Chapter 188: Things Unsaid
Chapter 188: Things Unsaid
Viviana wanted to say a lot, but she held herself back.
"Okay," she said after some time.
It’s not like she has any other choice. She could voice her thoughts. But what good will that do? In the end, what he said is going to matter. Her feelings mean nothing.
Leander was still staring at her, and she didn’t know why he looked disappointed. So, she smiled at him hoping that would make him better.
But he sighed.
"Did you have a nice talk?" he asked pointing in the direction of the guest bedroom.
Viviana understood that he was asking about Gabby and she got scared. She didn’t know why. The moment he mentioned her, she got scared. Her heart jumped inside her chest cavity out of fright.
He knows!
She said nothing and proceeded to clean the table. She hoped he doesn’t figure out how important Father Flannagan is to her and hurt him to hurt her.
But he said in the morning that he won’t hurt me...
A thought popped into her head. But she didn’t mind it much. She couldn’t stop worrying. She didn’t trust him enough when it comes to the people she loves. It reminded her of what the Kastello family did to them.
"You’re not finishing?" he asked as there was some food left on her plate.
"No, you finish up. I don’t feel good," she said. She truly didn’t feel good. Her stomach was churning she feared she might throw up if she ate more.
"Do you need to see a doctor?" he asked grabbing her hand and stopping her from rushing to the kitchen.
He looked concerned.
Yeah, he is concerned for her. But only for her physical well-being. He cares nothing about her feelings.
"No, I’ll be fine after a nap," she walked to the kitchen.
As she handed over the used dishes to Mary, she felt him standing behind her. "You want anything?" she asked.
"No," he handed over his plate. It was empty. Viviana got it. It was odd that he brought his plate to the kitchen. He never does it.
"She’s taking a nap," Viviana said walking out of the kitchen. He followed her like a duckling imprinted on its mother and she thought that he might want to know about Gabriella.
"Oh?" he shrugged. He didn’t seem too interested in knowing about her.
"I’ll ask Mary to check on her after some time," Viviana said walking out. She thought he would leave her alone if she went on a walk outside, but he followed her.
The breeze was nice and brought the scent of herbs into the garden. Viviana avoided the area of the dog. The dog had a nice sense of smell and it would come looking for her if she goes near the fence.
She still didn’t know why Leander was walking with her.
"You are free?" she asked. Usually, he goes out after lunch. Today, he seemed to be free and for some reason is following her around.
Leander stared at her. Viviana didn’t know if she had asked him the wrong question. He scratched his eyebrows. "I’m leaving," he said and walked to the car.
Steve came running to the car and even he looked a little perplexed seeing Leander there.
Why does it look like I drove him out of his house?
Viviana couldn’t understand. She sat under a tree in the shade. She did not feel good at all.
-----
Leander saw Viviana sitting under a tree as the car left the house. She was not looking good. He thought she would talk to him about this or that. But she said nothing.
He hated it when she was being passive-aggressive. It’s worse than when she screams at him.
Why can’t she tell him what’s wrong with her? It’s not like he would kill her if she says that she does not want to attend his brother’s party.
But she has to attend. This is the first time his brother arranged a party for him. And he even insisted that he brings his wife. How can he refuse his brother?
Did she already forget his promise that he will not let any harm get near her? She can trust him with the notorious Vitale family. But why can’t she trust him with Evander? And she already proved herself to be able to subjugate Evander somehow. She was the one who hurt Evander. And why is she pretending that she is scared of him?
Steve waved the driver to just keep on driving. His boss told him earlier that he was going to rest at home for the rest of the day, but he is now here. There is only one reason a married woman would want some air.
He must have fought with his wife. But what can he do? He will follow his boss sacrificing his rest.
-----
"Signora! Signora!"
Viviana woke up to Mary’s voice. She didn’t know why she ended up sleeping here. Mary looked just as puzzled as her.
"Did Gabriella eat?" Viviana asked as she stood up.
"She asked us to leave it there. I don’t know if she ate or not. Her room is locked," Mary said.
Viviana went and knocked on Gabriella’s door. "It’s me, Gabby! Open the door!"
Gabriella opened the door and Viviana got inside. The food tray was left untouched.
"Reheat it, Mary, please," Viviana told Mary. Mary tried to pick the tray.
"I’m not hungry. You can take it back," Gabriella said.
"Bring it back, Mary," Viviana said and Mary left with a nod.
"I’m really not hungry, Melanie," Gabriella said as the door closed.
"Right," Viviana sat on the bed. "You didn’t eat much breakfast either. It’s not good to stay hungry. And I cooked for you. You must not waste food," she said.
Gabriella sighed.
They sat in silence and Mary walked in with the reheated food after some time. "Thanks, Mary," Viviana said. Mary understood her and walked out of the room closing the door.
"He must really love you," Gabriella said.
"What?" Viviana asked with her mouth wide open in shock.
That came out of nowhere.
