Chapter 318: She Knew It

Chapter 318: She Knew It

Both Vito and Leander didn’t have anything much to talk about. Leander was greatly relieved that Vito truly wanted to connect with his daughter.

Viviana deserves it.

Vito understood what Leander was all about. He decided to step aside. He didn’t care much about Leander’s business.

If Leander went against him, it wouldn’t take much for him to destroy him. He only had one reservation—his daughter loves him very much. He cannot hurt her.

If Leander comes after him, he can’t take much even if he tried his best. He had a feeling Leander wouldn’t do it though. He is fighting another war.

Leander might not have stated it openly but he had implied that he might have to watch over his daughter for some time. He didn’t mind it though. Maybe he can bring her to his home.

Hearing the cooing sound of the baby, both of them looked to the side. Viviana carried the baby with her.

"Meet Ignazia, Dad," she gave the baby to Vito to hold.

She didn’t think she needed to introduce the baby further. Vito must have investigated everything about her.

Vito was stunned and stood up. He was hesitant to hold the baby mostly because he was not used to holding babies. He didn’t even hold his son when he was this little. He could easily refuse his wife but he didn’t have the heart to refuse his daughter.

Viviana could sense that Vito was not used to it and she guided him through it. She asked him to sit and then had him hold the baby.

"So little..." Vito mumbled and Viviana saw the corners of his lips trembling. She went and sat beside Leander.

Vito was emotional. This baby is his grandchild. This might not be his first grandchild but this is the first grandchild he was holding.

"She’s pretty..." Vito looked at Viviana.

"She is, isn’t she?" Viviana smiled.

Without knowing, she held Leander’s hand. She felt fulfilled seeing Vito holding the baby so gently. Leander gently squeezed her hand. She turned and smiled at him.

Leander patted her hand. She looked happy. That’s all he ever wanted.

"I- I didn’t bring anything for..." Vito looked up. His eyes were red. Viviana rushed to his side.

"I came rushing here. And I..."

"It’s fine, Dad." Viviana kneeled in front of him and held his hand. "I don’t want anything from you. Your presence is the biggest gift for me. I mean it."

Vito nodded.

Viviana got the baby from his hand as he looked lost not knowing what to do with the baby. She can only push a notorious mafia gang lord to some extent.

But...

With a bright smile, she walked to Leander. Leander was sitting casually at first but seeing her walking toward him, he shifted in his seat. He could guess what she was trying to do. She tried that a lot of times and he managed to escape.

He tried to get up but Viviana blocked him,

"Hold him for some time," Viviana smiled.

Leander pressed his lips and glared at her. She is using the presence of Vito and trying to make him hold the baby. He didn’t want to let her win. He pressed his hands on his thighs.

Viviana would back off usually seeing his unwillingness. But she didn’t know what got to her this time. Even Vito held the baby. What’s with Leander? Is she not his baby?

She placed the baby on his forearms. She didn’t think that he would let the baby roll down.

Leander glared at her gesturing with his eyes for her to take the baby back. But she didn’t relent.

Leander had to relent in front of her insistence. He held the baby. Viviana sat beside him with a satisfied smile.

Leander looked at the baby’s face. The little thing didn’t weigh much although she looked round. He stared at the baby.

*Bloom*

The baby smiled at him showing her toothless mouth.

Leander’s heart skipped a beat.

Wow!

Just wow!

It’s the prettiest thing in the whole world...

Those eyes...

This one inherited her aunt’s eye... The same eyes as her grandfather’s eyes...

He couldn’t take his eyes off the baby for some time.

*Brrrr*

His phone ring distracted him. Happily handing over the baby to her, Leander excused himself and left the room whispering into the phone.

Viviana held the baby close to her chest and watched her. She had a smile on her face and started sucking on her finger. She ate just some time ago and that means she should be feeling sleepy.

"She has your eyes," Vito said.

He had this intense feeling of joy in his heart seeing his daughter holding a little life in her hands.

"And I have yours," Viviana looked at Vito.

Vito looked at her with a smile. "What do you want to ask me?" he asked. He could see that something was bothering her.

"She’s not Leander’s, is she, Dad?" she asked. It’s been bothering her. Vito cleared his throat. He looked like he was not willing to talk about it.

"He’s... he’s not connecting with her at all..." She looked at Vito with pleading eyes.

"Is it important?" Vito asked.

"I want to know if it is my fault... She’s... I love her. I won’t give up her for anything. The moment I touched her, I felt this instant connection to her. I don’t..."

Viviana took in a deep breath. She wiped the corner of her eyes that were wet.

"Everyone’s saying she looks like me," she looked at Vito. "I know of one person who looks exactly like me. And she was pregnant at that time. She told me how important it was for her to have a son. A couple of days before she "lost her son", Leander handed this one to me...Dad, am I guessing right?" she asked.

Vito laughed. "You are my daughter."

"I am right, aren’t I?" Viviana bowed her head.

So, Ziya is Helena’s daughter.

If so...

Vito saw her face getting sad. "Your husband is not the father," he wanted to let her know.

"Huh?" Viviana looked up. "I know that."

That was the one thing she was sure of. Leander wouldn’t have brought his child with Helena to her. He knew how much it would hurt her. She believed Leander wouldn’t have slept with Helena after she got married. He’s not someone who would sleep with a woman who belonged to another man. His pride wouldn’t allow him to share a woman. She didn’t think he would get that blinded with love.

Vito smiled. So, it appears that there is trust between them. The more he talked to them he could understand the deep love and respect both shared.

"She looks like me..." Viviana mumbled and looked at Vito. "Ziya looks like her mother and...Dad," her voice deepened. "Is Helena my sister?" she asked.
