Chapter 191: Unsolicited Advice
"What about it?" Viviana shrugged. "And don’t tell anyone that my birthday is in September. Certainly not to Leander. Promise me," Viviana held her hand. "I’m supposed to be dead. The Kastello family cannot know that I am alive."
Gabriella’s eyes were shifting side to side and she was blinking at a faster rate as if she was thinking deeply. "Right..." she said absentmindedly.
"Gabby!" Viviana shook her. "Kastello family cannot know that Melanie survived. For the kids that are still left..." she reminded her.
"But Leander..." Gabriella stopped herself. "I know... I know. I won’t tell anyone. Leander cannot be trusted if it involves his family. But Melanie... Melanie, I think that you are Leander’s first love. Or for that matter, you might be his only love and Helena was just a substitute... A replacement of you..."
"That’s nice to hear. But let’s be realistic. I know that’s not the truth. Why would a rich boy fall in love with an orphan just in a few hours of being with her? Gabby, you know how terrible I was back then," Viviana laughed. She really considered it a joke.
Until she remembered the tattoo. He also talked about a girl. She mocked him as a creep and he didn’t continue that topic.
Is Gabby right?
"It doesn’t matter how long a meeting was. What matters is how impactful the meeting was for those involved. You knew him for a short time too and yet you waited for him, didn’t you?" Gabriella asked.
Viviana had no answer to that.
On their first meeting, she might have wanted to meet the boy who wore a lot of jewelry to the beach. But what shook her to the core were his eyes.
"Turn him against his family, Melanie... You are the only one who can do that," Gabriella’s reddened eyes focused on her with determination. "Only he can bring out the corruption in his family to the fullest degree. And he would be the perfect avenger for all those who were affected by the Kastello family."
"Me?" Viviana scoffed. That would be the biggest joke. "I can’t even feed a dog without being scared of him, Gabby. And right now, as we speak, there are nineteen women in this very city whose life is in danger just because I share appearances with them. He killed a woman in my place, Gabby. If I take one wrong step, he’s going to~"
"Was it before or after he went against his mother for you, Melanie?" Gabriella asked.
Viviana didn’t know what to say. She didn’t think she can do that. She didn’t even want to do that.
"What else are you going to do, huh?" Gabriella gritted her teeth. "You were willing to die halfway, but when you have a perfect chance like this... What are you planning to do?"
Viviana gulped. She had no plans and that was her problem. It would be better if she knew what to do. But what Gabby suggests is mental. She doesn’t think she is that talented.
"Are you going to sit and cry in the corner that you’re unsuited for him? That’s it? You’re in love with him. And you’re his wife. It is your God-given duty to show him the right path. He’s a good man. He’s just lost and trusts the wrong people. Stop being scared of him. Man up and fulfill your purpose!"
Viviana blinked. Why does it seem like the emotional speech the coach would give that riles up the players in the second half of the game of every sports movie ever made? Is this supposed to make her feel confident?
She knows who she is! She can’t even make herself do anything. How will she convince Leander?
Gabriella pinched Viviana and Viviana screamed. "What?"
"You’ve already made his stomach a slave for your food. That was perfect! Now all you have to do is make his d*ck a slave for..." Gabriella pinched Viviana again as she was not listening.
"Aww!" Viviana furrowed her brows. "The phone’s ringing, I think..." she listened closely.
"The phone is ringing!" Viviana jumped from the bed as she heard the knock on the door. "I’ll be back."
Gabriella sighed seeing Viviana running out of the room. She didn’t have to ask to know that it was Leander’s call.
She’s so in love...
Gabriella smiled.
That’s good... Being in love is good...
She plopped on the bed. Maybe it is better that Melanie is absent-minded like this. Maybe she will find a way to express her love for Leander.
With the Vitale family coming for her, and with her infertility issues, Leander already will have to make a choice. She could only hope that Leander chooses this silly little girl who only knows love.
But will he?
-----
Viviana ran to the phone before the call ended. It was Leander as she predicted.
"Are you feeling fine? Did you take a nap?" Leander asked.
"Yes, and... no..." Viviana spoke in a low voice. She didn’t know if it would be better to tell him the truth. Will he get mad if she says that she was talking to Gabby all this time?
But then, he will know that she was talking to Gabby through his servants though. What use is there if she hides it?
"Were you in the guest room?" he asked. He sounded disappointed.
"...Yeah..." Viviana said after a short pause.
She could hear him sigh from the other end. Again, with the sighing. Is she draining him that much?
She didn’t know what to do.
"I’m at a fishing village," he said. "They have some fresh catch. Want some for dinner?" he asked.
Viviana looked outside. It was already evening. She should start dinner. But fresh catch did sway her.
"What fish?" she asked.
After telling him which fish to buy, Viviana ended the call. And she sensed that something was different.
It was then she remembered. Her father used to call home at times just like this. Most times, he would be at the grocery store and would call her mother to ask if she needed anything. At times, he would be at the butcher’s shop and sometimes in a fish stall too.
She never thought that Leander would do the same stuff her father did. And he is doing it for her!
It reminded her once again.
She is his wife!
She returned to Gabriella. Gabriella was laying on the bed. Viviana didn’t want to continue the conversation they were having earlier. But she didn’t want to leave Gabriella alone either.
"What do you want to do next, Gabby?" she asked.
Gabriella looked at Viviana.
"Actually, I came up with something. I need your help," she said.
Viviana leaned forward, willing to listen.
