Chapter 291: A Shocking Sight
Chapter 291: A Shocking Sight
Helena positioned herself behind a potted plant near the VIP elevator. Her restless almond eyes looked around for any disturbance. The hallway was empty and seeing that Leander didn’t mind that place, she let out a sigh.
"Have you thought about what I asked of you, Leo?" Helena tried to get a hold of his lapel but Leander took a step back.
"Why didn’t you leave when you saw my wife earlier?" Leander asked. He didn’t bother to answer her question.
Helena was shocked. "Leo, I~"
"It’s Mr. Kastello for you, Mrs. Palatini. Do not think you are in any way superior to~"
"Everyone knows, Leo," Helena interjected him. "Everyone knows of our meetings in the hotel. If everyone knows, then my husband knows too and~"
"You weren’t thinking of the consequences when you begged to meet me and sent me all those texts?" Leander scoffed. "How stupid of you!"
"You’re- You are blaming me too?" Helena asked, her eyes filled with tears. She turned the side and wiped her eyes. "She said I was easy and... Was I the fool?"
"Who?" Leander grabbed her shoulders to make her face him. He came here because he heard there was a little confrontation between his wife and Helena. But he didn’t know what was said between them.
"Who is ’she’?" he shouted to make Helena focus. He was irked seeing her cry. If he had to see someone cry, he’d rather it be his wife. He hated to see his wife cry but he can endure it. Why would he endure with another woman? He wanted to know if Viviana knew about his meetings with Helena.
"Your wife, Leo," Helena hissed. "She knows. She called me easy and..." she held her breath as tears rolled down her cheeks. "It’s fine if she blamed me, but you..." she tried to hold his cheeks.
Leander stumbled back. She was not supposed to know. "Do not lie!" he hissed. He was so mad he couldn’t think straight.
"It’s true. She’s using you for your money, Leo..." Helena paused as she observed Leander. He was blinking fast and was in deep contemplation. Her lips curved slightly as she assumed Leander listened to her. She continued. "She doesn’t care about your heart...Leo, I only have you now. My husband...he’ll definitely~"
"Stop it!" Leander grabbed her hands that were reaching for him. He was annoyed. He wanted to ask her what happened. But he knew she will lie.
What does she know about his wife?
"I can see it, Helena. I can see the deception in your eyes. Don’t you dare!" Gritting his teeth, he pushed her to the wall and grabbed her throat. He leaned forward as he crushed her throat and felt her hard pregnant belly on him.
He stepped back. He didn’t want to hurt her pregnancy. He remembered how devastated he was when he held his dead child. He wouldn’t wish that on anyone; not even on Palatini.
Helena didn’t let him retreat. Clinging to the collar of his shirt, she pulled him. Leander held her wrists and squished them to loosen her hold. He didn’t want to put more pressure on her.
"You’ve got to help me, Leo..." Helena spoke.
Leander heard the ’ding’ of the elevator and the door opened. He looked to the side and his heart skipped a beat hearing the bark of puppies. He recognized the bark.
He didn’t think about anything else and pushed Helena back. The collar chain he was wearing got released as Helena stumbled back holding it. He saw Viviana stepping out of the elevator. She turned at him and their eyes met.
His heart skipped a beat feeling the warmth spreading on his chest.
Helena pulled his lapel and glued herself to him. Before he could react, he felt her soft lips on his cheek. "The baby is Evander’s. My husband cannot know it," Helena whispered in his ears.
*Cling*
With a cling, his collar chain fell on the floor. Leander felt like it was his heart that shattered to pieces on the floor. He wished he hadn’t heard what Helena said. But he did. At the same time, he knew how this position would look in front of his wife.
Leander tried to speak to Viviana. The puppies barked at him as they recognized him. She made sure her puppies knew his scent. Seeing the stranger with him, they got agitated. The whole place echoed with the loud barks of the dogs.
"Come on, puppies," Viviana’s voice was calm and yet held the strength to command obedience. "Let’s go! There’s nothing here."
The puppies took her word as a command and stopped barking. Leander watched Viviana walk away as if she didn’t even know him. Leander stared at her back filled with disbelief.
What happened here?
"I told you she doesn’t care," Helena said. Although her voice was meek and soft like a whisper, he could sense a sneer in her tone.
"You! I will kill you!" Leander pushed Helena back with all his strength. Her head hit hard on the wall. There was not much space between her and the wall and she managed to balance herself on the wall.
Helena’s vision went blurry and she felt her abdomen stiffening. She held her belly and it was hard as a rock.
"Leo, help!" she cried only for her cries to be not heard.
Leander was already catching up with Viviana. Helena clenched her jaws. She thought she had him. But... Was she played like the other one said?
Was her mother right? SHE is her sister? Is that why Leander responded to her after all these years?
Helena’s eyes squinted with pain and malice. She knew how to ruin that woman’s life. She should have stayed dead as her mother believed. Who asked her to be alive? Now she will have to live the rest of her life in pain.
Viviana couldn’t believe what she saw. All the happiness she had to see her beautiful puppies was wiped off to be replaced with despair.
That image was imprinted in her mind. Leander was pressing on Helena. Helena’s hands were clutching his collar and she definitely saw Helena whispering something into Leander’s ears.
There was every proof for her to believe that they were doing something inappropriate in that private space. But she didn’t know why she was so pathetic. She had a feeling that Helena was the one clinging to Leander and he was pushing her back.
If it was the past, she wouldn’t even think about it. But now...
She could be wrong. She wanted to be right through. But what if...
"Stop!"
She pressed her lips hearing Leander’s voice. Her car rolled to a stop and Luca got out of the driver’s seat. She decided to make a run for it.
"Do not take a step forward!"
Leander shouted behind her. Her puppies were excited to get in the car and dragged her. She looked around to see a family pulling up to the VIP entrance and she recognized the guy. He attended Evander’s funeral. He was staring in their direction hearing Leander’s shout.
Leander might not care about making a scene. But she didn’t want to make a scene in public.
"What is it?" She turned to face him.
