Chapter 257: Looking After Each Other

Chapter 257: Looking After Each Other

Leander hugged her. She is thinking that he is sad about his brother’s death. It won’t take her much time to realize that if he wanted his brother alive, he would be.

"When are we leaving?" Viviana asked.

She did not want to attend Evander’s funeral. She didn’t think that she would be able to digest being there. But as Leander’s wife, it is her duty to stand by his side at moments like these.

Leander got out of her embrace and looked at her. "Do you want to go?"

He had no plans to bring her there. His grandfather didn’t mention him refusing to help, but he knew his grandfather would be holding it in his heart against him. He will blame him for Evander’s death.

If she was there, he wouldn’t be able to speak his mind as they will think that she is the one using him to speak. Their anger will turn at her. He will not let that happen.

And more importantly, she just had a miscarriage. She cannot travel for six hours for a funeral.

"Don’t I have to? It would be weird and open a lot of questions if I were not there. Everyone knows that you are married," she said.

Leander pressed his lips. She considers it an obligation. There was no sign that she was happy and wants to see his grandfather in pain.

She has fallen deeply for him.

"You cannot travel. You need rest," he said holding her cheeks.

"It’s just a period," she said. "I can survive. I do not want to leave you alone. I know you will be busy arranging the funeral and planning on getting back at the Vitale family or whatever... but I want to be there for you, with a hot dinner on the table when you return home."

Leander looked at her without blinking. He was totally lost for words. These are not words that she simply says for lip service. This is her true feeling.

How perfect is she to know everything he wants!

"My dearest Lemon," he pressed his forehead on hers. "You are...amazing."

A lump formed in his throat as his heart bubbled with various emotions. He was happy that he had someone who loved him to this extent. But more than that, he felt like an imbecile.

She gives him everything he wants and he cannot make her one wish happen. She almost had what she wanted and yet...

He held her cheeks tightly. He didn’t want her to figure out that his fingers were trembling. He kissed her. He wanted to keep her merged with him so that he could protect her fully.

He wanted her more. He wanted her presence with him all the time. The lemon he was carrying was not enough.

Viviana was almost left out of breath by the intense kiss. The kiss was gaining momentum making her heart pound. But when his hands reached for her waist obviously wanting to go further down, she had to force him to stop.

It’s a bloody mess down there.

Leander gathered himself and pulled back. Looking into her eyes, he patted her head. "You take rest here. I’ll go there and... We’ll see..." he said.

Viviana nodded. She didn’t want to go there anyway. She had a feeling that he might bring her to the funeral. The funeral won’t take place for at least a week. Evander Kastello’s funeral would not be a normal funeral. There will be politicians and elites involved. It won’t be arranged in just a couple of days like a humble plebe’s funeral.

Evander does not deserve such a send-off. But the world isn’t fair.

She was curious to know why Leander killed Evander though. By Leander’s words, she could infer that Evander didn’t die a peaceful death. Although Leonardo is not a good man himself, she was grateful for him.

She couldn’t help but rub his cheeks. The way he looked at her was so... She couldn’t say. She had a feeling that he was hiding a lot from her.

But she knew that it comes from a good place; he wants to protect her.

"How is the pain?" he asked.

He really didn’t want to leave her alone here. But he didn’t want to bring her with him either. He was torn.

He believed that by killing Evander, Leonardo will stay away from their country for a while. He is the sole heir and Vito will not allow Leonardo to be out of his sight fearing retaliation from the Kastello family. So, he does not have to worry about Leonardo doing anything to her.

But still...

"It has become bearable. Last night... it was terrible, like never before..." Viviana sighed and looked out of the window.

Her hands caressed her lower abdomen. It was too much. And now that she thinks about it, could it be possible that it was a...miscarriage?

She quickly shook that thought out of her head. She cannot get that delusional.

Leander helped her take a shower and change. He then helped her to lie down. Viviana fell asleep almost immediately.

Leander left the room after making sure she fell asleep. Just as he got out of the room, Steve informed Leander that Leonardo has officially left the Sirona Isles. It was predicted that he was visiting his father as they couldn’t get his flight log.

Leander asked Steve to have the security tightened anyway.

Leander noticed that Hosea Donatello has been calling him a lot that day. His daughter’s whereabouts are not known yet. But he didn’t care about that.

Leander prepared for his journey. He hired a helicopter from a random agency using a fake name for his safety. Rather than traveling by car, helicopters would be faster. He decided to go there first to arrange everything and then come later to pick up his wife.

If she is feeling a little better on the second day, eh figured she would be able to handle the travel on the fifth or sixth day.

He will have to bury their baby first.

Thinking of that made his chest hurt. How is he going to do that without her knowing?

He took a walk outside.

When Viviana woke up it was evening already. She wondered if she missed Leander leaving. But she could hear him in the garden.

She walked to the window and peeked out. "Leander?" she called.

Steve was having a small plant and they were digging a hole in the empty space.

"Can you get down here?" Leander asked seeing her.

"One minute," Viviana said.

The bleeding was still heavy but she could cope with it as it was the usual pain she has. She was curious about what Leander was doing.

When she got downstairs after freshening up, they had already placed the plant in the hold. Leander was holding the shovel.

"Is this a lemon sapling?" she asked.

She couldn’t control her smile.

It all started when she bought him a little lemon because she thought that both their names combine to form a lemon. She thought it wouldn’t mean much to him. But he proved her wrong.

She didn’t know what happened to that lemon as she didn’t see it after that. But he started calling her "Lemon". He bought a house and named it after Lemon and now...

They are planting a lemon tree together.

Isn’t this romantic?
