Chapter 290: Never Abandoned
Viviana left Danielle’s shop after asking her to think about her offer. Danielle appeared to be interested in the investment.
There was almost half an hour left to get her puppies and so Viviana decided to get an ice cream. Everyone stared at her for being there alone. She didn’t care. She got the tallest sundae and sat in a corner seat.
Watching the couples who were walking around, she took small bites of the sundae. The sundae was good and she enjoyed it. But she couldn’t finish it. She was not that hungry.
She searched for her card in her purse when she heard a familiar deep voice.
"Can’t finish?"
Viviana looked up to see those beautiful eyes. His eyes were filled with mirth, a rare sight for her these days.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"Business," Leander shrugged. "What are you doing here?"
Something sharp pierced her heart. They are living in the same house and no one knows what the other was doing. What kind of marriage is that? She couldn’t say exactly what it was but it was surely an unhealthy marriage.
"The puppies," she smiled.
"Ah," he nodded. There was a smile lingering in the corners of his lips. With no qualms, he picked up her leftovers and started eating.
"You can order yourself a new one if you like it," she said. He didn’t have to eat her leftovers.
"Yours is better..." he shrugged and continued eating.
Viviana’s heart skipped a beat. After everything that went on between them, this one sentence made her feel that the distance between them had reduced.
Then why aren’t you eating my cooking these days?
She wanted to ask him but she didn’t. She didn’t know how that question would affect him. They were in the eyes of the public.
She looked around. She particularly noticed a woman in hot pink dress sitting with her friends. She saw that group of women earlier when she was talking to Helena. Now, they were whispering among themselves looking at Leander. One of them in a green top looked at her with a contemptuous smile. They were obviously gossiping about them.
Each one of them had their phones out and were taking a lot of pictures. They looked like influencers and they must be mingling with the socialites in parties if they could recognize Leander.
Viviana could sense that they were mocking her. As Leander’s wife, she was known in the elitist circles, but to be mocked by a group of women...
What they were they saying? She didn’t know. But she did not feel comfortable sitting there anymore. She stared that woman down. She averted her eyes but then whispered something to her friends and they all started laughing.
Women!
Viviana was all too used to these types of situations in the past. But she was shielded from such humiliations after she became Leander’s wife. Now, her protection was gone. And it is back to how it was.
She sighed.
"Not feeling good?" Leander asked.
"Little head ache. Will be better after a nap," she smiled. She noticed that he had already finished the sundae. "Do you want to order anything else?" she asked.
"No," Leander wiped his hands in the tissue.
"You have something left on your..." She got up and wiped the cream on his upper lip with a wipe. She thought it would be better to do it herself than explaining to him.
Leander held her hand and stared at her. She gulped. Did she overstep?
"Sor~"
"Have you paid?"
Her apology was interjected by his question.
"No," she said.
He tried to get his card but she stopped him and paid with her card. Leander watched her interaction with the waiter. She left a generous tip for the waiter and she couldn’t control her smile.
His lips curved up. His wife is the best.
"It’s time," Viviana said checking the time. "I’ll have to get the puppies."
Leander nodded. Viviana understood that he wanted her to go alone and she walked away.
Leander put his hands in his trouser pockets and watched her leave. Just when her head disappeared from his view, the smile in his eyes disappeared.
When he turned to the side, his entire countenance had darkened. He walked to the group of women sitting at the table, giggling and laughing while playing with their phones.
"What’s your Instagram handle?" he asked the woman wearing green top.
The woman coquettishly raised her brows. "Why?" she asked while leaning to make her cleavage more apparent. The other women were all surprised. They knew Leander never approaches women.
But Ava got the Lion’s attention!
"To follow you, of course," Leander smirked.
The other girls were awed.
"If you’re not interested, then..." Leander pretended to walk away. He smirked as the woman stood up.
"I’m Ava. Nice to meet you," she smiled. She then gave her handle.
"Followed!" Leander said scrolling through his phone. The woman jumped in glee. "Be on lookout," he smirked at the woman. "Ladies," he nodded at the other women and turned to leave.
The women all held each other’s hands and squealed in glee. Who knew Leander was this suave!
Leander called Steve just as he stepped out of the shop.
"I followed someone named Ava. Nuke all her social media accounts along with those who are with her. They are all tagged in the latest post of hers. And what is an OnlyFans?" Leander asked.
Steve gulped. What happened to his boss? Why is he asking about THAT?
"Capo, Only Fans...it’s- it’s a... It’s a subscription based~"
"Nuke that too," Leander interjected him. "And their Paypal account, Venmo account... Anything that makes them money—nuke it!"
Leander ended the call.
Steve looked at his phone. His boss never uses his social media account and what is he doing following someone? He never bothered with influencers before. Why did he start to care now?
Whatever!
Steve made some calls.
Leander scoffed looking at the women who were celebrating as if they achieved something. They are here to mock his wife only because they could afford it, right? He’ll make sure they never move in the same social circle as his wife.
Imbeciles!
Did they all think that he abandoned his wife to be mocked by anybody! She is the lioness he loves!
Leander walked with larger strides to find his wife. He heard someone following him and turned. His eyebrows furrowed.
"Leo, I need to talk," Helena held his sleeve.
Leander took a deep breath. "You only have one minute," he said and walked to an isolated corner.
He needs to talk to her too.
