Chapter 324: Cruel Mother

Chapter 324: Cruel Mother

"I don’t know what you are talking about. My mother is dead," Viviana patted the imaginary dust in her clothes. "I won’t waste my time with you."

Viviana turned to leave.

"You are going to pretend?" Tabitha scoffed. "He took my kidney and threw me at the side of a road while I was still bleeding from the incision. They didn’t even sew me up properly! He wanted me dead!"

Viviana didn’t mind her shout. She inferred it might have been Vito Vitale who did that. If her father got the kidney he needed, she was glad.

"You’re not going to say that you’re happy I got treated this way? I am the woman who didn’t bother to kill her daughter and delegated it to a stupid maid! And you are the daughter I wanted dead. I considered you as trash; a burden; a hindrance to my peaceful life! You weren’t even a boy! Useless. That’s what you are, Minerva. Trash!"

Tabitha laughed seeing Viviana stopping by the gates. Her hands were balled into fists as she was affected by her words.

"It’s not nice to hear, is it? How can he treat my daughter as trash? Am I that lowly?" Tabitha shouted. "You are the trash who stole my daughter’s life!"

Viviana understood that Tabitha was actually mad at Vito. But why did she come here?

She got alert. Tabitha might try to hurt her in hopes of hurting Vito and Leander. She needs to be careful.

But... this woman has no heart. She’s wicked. Why would she say those words to me?

Trash?

TRASH?

I am not trash, am I? Leander would punch that woman in the face until she dies if he heard her say this word in front of him. I am not trash. There are a lot of people who love me. People would miss me badly if something bad happens to me.

Leander would be heartbroken if something happened to me. Ziya would miss me.

Yeah, I am not trash.

She turned and faced Tabitha. Even she was surprised at how quickly she could get over such a hurtful insult.

"Thank you for treating me like trash, Tabitha. Had you pitied me and decided to raise me... Ugh! I couldn’t imagine that fate..." She sighed in relief and patted her chest.

Tabitha’s lips trembled out of anger. Looking at the woman smiling as if she was a lotus blooming in a muddy pond, irked her. Whatever insults she threw at her rolled down like water on a lotus pad.

"Do you see this mansion...?" Viviana pointed at the house. "It’s mine. My husband bought it for me... As a gift... He loves me dearly. I do not care what anyone else thinks of me. I am glad that the woman who birthed me considered me trash and threw me away. I will be grateful to God my whole life for protecting me from evil and handing me over to my guardian angel."

"Evil? Whom are you calling evil?" Tabitha ran at Viviana.

The men she was with blocked Tabitha. Tabitha did not like that and squirmed to get free.

"What about the baby?" Tabitha shouted. "Give my granddaughter back! Helena is suffering thinking of her daughter... Give her back!"

Viviana fisted her hands. So, this was the reason for Tabitha’s visit.

Helena is the mother and after carrying the baby for nine months it is not unimaginable if she missed her baby. She’d still be recovering from her pregnancy and childbirth and her mental distress would hinder her recovery.

Viviana’s heart filled with compassion for Helena and her hands relaxed.

Should I not let Helena suffer? Should I leave the baby with her mother?

But... I cannot part her... She’s...mine.

Tabitha continued, "She’s not fine ever since she learned that Leander handed over her baby to YOU. How can YOU raise her baby? That unfortunate bud is better dead than being raised by you. Give that baby to me..."

Viviana gritted her teeth.

In the end, it was not Helena’s motherly love that wants her baby. It’s her jealousy. She would rather have her baby killed rather than be alive with her. Viviana chided herself for pitying Helena knowing she threw her baby away.

"What baby?" Viviana turned to Tabitha. "Have you gone crazy, old lady? Throw her out!" she waved her hand.

In the distance, she saw a car with some men. One of them was wearing a fedora but he was not the guy she was used to knowing. She wondered if that group of men are Vito’s men.

That guy tipped his hat at her.

Viviana took in a deep breath and nodded at him.

They are Vito’s men.

"Stop, trash! I know how to get that baby from you! Do you-Ah! Don’t hit me!" Tabitha screamed.

"Don’t touch her," she said and walked inside the house. She didn’t want to do the sin of hurting her birth mother. She didn’t care what Vito’s men do to her though.

The gates were closed and Viviana walked inside with a larger gait. "Leander will not know the content of our conversation," she said as she reached the house.

The men all looked at her with an awkward glance. "Sig~"

"I’ll tell him you guys tried to hit me," she said shamelessly.

She didn’t want Leander to know that Tabitha said those hurtful words to her. He would be devastated thinking she was hurt badly. She was not hurt in the least. In fact, she was keener on raising the baby herself.

The men’s faces went pale. It doesn’t matter whether it was the truth or not. If Signora says something, that’s what Leander will believe. They didn’t want to lose their life.

The men kneeled in front of her. "Not a single word," she waved her hand and stepped inside the house.

She was so mad she couldn’t even do anything for the entire day. She couldn’t believe there are women like Tabitha and Helena in this world. She was so mad even the ringtone for Leander’s call sounded irksome. S

She almost slammed the phone down but she saw his picture blinking on her phone screen and a smile bloomed on her face.

"Leo," she answered her phone. "Did you hear already?"

"Hear what?" Leander asked. "You don’t sound good. What happened?"

He panicked.

"Nothing, don’t panic," she assured him. "It’s just... Helena’s mother made a commotion at the gates. "

"Tabitha?" Leander sounded anxious. "What did she say?"

"Why are you getting anxious?" Viviana pouted. Her eyes misted knowing that Leander was panicking for her sake. He does not want her to be hurt.

"Hey, Leo...Are you hiding something from me? An affair, perhaps? Does Tabitha know? Is that why you’re sounding nervous?" She spoke in a cheeky tone hiding her emotions.

She loved him dearly. It hurt her to hear his anxious voice. He should be happy all the time.

Leander chuckled from the other end. "Silly mouse... My silly little lemon... My dearest Melanie..."

Viviana listened to him wiping her tears away. "What?"

"I love you..." Leander said. He must be alone for he said that loudly. She was happy.

"I love you too..."

"Why did she come there?" Leander asked his voice turning menacing.

"I don’t know... I didn’t talk to her. I do not like the looks of her...It’s... I do not like her, Leo," she said.

The other end was silent for some time.

"Leo... Do you expect me to treat her as your mother-in-law?" she asked in a joking way.

She knew how much Leander loved his mother. She wondered if Leander expected her to love her "mother" even though she never loved her. But... that wouldn’t be the case, she felt.

"No, she will not appear in front of you again. I’ll make sure of that," Leander said.

"Don’t kill her by your hands, Leander. Leave that woman to die on her own."

Leander said nothing. Viviana didn’t force him either. He’s a big man. He can decide on his own.
