeming too obvious.

"She’s not letting you in? She didn’t even treat your bruise?" Leonardo asked further. For some reason, he wanted to poke fun at that man who had failed in his love.

Why did it feel personal? He didn’t know. He just had a little pleasure in the deep corner of his heart seeing trouble between another couple. He didn’t feel like he had the energy to handle the lovey-doveyness of a couple in front of him right now. He was not in the mood.

Leander shrugged. "She will. Soon."

He was not worried. He knew his little Lemon wouldn’t stay away from him for long. Even looking at her warmed his body so much that it was uncomfortable sitting here when he knew she was just at arm’s reach. He should be near her—inside her.

But it is fine. He knew it wouldn’t be just him who felt this way. She would be feeling it too. And she will let go of her anger pretty soon.

They both have missed each other for so long.

Leander cleared his throat. Even thinking about her made his blood rush to his lower abdomen. He wanted to bury his face in her chest and sink into her to hear her wonderful moans. He cannot lose his self-control now. He is with his in-laws.

"I am grateful for taking care of her for the past year, Mr. Vitale. I thank you too, Leonardo," Leander started with a word of gratitude.

He wouldn’t have been able to finish what eh started without their help. Knowing that his wife is safe with them, helped him greatly in achieving his goal.

"You can call me just Vito or... Dad if you prefer to..." Vito said.

Leander smiled. "Thank you, Dad." He didn’t have any qualms about calling his wife’s father "Dad". Isn’t that the usual custom? Even if it wasn’t, he didn’t care. He respected Vito and since his wife loves her father, he will do that to make her happy.

He observed Leonardo’s reaction. He appeared to blank out at times but he didn’t see Leonardo reacting negatively to him calling his father as Dad. He heard that Leonardo and Viviana got along well and Leonardo took great care of her in his absence.

"You’re looking good. It’s good. What are you planning now?" Vito asked.

"I’ll be Leon Michaels—the new money guy who got rich by crypto and invests money in everything, mostly movies. I want to get married to her properly this time. I want your blessing for~"

"Wouldn’t you need her permission first?" Leonardo interjected.

Again, he felt sour. Why should they get married twice? There are people who are unable to get married at least once. Is he rubbing it in my face?

"Leonardo!" Vito chided his son.

Leonardo rolled his eyes.

"You have my blessing for my daughter’s hand in marriage. You’ve proven yourself to be worthy," Vito said. "I shall walk her down the aisle and hand her over to you."

"Of course," Leander agreed. "That’s a given. The wedding will be at St. Michael’s Church, Abenney. We can plan the wedding parties according to our convenience," he said.

Vito nodded. He didn’t care much about that. Since the chance presented itself, he wanted to use it for something that’s been nagging him for a while. "It’s a tradition in our country to contract a marriage at the engagement party. Before that, we should reach an agreement on the dowry."

Leander’s first instinct was to refuse. His wife would kill him if she learned that he asked for a dowry. He doesn’t need a dowry. She is his biggest gift. She doesn’t need dowry either. She has a big business that can sustain her. But he thought about it for a moment.

"I want the Vitale oil rig you have in the Mediterranean and the private island you have near Greece," Leander asked.

Vito couldn’t contain his grin as he was happy. His daughter refuses everything and now he could give her something.

Leander looked at Leonardo’s reaction. "The oil rig in the Indian Ocean is the most profitable one. You don’t want that?" he asked Leander. He was excited. He then turned to Vito. "Dad, we should give her one of those ski resorts too, don’t you think?"

Leander smiled. These men truly pamper her. They love her so much. It made his heart warm.

"I do not want that because that was the first oil rig your father owned. You should have it. I want that other rig because everyone knows it as belonging to the Vitale family," Leander said.

Vito smiled in understanding and Leonardo nodded.

So, it’s not about the value. It’s about establishing the relationship they share as a family. He must know that Viviana is refusing her inheritance. But he wants her to have something that belongs to her father so that the relationship would continue for generations. If she gets something that is known to belong to the Vitale family as a dowry, people would know and talk about it for generations to come—that oil rig was a dowry given to his daughter by Vito Vitale.

That’s a good idea.

"I don’t want anything else. I have more than enough. Melanie has enough too," Leander added.

Leonardo didn’t know why they were discussing this without his sister’s presence. She wouldn’t be very cooperative. He saw his father’s happiness and decided to ignore his sister’s petty feelings. He figured Leander would convince her to accept the dowry. Maybe in the future, she would be convinced to accept her inheritance too.

Just as he was speaking, he saw someone walking at them. It was Martha and with her was...

Leander’s eyes widened as he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. His heart skipped a beat.

Is that really her?
