Chapter 293: [Bonus Chapter] He Brought a Baby!?

Viviana didn’t want to ruin this chance. Leander looked at her like he didn’t know her.

Maybe he didn’t.

She changed a lot after her parents passed away. She became more pessimistic and was intrigued with death. After meeting Leander though, watching him and listening to him has changed her.

She was surprised by the changes in her way of thinking. She has become more confident. She will give all the credit to Leander. It was his love that gave her that confidence.

Even in these tough times, she could find hope because of love.

She took in a deep breath. She needs to tell him what she feels whether he likes it or not.

"I am sorry for reacting strongly. I didn’t mean to. I did ask you to do what you want. But that does not include what you do TO me. Please refrain from touching me when you have remnants of another woman on you. Treat me with dignity," she said in the gentlest tone possible.

Her intent was not to hurt him or blame him that he was acting brutish with her. She wanted to express her feelings in the most loving way possible.

She wanted for their relationship to last a lifetime.

She didn’t want him to do whatever he wanted to do. She needs to draw boundaries.

She loved him to death. But there are some things that she won’t accept, things she can’t accept. She can bear almost anything but not everything he does, precisely because she loves him.

Danielle might have told her to have some respect for herself out of her hatred for men. But she was right to tell her to have self-respect.

She needs to stand up for herself. Otherwise, she will regress to her past self—someone who believed she was worth nothing. She did not want to be that woman anymore.

Also, she knows how Leander is. He is not someone who would like someone who can’t even respect themselves. He would get bored of such person and would forget them.

And who is she?

She is the one Leander chose to be his wife. If she doesn’t treat herself right and let anyone walk over her, whose shame is that?

By everyone, she included Leander too.

If she is going to be the Lion’s wife, she got to be the Lioness; not a scaredy cat.

"Remnants of another woman?" Leander leaned back.

His incredulous smirk was amusing to watch. He must not have expected her to say those things.

"The hair..." she pointed at his cuff.

Leander only then noticed the hair. His eyes widened and he immediately got rid of the hair.

"You even left your collar chain with her. It leaves room to interpretation. She might claim in the future that you gifted it to her," she added.

If she was going to complain, she wanted to unburden her heart.

Leander rolled the divider down. "Steve, I lost my jewelry at the mall near the VIP elevator. Have someone get it. I want it back no matter what."

The partition went up and Leander looked at her. "What else?"

Viviana leaned forward. "Remember when you mentioned the verse about a married couple being one flesh?"

Leander nodded. He did mention that verse to tell her that she was the most important person in his life even more than his family.

"If two souls become one body, if they become whole, there shouldn’t be another body or soul interfering," she said.

She cannot condone cheating. He can still cheat. He can have his side-chicks. But she won’t be with him anymore.

"A man can be one body with only one woman. Same with a woman," she added.

He cannot tell her that she didn’t warn.

"You were not opposed to involve another woman for having a baby," he questioned back.

"Yeah. I now agree with you. You were right." She shrugged. She remembered the hurtful words he said the other day.

I will never let you have my child!

Bitterness rose in her heart but she contained it. She didn’t want to think about those cruel words.

She realized that she played a very dangerous game then. She thought she wanted a baby so badly she could accept a surrogate mother in their life.

But that would ruin her mental state. She is already insecure with her infertile issues. She wouldn’t be able to accept that another woman is carrying her husband’s baby—something she cannot do.

"Adoption is always an option," she said. "That is, if you agree. There are children who need a home—just like I was in the past..."

She had a lot to say but she saw Leander looking at her with knitted brows as if he was contemplating something.

"You changed your mind," he said. He didn’t sound very enthusiastic.

They’ve already reached their home. The electronic gate was slowly opening.

’You are not changing your mind. So, I did," she said. "I can never have your child. Isn’t that what you said?"

Even talking about it made her sorrow rise. But she wondered if this was the root of the misunderstanding between them. She wanted to clear it. "I’m not blaming you," she wiped the corner of her eyes. "I don’t want us to... Leander, I do not like the distance between us. Please..."

"Get out," Leander said.

The car had stopped in the driveway. Viviana wiped the corners of her eyes and looked at Leander. She wanted him to say something... anything.

But he didn’t.

He received a phone call. It must have been not-so-good news; she saw him getting anxious. Without speaking further, she got down from the car.

With Leander in the car, the car reversed out of the gates in a hurry.

Viviana could only sigh. After ensuring that her puppies were safe and relaxed, she took a small nap. She didn’t want to stay awake and worry about everything that is going wrong around her.

She couldn’t sleep deeply and woke up hearing Leander’s car horn. She looked out and it was already dark outside. She must have slept without her knowing.

She walked out. She was staying in the guest bedroom these days and just as she opened the bedroom door, she heard Leander’s car door open.

The baby sounded like a newborn. Without her control, Viviana had already rushed to the car. There she saw Leander. He was holding a bundle in his hands. The cry was originating from the bundle.
