Chapter 177: Possible Connection
Oh, Melanie... Never forget that you’re with the dangerous Kastello again!
She told herself as she thought of a response.
"The perfume!" Viviana said in an unwavering tone. "You went to Venus point to meet her in the morning too, right? It was the same perfume she was wearing...It’s a rather peculiar fragrance. She smells like a garden."
"Hmm?" Leander hummed. He doesn’t know anything about perfumes. And he did think that she recognized the perfume. She has odd talents.
But her eyes went into panic mode for a moment. Lionel’s odd statement came to his mind at that time.
’They will get along...’
He knew who Brie is and where she came from. But this one...he thinks he knows everything about her. But apparently, he doesn’t know a chunk of her life.
Abenney... that place must be the connecting factor.
Leander brushed off the lock of hair falling on her face. "You’ve been to Venus Point, haven’t you?"
He expected her to lie to him. He hoped that she lies to him.
"Yes," Viviana told him the truth.
He was shocked. She didn’t want to elaborate further unless he questioned her.
Leander was surprised that she told him the truth. "Abenney?" he asked. He mumbled not really wanting to know the truth.
"What?" Viviana asked. She thought he heard him say Abenney.
"Nothing," he hugged her.
He thought his heart would turn him against her once he sees the secrets behind her. Seeing her hatred, he thought he would get over her. But the more she’s truthful, the more he sees her, his heart is leaning more toward her and away from his family.
And he was not even feeling guilty about it.
What is this feeling?
Viviana leaned on his chest. His heartbeat was steady.
"Don’t trust her," he said. "I can never forgive her for what she did to Lionel."
Viviana looked at him. He let out a sigh. She could see that he had figured out something. She got scared. She didn’t say anything.
Leander is going to side with his family. Leander acting chummy with Evander did not give her a good feeling. Not only because she didn’t like Evander and she thought that Evander will try and hurt her. She believed that Evander is not being honest and he will hurt Leander when the chance arrives.
Or he will create a chance.
Once Leander is out of the board...
It frightened her. What will she do if something happened to Leander? She’s learned to live with him for some time. She couldn’t even imagine living without him.
She leaned back on his chest. Seeing the angel on his chest brought a smile to her face. Her slender finger traced over the angel.
"You’re not having many nightmares lately," she said. She has not sung to him for a few days now.
Leander caressed her hair. It was wet in some places. They cannot stay in the water for long. He liked the feeling of her hair in his hand. He thought he would miss her long hair. But as it turned out, he did not.
Maybe he will not miss anything as long as she was here with him.
"Yeah... I’m getting dreams of a girl lately. She’s so...angelic," he said.
Viviana scoffed.
"What?" Leander asked. He didn’t expect that reaction from her.
"A grown man dreaming of a little girl? Yeah, it’s not weird at all," she shook her head.
Leander shrugged. It is weird.
"What girl?" Viviana asked out of curiosity. It could probably be his daughter. She cannot judge him as a creep with the little information he gave.
Leander looked at her as if he was saying ’seriously?’
"Sorry. I know you’re not the creep," Viviana looked at him pitifully.
It’s your brother!
She didn’t say that out loud though. She knew Leander will not like it. She already told him that she witnessed what Evander did and yet he never talked to her about that again.
She didn’t want to try and convince Leander to see how cruel his family was. It’s no use. He’s used to being the loyal dog of the family.
It’s such a shame though. Leander is a good man.
"Dry your hair." Leander helped her up.
Lately, in all his dreams, he is getting mixed up with that girl and her. It must be the short hair, he thought. Or maybe he met her when she was young. She did insinuate that they’d met before.
But he didn’t want to distract his mind with that though. He was not planning on letting her out of his sight ever. He can learn about her later. He has other important things to deal with.
Like the Vitale family.
Today, when he went to pick up Brie, the Waldorf men were there ready to get her. But it was a busy street and maybe because he was there, they didn’t proceed in going against him.
They probably didn’t want to make it obvious that the two families got into a fight for a woman. Or maybe Lionel did interfere as he promised.
He was not planning on bringing Brie to his house in the beginning. But then he noticed that they were getting followed.
The fedora guy was there. He had to bring Brie to his home for Lionel’s sake.
The Vitale family surely will come for them. He should devise a plan to keep his wife safe.
Leander watched her get rid of her wet clothes before entering the closet. He walked behind her and lifted her. He then brought her to the bed.
He wanted to hear her cry his name. And crying his name, she did. Enough to soothe his disturned heart.
This is enough, he thought as her warm breath fell on his chest. Drawing lazy circles on her back, he kissed her forehead.
"The Vitale family is coming to get you," he said.
He doesn’t know a lot about her. Maybe, he thought. Just maybe she knows something about it.
Viviana lifted her head to look at him.
"Vitale family?" she raised her brows. "The Vitale family that controls the drug trade in five continents?"
Leander nodded. He was not that surprised that she knows about the Vitale family. She really had researched a lot about mafia families.
"Oh," Viviana shrugged.
Honestly, she expected this.
