Chapter 344: Proof
Chapter 344: Proof
Leonardo controlled his anger. Just because he likes that sweet little munchkin, he had to go through all this. But he will do anything for Ziya. Thinking of Ziya, his anger subsided and he came to the point.
"What’s with you and four fingers?" Leonardo asked.
Martha’s heart skipped a beat. "Four fingers?"
"I mean... what’s his name...That security guy with only four fingers. He is a smart, loyal guy I had to... Ah, Nelson! Are you dating him?" Leonardo asked.
Martha gulped. Nelson is a nice guy. He’s working for the Vitale family for all his life. He has told her how Leonardo gave a hefty price to save him from an enemy gang as they hacked him with a butcher’s knife. That’s how he lost a finger from each hand and gained the name "four fingers".
After rescuing him, Leonardo himself made sure that the men who kidnapped him were skinned alive. He is a living testament of how much the Vitale family cares for their loyal servants.
And yes, she has some feelings for him. She found his devotion to the Vitale family sexy. She hasn’t worked out what kind of feelings those were yet.
She cannot decide on her own. She has devoted her life for Signora. She had a feeling that Signora wouldn’t stay here for long. Her heart lies at Abenney. She will return there. Now that she is sure that Capo is still alive, Signora might leave for Abenney any time soon.
She cannot go on falling in love with a guy who has devoted his life to the Vitale family. If they fall in love, it’s not going to be a win-win situation for them. One of them will lose if they want to stay together.
It’s better if she doesn’t let those feelings develop further. She should stop those feelings just as a crush.
She cannot leave Signora and he cannot leave the Vitale family.
That aside...
How did Leonardo Vitale know about her feelings when Nelson himself thinks she is just friendly with him? What is he planning?
"What?" Leonardo lost his patience seeing the bewildered look on Martha’s face. "Is it that hard to answer?" he raised his voice.
Martha took a careful step back as she saw the anger on Leonardo’s face.
"You’re still not speaking! Are you planning on dining and dashing? You are going to use my boy and dump him? Do you think my boys are open for~"
"Leonardo!" Vito called his son. "Come here!"
Leonardo whipped his head to look at his father. He then glared at Martha making her scared. "We haven’t finished talking yet!" he said pointing his finger at her.
Martha blinked. She saw something in the corner of her eyes and turned to see Vito Vitale waving at her. She bowed her head with a smile. He had a fatherly smile. She’s seen the other side of the notorious Vitale family in the past year.
The Vitale family love their family so much to the extent that their love extends to one expendable maid.
Martha was touched.
She will give up her life for her mistress and her family just for the love they show her.
------
"What is it, Dad?" Leonardo asked while running to him.
"Come with me,’ Vito wrapped his arm around Leonardo’s shoulder.
Seeing Leonardo, Ziya jumped at him. Leonardo got her and kissed her cheek as he couldn’t help it. "You love Ardo the most, don’t you?" he chuckled as Ziya tried to kiss him back.
"Do you really think your sister will stay here for her maid?" Vito asked. "If anything, she will convince her maid to be with the man she loves and do what she wants to do anyway. She’s not going to find it hard to look after her daughter and her business."
Leonardo wanted to retort his father but he couldn’t find any valid point. His father does have a point. Why would she stay here for her maid?
"On the other hand, we can send Nelson there, so we can rest easy," Vito said.
"You’ve accepted her departure, Dad?" Leonardo was shocked.
Ziya could sense that her dear uncle was stressed and patted his cheeks. "I’m fine, Ziya," he hugged her. "Dad...Look at her... Look how attached she is to us. We are all she knows. How can you let her leave?"
"Leonardo!" Vito glared at him. "No matter how much we all love her, she is her daughter. She will go with her mother."
Leonardo scoffed. He did not like it when his father talked like this. "You are pampering her a lot. Will you let me leave if I want to?" he asked.
Vito smiled. "If you want to be with your wife, yes. I will let you leave. Family is the most important thing in the world."
Leonardo scoffed. "Yeah, family is. So, nieces don’t count as family? I am going to steal my little Ziya and run away."
Vito shook his head in disappointment. "Have your own child before talking nonsense." Vito rebuked his son.
Leonardo did not like it at all.
"He’s alive, Leonardo. We have footage," Vito said.
Leonardo’s jaws almost dropped to the floor.
"He was in our house. And he... he must have been the one who stole the Arment gold."
"He wouldn’t have done it alone," Leonardo furrowed his brows.
"Even if he kept just thirty percentage of what he looted, he’s a billionaire on his own accord. You know how it is in our business. Finders keepers." Vito shrugged.
Leonardo smiled. So, after the government seized all the assets of the Kastello family, Leonardo went and got himself rich by stealing stolen money.
Smart...
"What are we going to do about Arment? And what if those who shared the loot..." Leonardo furrowed his brows. "He’s not going to let anyone live, isn’t he, Dad?"
He might have shared his loot with someone but there is always a possibility that they will turn on him. He’s not going to let them live for them to turn their backs on him.
"He won’t return until he annihilates them," Leonardo said.
Vito nodded. "See, you are smart. And even if she leaves, so what? She’s just a few hours away. You can meet her on the weekends. You can say in her house if you want. She’s going to treat you well. I miss her cooking."
Leonardo went silent. His father makes sense. It’s not like she’s not going to be his sister once she leaves their home. She’s going to be his sister forever. And Ziya is always going to be his niece.
"Get some cousins for Ziya to play with if you care for her that much," Vito said.
"Why would Ziya need cousins? She has me, the coolest uncle in the world!" Leonardo threw her in the air and Ziya giggled happily.
Vito sighed.
It is easy to be an uncle rather than a father. Being a father requires responsibility. It’s a scary job. But being a father gives the utmost joy in the world once you see the payout.
He is happy. He wanted his son to feel the same fulfillment as he does.
"Why does he have to steal the gold? It’s not like he lacks money. Princess Vitale has enough money for five generations," Ignazio said.
"What do you think, Ignazio?" Vito looked at him. "He’s a man. He’s not going to live off his wife’s money. He also proved to us that he is more than capable of taking care of Vitale’s only daughter. He went through Herculean trials himself and proved to be the best mate for my daughter. I now can’t find a reason to keep my daughter with me. She should be with the man she loves."
Ignazio nodded in understanding. He didn’t think that Don Vitale had the same thoughts as Leonardo to keep the princess here. Leander must have predicted it and proved to Vito that he could take his wife from their home if he wished for it. He did slip into their highly secure party and got close to her. If he wanted to, he could have gotten her out. It’s not like the princess would have refused.
Now they have to wait and see. Whatever happens, it is good to see the smile on the princess’ face. It would be better if he came for her soon.
Ignazio was curious as to how he was going to bring his wife back. She has set his eyes on Abenney. He didn’t think that the princess would like to live anywhere else. They have buried their baby there and that is a very sentimental place.
Everyone knows of her as Leander Kastello’s wife. How is he going to bring her back there?
That is going to be interesting.
