Chapter 233: The Brave Lion
Chapter 233: The Brave Lion
Viviana looked at Leander. He had a smirk hanging by the corner of his lips as if he expected for this to happen. His eyes were sharp and as testosterone and adrenaline flowed through his veins warning his blood, he looked ruddy.
Viviana got calm. If Leander expected this, he must have a plan for an escape. They are far from civilization, and he brought them here to this secluded place for a reason.
Even through the soundproof windows, Viviana heard the loud rotor of a helicopter circling above their car.
"I’LL SPARE YOU IF YOU HAND HER OVER, LEANDER KASTELLO!! THIS IS A VITALE PROMISE!!!"
A voice blasted over in loudspeaker.
Leander held her hand. Viviana rolled her eyes. "What’s my say in this, doorknob?" she shouted.
Leander chuckled. He thought she might get scared, but she is in good spirits.
"What kind of insult is a doorknob?" he asked with a smile. His wife is entertaining.
Viviana pouted. "He’s stupid."
"That he is," Leander nodded. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have come here.
"I’LL COUNT TO TEN!!!" Leonardo Vitale’s voice blasted through the speaker.
That was followed by a burst of bullets from the sky. Viviana heard bullets on top of their car. Leander leaned back on the seat and crossed his legs. Scrolling through his phone, he dialed someone.
"Don’t ruin our vacation, you f*cking doorknob!" Viviana shouted at the sky. She wanted to shout rolling down the windows, but she didn’t want to give a chance to get bullets in. She knew the window glass in Leander’s car is bullet-proof.
"Did do receive my gift, Don Vitale?" Leander asked.
His voice was deep and calm. There was no fear or hurry in his voice even though there were bullets blasting his car. He talked leisurely as if he was sipping cocktails leaning on a beach chair.
Viviana hugged his waist and leaned on his arm. Why should she worry when she married a lion?
"What you received is what some will call the most important part of a helicopter if it has to stay above..." Leander smirked.
Viviana couldn’t hear the other side, but she understood there might be panic. The spray of bullets stopped.
"The helicopter your son is in will need to land in a few minutes—enough time to return to Sirona Isles. I cannot guarantee his safety here. Just saying this out of respect my grandfather has for you, Don Vitale," Leander scratched his glabella.
"I’M NOT ANSWERING HIS CALL!!!"
Viviana stifled her laughter hearing the pouty voice of Leonardo through the speaker. His father already called him.
"One more thing, Don Vitale," Leander added. "Barnabas does not speak for my wife. She speaks for herself."
Leander ended the call. Viviana gulped looking at Leander. He might not have explicitly stated it, but Barnabas cannot be separated from Peter. Barnabas speaks on behalf of Peter.
So, Peter Kastello sent Vitale to get me? Leander went against his grandfather! For me!
’She speaks for herself.’
Viviana knew Leander did not say those words lightly. For a man in his position to say that about her...
She was touched.
Hearing the helicopters, she looked out. The spotlights were all turned off and the six helicopters were leaving. One of the helicopters was smoking.
Leander was not bluffing! Wow!
At the door of the smoking helicopter, she saw a hand stretching out.
"I’LL COME FOR YOU AGAIN, MY ANGEL..."
Viviana stuck out her tongue. "In your dreams, doorknob!"
"Wait..." she turned and held Leander’s hand. "Wouldn’t he retaliate...Don Vitale?" she asked.
Leander threatened the life of his heir. If the helicopters were coming from Sirona Isles, by messing with Leonardo’s helicopter, Leander showed Don Vitale that he has an influence on the Vitale turf.
It’s not going to go well in any way. Don Vitale won’t take this slight to his influence lightly. Leander also talked as if he was not on good terms with his family.
It didn’t make any sense to her. Whether she liked his family or not, the Kastello family’s strength is its unity. Even if they don’t get along, they will not reveal it to others.
Why did Leander say that the consigliere of the Kastello family does not speak for him?
Leander caressed her hair and pulled her close. "Don’t worry about it."
The car started moving. Leander gently rubbed her arms. Although she was confused, she fell asleep.
Leander let out a deep sigh. He’s taking a big risk here. But he needs to take drastic steps to know what the Vitale family wants. Just now he learned that Vito Vitale does not want his son anywhere near Minerva. He was shocked hearing his son through the phone.
Vito Vitale was not even mad at him for tampering with Leonardo’s helicopter. He was mad at Leonardo for being there. Vito Vitale knows something that Leonardo doesn’t.
Could Vito Vitale be her father?
Even if that was the case, Leander was not very keen on trusting Vito Vitale. Vito Vitale is a snake. He wouldn’t care for his lost bastard daughter or everyone around him. He must want her for something else.
He did not want to give her up for anything or anyone. She is his wife first and foremost. She wants to be with him. That’s all that matters.
About Barnabas... he needs to find a better way to dispose of him without alerting his grandfather. Barnabas shouldn’t have had the guts to talk to Leonardo about his wife even if his grandfather asked him to.
------
Viviana woke up in a fluffy bed. White flowy curtains were flowing at the sides of the canopy bed she was at. Without even looking outside, she could smell the sea breeze. She heard the sound of crashing waves in the distance.
Ah! What a divine place!
She turned to the side to see the unmade bed. With a smile, she rolled to his side of the bed. It was still warm. He must have gotten up just then. After taking in his scent for some time, she got down from the bed.
The windows were open with curtains fluttering around. She walked to the terrace seeing a dark misty figure through the curtains.
She pulled aside the curtain that stuck to her face and walked to the balcony, rubbing her arms as she felt chilly.
Leander was leaning on the railing with his phone in one hand and some drink in the other. He was wearing his sunglasses as the sun was shining brightly. That along with the black polo shirt with the collar buttons popped off exposing his neck made him appear as a movie star.
The sun reflected on his bronze collarbones, and she could see the nerves on his hands clearly. He doesn’t usually dress so casually like this, and he was a snack to look at.
What a man!
"Leander!" she smiled brightly and ran to him.
Hearing her, he looked at her with a smile. She jumped on him and hugged him.
"What a view," he patted her back.
Viviana winced sensing his warm hand on her bare skin. She was sure she was wearing something but why is she feeling his hand on her bareback?
"I thought you wouldn’t come out wearing this," Leander said hugging her around her waist.
"What?" Viviana got alerted and only then looked at herself.
She covered her face with her hands out of shame. No wonder she felt the sea breeze on her skin when it is sunny. Leander chuckled.
"You look so sexy, wife," he pulled her up so she would be at his eye level.
"Shut up! Let me down!" she slapped his chest playfully. "I didn’t have any lace babydoll night dress..." she tried to cover her face. Her chest was already covered by his chest, so she was not bothered by it.
"Is that what this is called?" he gripped her lush cheeks down there.
Viviana yelped and looked at his face.
"You should get more of this...babydoll for my view..." Leander hissed in her ear. "I can see your nipples... those juicy little~"
"You’re a pervert," she mumbled.
"Very much," he said and carried her inside the room.
Viviana clung to his shoulders.
"Did you sleep well?" he asked. "It’s been a while since I’ve tasted you to my heart’s content..."
Viviana buried her face in his neck. She saw this coming.
"Who dressed me?" she asked. Did everyone saw her in this night dress?
"Who else?" Leander bit her ear. "I’ve been feeling hot in my stomach for a long time... Cool me down, wifey..."
"What do you want me to do?" she asked. She clung on to his waist with her legs. With a cheeky smile, she removed his sunglasses and looked into his eyes.
He has booked an entire cottage for their stay. The second floor is for them just like back in their home. Although she hasn’t explored the house, she could see that it was big just looking at the terrace.
She decided to make the most of it.
"What will you do for me?" he raised his brows.
She licked her lips. He raised his eyebrows in understanding.
This calls for a special occasion, doesn’t it?
She decided to please her husband.
