Chapter 361: Lovers Fight
Chapter 361: Lovers Fight
Viviana prepared to leave for Lemon Heights. Her dogs missed her and she was told Sugar was sick. The two cats are thick as thieves and since Sugar was sick, Cinnamon refused to eat too.
She needed to return. She’s grown attached to those soft, furry little beings. They missed Leander so much and ended up getting attached to her. She got over her fear of cats seeing those poor things. Leander’s cats were just sweet furballs and not scary at all.
She knocked on her father’s door to say goodbye. She could hear some disturbance downstairs. The staff were all discussing something, and they seemed gossipy. It didn’t seem like a dangerous situation, but everyone looked anxious. She didn’t fail to notice that some were looking at her.
Ignazio rushed to her father’s room, passing through the curious staff. He looked at her and opened his mouth to say something, but then he shook his head.
"Where is Leonardo?" Viviana asked. It was not like Ignazio to ignore her.
"I’m sorry. One moment, Princess," Ignazio didn’t even look at her and knocked on Vito’s room.
Viviana didn’t know what was going on. Is that a smile on Ignazio’s face?
Ignazio opened the door and just before Viviana stepped in, he closed the door.
What is going on?
Viviana got more curious. She took a look downstairs. Leonardo appeared to be talking to someone. She bent to take a look at who that was but at the same time, the door to her father’s bedroom opened.
"Principessa! You’re right on time!" Vito patted her back. "Come with me."
"Okay..." Viviana furrowed her brows. It all seemed so...
"Where is the little one?" Vito asked.
"She’s in her room with Martha. Should I bring her?" Viviana asked, helping her father down the stairs.
"No, it’s fine," Vito waved his hand.
Viviana turned her attention toward Leonardo. Who is this important guest that her father wants to welcome in person?
She took a peek outside. The staff were holding the door open for Vito. Leonardo was standing stiff with his hands inside his trousers. He was pressing his lips. She couldn’t say whether he was angry or happy. Maybe he sensed that she was behind him, he turned and looked at her. His face then lit up with a smile.
So, he is happy?
Viviana got more and more curious. She still couldn’t see who that was as a decorative bush and a pillar blocked her view. Just as they reached the door, Viviana noticed a familiar face.
Steve...
Viviana couldn’t say for sure if it was Steve. He had a beard and had long hair that touched his shoulders. At first glance she thought that was Seve but then she second guessed.
That bearded guy bowed his head the moment he met her eyes.
Steve? Is that Steve?
Vito sensed his daughter’s hand getting chilly and held her hand.
"I’m fine-dad," Viviana’s voice cracked as she spoke. She cleared her throat. "Is that...
No, that is Steve!
Before she knew it, she let go of her father’s hand and ran toward Leonardo.
If Steve is here, he must be here too...
Vito looked at his empty hand. It left an emptiness in his heart but seeing how she was rushing out, his lips curved to a smile. It’s only natural she runs to her husband.
Leonardo blocked the way with a goofy smile. After she said those stupid things, he’s been contemplating a lot. He wanted to get back at her for ruining his peace. "Say the password, Minerva. Pay the toll to the troll—and pay it with your very soul!" he said in a singsong manner.
Viviana had lost all her patience by then. "I’ll kill you. I’ll kill you, Leonardo! Move!" she gritted her teeth.
Her hands were shaking out of excitement. She missed him just some days back. She didn’t want to miss him today.
"Pay the toll to the troll," Leonardo repeated. "And pay it with your very soul!"
He chuckled.
"I’ll pay with your f*cking teeth!" Viviana fisted her hand and threw a punch at Leonardo.
Leonardo was not even a little bit fazed. He swiftly took a side step and Viviana missed hitting his face. It only made her madder and she swung her hands side to side hoping she would at least get one hit on him.
Vito tried to negotiate but both of his children didn’t even listen to him. He worried for Viviana. He didn’t care much for Leonardo. He shouldn’t have started this at this time.
Leonardo escaped her punches without even breaking a sweat. She’s not a fighter. He’s a trained boxer. It takes a lot to hit him. She doesn’t have that.
While Viviana was trying to punch Leonardo in the face, she heard that familiar laugh that she’d heard a million times in the quiet of the night—the laugh she missed for more than a year.
"Your strength still hasn’t matched your attitude, huh, Melanie?"
Viviana froze with her head bowed, hearing the deep vibrating voice that made her heart leap. She couldn’t even hold her fists anymore and she felt like there was something heavy on her shoulder that incapacitated her.
It’s his voice... It’s him...
Leonardo didn’t want to tease her anymore and stepped to the side.
Viviana’s eyes ended up on the shoes in front of her.
Burgundy shoes... he never owned burgundy shoes before.
"Minnie...Look at me..."
Viviana’s heart pounded and her eyes clouded.
He is here... My Leo is here...
She wiped the corner of her eyes and took a deep sniff. She didn’t care that she was looking pitiful. She wanted to look at his face. Her tears didn’t stop running.
"Look at you crying like a baby... Mousy, calm down. I’m here, aren’t I? Come to me..." Leander held out his hand.
"Mousy?" Leonardo repeated in a teasing tone as if he found out something that he could hold over her for the rest of their lives.
Viviana’s tears stopped just for a moment. She ignored her idiotic brother and took a peek at his face. He was smiling brightly.
Mousy... he called my Mousy...And he asks me to calm down after everything he put me through... Ha! And he is still smiling as if he hadn’t abandoned me for years...
*Bam*
She didn’t know where it came from—that right hook. Leander took a step back taking that punch.
"Minerva!" Leonardo took a step forward to stop her but Vito stopped him.
*Bam*
Another punch. This time the punch landed on his nose and Leander bowed down.
Vito held back Leonardo again. "Let her vent," he whispered. Vito understood what was going on there. Leander should have handled it differently. He should have started with an apology. Maybe Leander knows that he screwed up. That’s why he’s taking her punches.
"Who are you?" Viviana shouted. Her lips trembled and her nose flared. "Why should I come to you? You’re not my husband. I buried my husband!"
Viviana raised her hand to hit him again. Leander looked up and she ended up meeting his eyes. Those beautiful eyes that hold her heart...She couldn’t hit him again. She ran inside the house.
Leonardo couldn’t understand his idiotic sister. He worried for her. When everyone thought that he was dead, it was she who stood fast and said that he was alive. He thought that she would jump at him in joy. He didn’t expect she’d punch the guy she loved the most.
Now she made him mad! What will she do if he leaves her?
Vito was not fazed. He understood his daughter. She is indeed his blood. That anger...
Vito couldn’t help but smile. "Are you okay?" he patted Leander’s shoulder.
"Yeah, I’m..." Leander stood up. Blood leaked from his nostril and he wiped it off with his handkerchief. "She’s gotten stronger..." he smiled. "My lioness!"
Leonardo was more shocked. He thought Leander would definitely get mad at her for disrespecting him. Why is he smiling? She’s not a mouse anymore? She’s turned into a lioness?
Vito could only smile seeing his son’s puzzled look. Poor boy doesn’t know what it means to be in love. Fighting in love is in a way the best part. There is a great pleasure in cajoling and groveling in the feet of the woman a man loves. When she smiles at you after getting placated—that feeling is indescribable.
"Can I...pursue the lioness..." Leander asked Vito with a bow.
"Please," Vito showed him the door.
Leander walked in with a large gait.
Just as he got inside, Angelina got out. "What happened, Uncle? I heard Minerva shout. Is she okay?" she asked.
"She’s fine," Vito waved his hand.
"Who is that handsome man?" Angelina asked. "he was so..." She turned and looked at Leander’s back.
Leonardo furrowed his brows. "He’s Minerva’s husband," he said dryly.
Why is she staring at that guy?
Angelina looked at Leonardo. "Oh?" she turned again to look at Leander. "He is very handsome."
Leonardo fisted his hands.
