Chapter 330: Found Leander
Chapter 330: Found Leander
The nurse came rushing in. She shouted for the doctor.
"Mrs. Kastello, calm down... You’re in a hospital and~"
"Where is he? Where is my husband?" Viviana cried. "Let me..."
She couldn’t move her hands and that’s when she noticed that her hand was cuffed to the bed. She looked out the window and the sky was dark. She must have passed out for at least three hours.
"What’s this?" Viviana tried to pull her hand out of the cuff. The metal hurt her wrist but she pulled with all her might. She cannot be tied up here. She needs to find Leander.
"Let go of me! Why am I cuffed? What is going on here?" Viviana shouted.
The nurse pushed her down on the bed. "I’m sorry, Mrs. Kastello. I...Please, be calm. The cops will talk to you soon..."
"No!" Viviana screamed. "Let go of me! Is anyone listening? I do not consent to stay in this hospital!"
She struggled so hard to get rid of the cuffs, her skin peeled. Her messy hair spread on her face hiding her eyes but she didn’t stop screaming.
"Where is Leander? Leo!!! Leo!!!"
Her voice echoed in the room.
A couple of staff rushed in. The nurse went to get a syringe with a sedative. "Calm down, Mrs. Kastello..."
Viviana who was screaming out of her senses saw the syringe and got alert. She could sense danger around her. She needed Leander to save her. A part of her rational brain told her that she was alone right now. She had a bad feeling about what happened to Leander. Because if Leander was breathing, he wouldn’t have allowed her hands to get cuffed.
But she didn’t want to lose hope yet. She remembered Leander’s words.
The only reason he turns his back is to protect her. He must be somewhere alive, hoping she would take care of herself.
"Lawyer!" she said in a calm voice fixing her hair with her free hand. "Get me my lawyer!"
The nurse held the syringe in her hand confused. Viviana looked at her with a firm gaze. The nurse took an unconscious step back.
"I won’t be needing whatever that is," Viviana jerked her head at the syringe. "So, unless you are getting paid to kill me, keep that thing away from me. If you are killing me, make sure you succeed. Because otherwise, suing you would be the least you’d have to worry about, Bernice..." Viviana said reading the name on her tag.
The nurse gulped and backed away seeing the dangerous smirk on Viviana’s face. She was told that she was the wife of the Kastello mafia heir. She thought she would be an oppressed pitiful woman who was trapped in that hellhole. But this woman is the same as them. She didn’t want to get on the wrong side of the mafia even when they are over.
Viviana looked at the door hearing a loud scoff.
A man was standing with a thick file in his hand. His leather jacket glistened in the bright white light in the hallway. Viviana could sense that that guy had not one iota of goodwill toward her. He looked at her with a hateful sneer.
"Wow!" The man clapped. "The boss lady, everyone..." he placed the file under his armpits and looked around. "Come on, everybody... Let’s clap for the boss lady!"
Viviana closed her eyes and leaned on the pillow. He must be a cop. She didn’t know what she could say but she had a feeling. She didn’t want to talk to him.
"Are you feeling shy, darling?"
The cop dragged a metal stool near her and sat on it.
"Look at me!" he said gritting his teeth. She felt him leaning closer to her.
She still didn’t open her eyes. "Lawyer," she said. "I’m not talking without my lawyer."
"You think you are smart, huh?" that guy threw the file on her bed.
The file displaced a gust of air and she wouldn’t lie if she said she was not scared. She was scared. But she cannot show her fear in front of those cops who sniff fear. She’d rather be an arrogant wife of the mafia heir rather than be a timid orphan. It hasn’t even been a year since she had married Leander and yet her entire perspective had changed.
For him, she will do anything.
It was not her first thought, but she did worry about the baby and others. Luca stepped into the building like her and she didn’t know what happened to Martha. She wanted to ask the cop but if she show any kind of weakness, he would use it as leverage.
She has no choice but to wait for the lawyer.
"You f*cking b*tch!" that guy grabbed her cheeks and pulled her closer to his face.
Viviana’s eyes filled with tears unable to bear the pain. She has lived a fairly pain-free life for a long time. She couldn’t bear it when someone hurt her when she couldn’t do anything back.
The guy seemed to be enjoying her pain evidenced by the smirk on his face. "You’re showing your attitude to me? Do you know what your husband did? He~"
*Knock* *Knock*
There was a knock at the door. The guy still was holding her cheek and with a disappointed grunt, turned to look at the person disturbing his interrogation. Viviana could only move her eyes and she recognized the person standing by the door.
Her lawyer Leander arranged for her to handle her business.
She sighed in relief.
The cop let go of her cheek and walked to the door. Viviana stretched out her jaws as it was hurting badly. Even though the painkillers were in her system, her head started to hurt again.
Viviana saw the lawyer talking to the cop. The cop tried to raise his voice but the lawyer had none of it. Leander did not choose lawyer Giovanni for her just because he knew the law. That guy is cunning like a fox and when needed he could rise up to be a wolf.
The heated discussion between Giovanni and the cop lasted for some minutes and another person arrived there. The other guy must have been superior to the cop who talked to her. The cop dashed out in anger and the lawyer entered the room.
Her handcuffs were removed and Viviana rubbed her hand. The nurse quickly came and cleaned the wound and bandaged it.
"What happened? Where is Leander?" Viviana asked Giovanni.
Giovanni looked stressed. "Signora..."
As he was hesitating the superior came in.
"Mrs. Kastello, I know you’ve been through a lot but we are sorry to tell you that we have found your husband’s remains in the fire. He’s charred beyond recognition but we~"
"No!" Viviana shook her head. "You’re lying! He’s not dead. My Leo is not dead! Don’t lie to me!"
