Chapter 326: Weird Incident

Chapter 326: Weird Incident

The entire house was silent as everyone had gone to bed. After she retires to her room, everyone goes to bed usually. She didn’t want to take a walk outside anymore as she didn’t want to disturb them.

She heard Luca’s voice in the garden as she went to the kitchen. He was on the phone with someone. She was surprised he didn’t sign off and go home till this hour.

"That’s weird. Why?" Luca sounded so shocked by whatever was said to him by the person at the other end of the call.

Viviana got curious and listened. She wondered if there are some new gossips in the house. But Luca was talking in an anxious tone.

"Keep her in-? Steve, she is in! I told you; she didn’t talk to that woman. She went inside the house. Is she in danger?" Luca asked.

Viviana gulped. Steve was at the other end and they were talking about her!

"I will follow Capo’s orders... Okay... Okay... I’ll make sure-What? Keep her from watching TV?... Okay... Okay, I’ll inform..."

Luca ended the call.

Viviana hid from Luca’s view as he looked around to see if there was anyone else. She almost dropped the glass on the counter but she caught it before it toppled. Holding the glass, she slid down and sat on the floor.

What is going on?

After Mary’s betrayal, she became skeptical of everyone. It was hard for her to trust anyone as loyalty is rare these days. But if Luca was indeed talking to Steve, Steve would have passed the order from Leander.

Why would Leander order them to keep her from the TV tomorrow? What is going to happen tomorrow? He didn’t tell me anything.

Viviana went back to her room but she couldn’t fall asleep. She wondered if she should call Leander again. But it was already late and she didn’t want to disturb him in case he was already asleep.

She recalled everything Leander and she talked about. She didn’t think anything was off. It was a usual call, right? Except for the silence from Leander’s side for some time, she didn’t find anything odd.

Maybe I heard wrong?

The baby cried and she took care of her. Ziya was a little fuzzy and didn’t fall asleep immediately. For almost an hour, she stayed awake. Viviana went to bed after putting Ziya back in her crib. She fell asleep immediately as she was dead tired and she had a couple of glasses of wine to soothe her nerves.

She had a disturbed sleep maybe because her mind wasn’t clear. Leander was occupying her thoughts even when she was asleep.

Maybe she was thinking too much of him, she saw him in her dream. It was so vivid; she could even feel his presence near her.

She was half awake when she saw a dark figure blocking the dim light from the window. She was not stressed as she knew it was her dearest husband. Without knowing she smiled and reached out for him. He walked to her and held her hand.

"My love..." he said as he kissed her hand.

She felt his prickly facial hair along with his soft lips and giggled. It was such a nice dream. Gently, he caressed her forehead and everything went dark. His warmth was on her head and she drifted back to sleep.

She heard him speak and willed herself to open her eyes. He was so entwined with her being, she couldn’t help it. Wherever she saw traces of him, she found herself to be dragged there without any effort. It didn’t matter if it was a dream.

He has become her everything.

She didn’t hear him speak but only the baby’s cry. She tried to wake up. But she was in a state where she couldn’t get up. She regretted drinking so late at night.

She couldn’t get up but the baby didn’t cry anymore. Maybe it was a part of her dream or Martha could have handled the baby. She left the door unlocked for Martha to enter freely for that reason.

She fell back asleep again. Near her belly, she felt a warmth, the familiar warmth of Leander. The bed was sunken and she tried to open her eyes.

Once again, a gentle warmth engulfed her forehead forcing her eyes to shut. A lot was said but she couldn’t hear properly. She didn’t mind it as his voice was always pleasant to listen to. It didn’t matter what he says.

"I love you..."

She heard him hiss. His voice was nostalgically alluring. She smiled. She could feel her lips curving up.

"My dearest Jo, I, your Michael will watch over you..."

It was Leander’s voice, but the words said...

Her heart skipped a beat out of fear. Coldness surrounded her and she felt like falling. With a gasp she woke up.

It can’t be...

Was Leander here?

Viviana wiped the perspiration off her face and looked around. The baby was sleeping. The sun was up and she heard the birds singing. She was out of breath and she patted her chest to calm herself down.

It must have been a dream. There is no other explanation. Otherwise, why would Leander leave without telling her?

"I’m never drinking again..."

She mumbled as she downed an entire glass of water.

"I must be getting old..."

She checked the baby first and she was sleeping peacefully. She looked at the trash bin. There were two used diapers in there. She remembered cleaning the bin last night. She changed the diaper once.

If so...

She remembered hearing the baby cry. Martha must have changed the diaper the next time.

"Ah, Melanie... you sure are getting old..."

She walked to the balcony to open it. She needed some fresh air before coffee. She squinted her eyes as she noticed the balcony door unlocked.

"Did I forget to lock..." she mumbled and opened the door.

By now she was already confused to the maximum. She walked out into the sun. The fresh air was nice. She sat on the lounge chair near the railing and looked out the garden. She planted some daisies near her bedroom window. The garden staff noticed her at the balcony and informed Martha that she was awake.

Five minutes after, she heard a knock at the bedroom door. She waited for Martha to open the door. She didn’t lock the bedroom door. It was as it was left the whole night. Also, if Martha entered the room at night, the door should be unlocked.

Viviana’s heart skipped hearing Martha still knocking. She rushed to the bedroom door only to see it locked.

What is going on?

She opened the door. Martha was standing with her morning coffee.

Viviana thanked and got it from her hands.

"Do you need anything else, Signora?" Martha asked seeing Viviana so unfocused.

"Was she crying for long last night? I had wine and..." Viviana looked at Ziya.

"No, Signora. I didn’t hear her crying..." Martha looked confused. "Oh, my! Did I ~"

"No, no..." Viviana patted Martha’s shoulder. She was panicked thinking she slept over the cries of the baby. "Martha, bring me breakfast. I am hungry," she sent her away.

Viviana’s eyes ended up in the trash bin.

It is odd...

With the coffee in her hand, she walked to the balcony. She looked around. Her eyes widened as she noticed something.

This is bad... This is...

I need to see Leander!
